Women's ODI World Cup 2025: Where will Pakistan play their matches in the India-hosted tournament?
NEW DELHI: India's high-voltage Women's ODI World Cup clash against Pakistan will be played at a neutral venue — the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo — on October 5, as confirmed by the ICC on Monday.
The decision to host the Indo-Pak tie in Colombo aligns with the 'Hybrid Model' that was approved earlier this year for the men's Champions Trophy and other ICC events after India opted not to travel to Pakistan.
There had been speculation about whether the ICC would schedule the Indo-Pak match in the round-robin stage — a regular feature of global events — especially in the wake of the recent terror attacks in Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists.

Given the rising military tensions between the two countries, doubts persisted over whether India would face Pakistan at ICC tournaments. However, with the official schedule released on Monday, those concerns have now been addressed.
India will begin their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on September 30, a fixture that also serves as the tournament opener. On October 26, India will return to Bengaluru to face Bangladesh, ending speculation that the venue might lose hosting rights following a stampede during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL celebrations.

Seeking their first-ever title win, India will take on South Africa on October 9 and then face defending champions Australia on October 12 — both matches will be held in Visakhapatnam.
Following those fixtures, the team will move to Indore to meet England on October 19, and then head to Guwahati for their October 23 game against New Zealand.
'With the eight best teams in the women's game descending on India, alongside incredible venues and what promises to be record-breaking crowds, we are all looking forward to an unforgettable tournament,' said Jay Shah, the ICC Chairman, in a release.
However, the BCCI is yet to announce the formation of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) responsible for running the tournament.
Australia will open their campaign against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore. Their blockbuster match against England — a rematch of the previous edition's final — will be held on October 22, also in Indore.
WHERE WILL PAKISTAN PLAY THEIR MATCHES?
As per the hybrid model, Pakistan will play all their World Cup matches in Colombo.
Along with the match against India, they are scheduled to face Bangladesh (October 2), Australia (October 8), England (October 15), New Zealand (October 18), South Africa (October 21), and Sri Lanka (October 24) — all at the Premadasa Stadium.
The first semifinal will take place on October 29 at either Guwahati or Colombo, depending on Pakistan's qualification. The second semifinal will be held in Bengaluru on October 30.
The final is scheduled for November 2 and will be played either in Bengaluru or Colombo, based on Pakistan's progression.
This is the first time since 2013 that India is hosting the Women's ODI World Cup. The format will follow a round-robin stage with all eight teams playing each other once. The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals.
India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka secured direct entry to the tournament.
Pakistan and Bangladesh made it through the Qualifiers held in Lahore earlier this year, with Bangladesh advancing at the cost of the West Indies.

Watch: South Africa Back At Lord's For World Test Championship Celebrations
Last Updated: South Africa's ICC World Test Championship squad celebrated their historic win over Australia at Lord's. Two days after making history by defeating Australia, South Africa's triumphant ICC World Test Championship squad returned to Lord's on Monday to continue their celebrations. The entire 15-player squad, along with the famous mace, gathered at the Home of Cricket to commemorate their five-wicket victory over Australia in the World Test Championship Final. This marked South Africa's first win in an ICC tournament in 28 years. Watch: A fantastic #WTC25 Final at Lord's with the @proteasmencsa lifting the mace on day four after defeating the defending champions @ausmencricket — ICC (@ICC) June 16, 2025 View this post on Instagram A post shared by ICC (@icc) View this post on Instagram A post shared by ICC (@icc) As reported by the ICC website, the players and support staff were in high spirits as they took one final look at Lord's before heading back to South Africa. All-rounder Wiaan Mulder described the celebrations as spirited. 'It's been a very, very good couple of days. Celebrations like I haven't had before, so as a team I think we're super chuffed and no better place to do it than at the Home of Cricket," Mulder was quoted as saying by ICC Digital at Lord's. Mulder admitted he had barely slept since arriving in London due to the nerves leading up to the Ultimate Test and the post-match celebrations taking their toll. Although the entire squad and support staff participated in the festivities, Mulder noted that players from Western Province led the way. 'I think it's the Western Province crew, to be honest," Mulder said when asked who had been the best celebrators. 'All of them celebrate victory very, very hard. Kyle Verreynne, Dane Paterson, David Bedingham and (batting coach) Ashwell Prince are kind of the leaders of our vibe team, so they have been the guys that have gone all out." Mulder mentioned that he had received numerous messages of support from family and friends back in South Africa, and he had even spoken with Australian batter Travis Head, his teammate along with Pat Cummins at IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad, after the victory. 'I actually spoke to him (Head) last night on the phone," Mulder said. 'He was chuffed for the way it went for us. 'Obviously, he was broken that they didn't win, but I think overall, the spirit of the game was really as high or as good as it could be. 'You think about the Aussies, you always think about them as being a little bit nasty at times, but I think these guys are true champions. 'And the way they go about it, the consistency that they bring to every single day and every single moment of the game, just shows why they're arguably the best team, best sporting cricketing team to ever play the game," Mulder told the ICC. ISSF Munich World Cup 2025: Consistent final appearances, two golds, power India to strong finish
Munich [Germany], June 16 (ANI): A string of consistent final appearances and two standout gold medal performances, powered India to a commendable and strong third-place finish at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup (Rifle/Pistol) Munich 2025, one of the most competitive and popular events in the world of international rifle and pistol shooting. Held at the iconic Olympic Shooting range between June 8-15, 2025, the Munich World Cup saw India register their third top-three finish this year in four world cups, with two gold and two bronze medals. They not only improved their standing from joint third last year to sole this year, but also doubled their medal count, including the gold count, from last year's Munich World Cup, a release said. 'The Munich World Cup which is an annual feature of the International Shooting calendar and is held at the revered Olympic Shooting range, which hosted the sport at the 1972 Munich Olympics, has once again brought out the best in our rifle and pistol shooters,' said an overjoyed K. Sultan Singh, Secretary General, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). He added, 'When many were saying and quite rightly so, that India will find it very tough given the large field, quality of competition and the fact that some of our best were not part of the squad, our athletes have proven that the depth in Indian shooting is more formidable than ever before. On behalf of the NRAI, I congratulate the entire squad, including the coaches and support staff, for the amazing results, not only in Munich, but throughout the year.' The high point for India at Munich this year, as also of this whole international season, has been the stunning consistency of rising women's pistol star Suruchi Phogat. The Haryana teenager won an unprecedented third consecutive individual ISSF World Cup stage gold in the women's 10m air pistol and to then imagine that Buenos Aires this year was her world cup debut, is mindboggling. She went where no Indian, man or woman, has even gone before. The other being Arya Rajesh Borse and Olympian Arjun Babuta's tremendous win over the Chinese world record holders Sheng Lihao and Wang Zifei, the former also the Olympic champion in the event, in the 10m air rifle mixed team final, where they completely outgunned the crack Chinese pair 17-7. With some incredible and consistent series of high scores, they showcased the depth and new found confidence of Indian shooting like never before. Elavenil Valarivan (women's 10m air rifle-arw), a two-time Olympian and Sift Kaur Samra (50m rifle 3 positions women-3P), Olympian and world record holder, also reinforced their status one of the world's top shooters, with their bronze-winning performances at Munich. Ela also set a new qualification national record of 635.9 en route to her bronze, while Suruchi equalled Manu Bhaker's qualification national mark of 588 in the women's air pistol. In keeping with the trend this year, Indian World Cup debutants, and there were as many as three in Munich, also delivered encouraging performances in world-class fields that they were up against first up. Ananya Naidu (arw) shot a solid 632.4 to finish 13th among contenders. Nishant Rawat (10m air pistol men-apm) and Aditya Malra (apm) too shot scores of 582 and 578 to finish 10th and 27th respectively. India made a total of seven finals in the 10 events in Munich with Manu Bhaker (women's 25m pistol), Varun Tomar (men's 10m air pistol) and Chain Singh (men's 3P), finishing sixth (both Manu and Varun) and seventh respectively, underlying India's strength in the sport. China finished on top of the standings with seven medals, including four gold, while Norway edged India to second on the basis of having won a silver with the same number of golds and medals as India. A total of 11 nations, including the individual neutral athletes group, won medals in Munich. The ISSF bandwagon next moves to Lonato Del Garda in Italy next month for the year's fourth Shotgun world cup stage, while the fourth and final Rifle/Pistol world cup is scheduled for Ningbo in China in September. Harshit Rana to Stay Back With Indian Test Team In England: Report
Last Updated: Harshit Rana will stay with the Indian Test team in England but may not be officially added to the squad. Fast-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana will stay with the Indian Test team in England, a report stated, quoting sources. Rana was in England with the India 'A' team to play two four-day matches against the England Lions and an intra-squad game against the Test team in Beckenham. 'Yes, after a lot of speculation going around, it has now been confirmed that Rana will stay back with the Indian Test team. But it is yet to be known if he will be officially added to the Indian Test squad ahead of the series starting on June 20," the sources, who are aware of the development, told IANS. It is understood that the India 'A' team members who are not part of the main Test side or do not have a county deal yet may fly back home on Tuesday. In England, Rana played in the first game against the England Lions at Canterbury, where he returned with 1-99 and scored 16 runs. Rana made his Test debut on last year's tour of Australia, where he took only four wickets at an average of 50.75, with his best figures being 3-48 in Perth. He was not selected for the upcoming five-match series against England, as the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee chose Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna for the fast-bowling department alongside Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Overall, Rana from New Delhi averages 27.79 with the ball in 13 first-class games, having taken 48 wickets. He also averages 32.80 with the bat, including a century and two fifties. India, captained by Shubman Gill, aim to win a Test series in England for the first time since 2007. The five-match Test series, to be played at Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord's, Old Trafford, and The Oval, will also be India's first assignment in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
