In a significant step towards deepening economic and strategic collaboration, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Kazakhstan convened the seventh session of the Qatari-Kazakh Joint Higher Committee in Astana.
The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs of the State of Qatar HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed and Deputy Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Arman Kassinov. Senior officials from both nations participated in the session, reflecting the strong commitment from both sides to strengthen bilateral ties.
In his opening address, Al Sayed praised the enduring and dynamic relations between Qatar and Kazakhstan. He underscored the importance of the joint higher committee as a key institutional mechanism for driving strategic cooperation and enhancing partnerships across diverse sectors.
'The Joint Committee remains a vital platform to explore new opportunities and implement initiatives that serve the mutual interests of our two nations,' he stated.
The session featured in-depth discussions on expanding cooperation in a range of priority areas. These included trade and investment, finance, agriculture, transport and logistics, higher education and scientific research, information technology and artificial intelligence, healthcare, labour, tourism, culture, regional cooperation, and pressing environmental issues such as climate change.
Both parties agreed to intensify their collaboration through practical measures aimed at boosting bilateral trade and creating a more conducive environment for the flow of goods, services, and investments. A shared commitment was expressed to leverage existing economic complementarities and establish frameworks for sustained partnership and innovation.
On the sidelines of the event, Al Sayed held a series of strategic bilateral meetings with key Kazakh officials. He met with Serik Jumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy; Murat Karimsakov, Chairman of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs; and Nurlan Zhakupov, Chief Executive Officer of Samruk-Kazyna, Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund.
The discussions focused on unlocking investment opportunities and highlighting the incentives offered by the State of Qatar to foreign investors. Both sides examined potential areas for enhancing public-private partnerships and fostering long-term cooperation in sectors crucial to national development and economic diversification.
The seventh session of the Qatari-Kazakh Joint Higher Committee marks another milestone in the evolving partnership between the two nations. It reaffirmed a shared vision to achieve sustainable economic growth, promote regional stability, and enhance cultural and economic exchange between Qatar and Kazakhstan.

The conference, held under the auspices of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), aimed to discuss policies and practices related to competition and consumer protection at national and international levels. It also evaluated the implementation of the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection and the United Nations Set of Principles on Competition. The conference addressed several emerging issues, most notably consumer protection in the fields of artificial intelligence and the circular economy, as well as competition in global food value chains. Discussions also covered several key topics, including a review of the implementation of international principles and rules to limit restrictive business practices, and an assessment of two decades of voluntary peer reviews of competition policies and laws among countries. Furthermore, the conference explored ways to achieve greater integration between competition and consumer protection policies, in addition to examining the impact of competition laws on food value chains. The sessions also included presentations of reports by informal working groups on cross-border monopolistic conglomerates, product safety, and consumer protection ine-commerce. Qatar's participation reflects a commitment to strengthening its active presence in international forums and reaffirms its dedication to supporting principles and regulations that enhance competitiveness and protect consumer rights in line with global economicdevelopments. The conference also serves as a vital platform for member states to exchange views and expertise, contributing to the formulation of effective policies that serve the interests of nations and peoples.

AlShaibei presented the honoured employees with certificates of appreciation, in the presence of QIIB Deputy CEO Jamal Abdullah Al Jamal and QIIB Head of Human Resources and Administration Ali Hamad AlMesaifri. This recognition reflects the bank's appreciation for the efforts of employees who, over a quarter of a century, have played a vital role in shaping its journey and driving its achievements. They have been key pillars in the Bank's continued growth and development. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and full line up of Mitsubishi models are presented at the showrooms of Qatar Automobiles Company, the authorized distributor of Mitsubishi in Qatar, on Salwa Road and in Al Khor. The exterior Developed under the design concept 'Daring Grace', the restyled front and rear design coupled with the extended body length create a more unified, sophisticated, sleek and sporty look of an SUV. The front design of the Eclipse Cross adopted Mitsubishi Motors' elegant and sporty Dynamic Shield to express the powerful performance of an SUV. To complete the sharp-looking design, the refreshed lighting layout consists of dauntless front combination lights with daytime running lights and turn signals that emphasize a broader look. The pentagonal headlights (available in halogen and LED types) and fog lights are combined into two characteristic cylinders. The elegant yet sporty form continues to the rear. The double rear windows are merged into a single one for sleeker styling and clearer visibility. The Eclipse Cross's iconic three-dimensional combination taillights, which house signature lights, taillights, spotlights, turn signals and backup lights, are also placed higher for a distinctive rear look that is easy to spot. The interior The interior of the Eclipse Cross is as sophisticated and stylish as its exterior. The seats enjoy a light grey colour option in addition to the existing black one. The upgraded seat materials include a black fabric pattern, grey fabric, synthetic leather (combination of suede and artificial leather) and genuine light grey leather. Passengers can enjoy a more comfortable ride, thanks to several upgrades in the rear seat's elements. The shape of the headrests is modified and larger, and the seats are 9-step adjustable to match the angle preference and offer improved body positioning for rear occupants. A full-colour Head-Up Display (HUD) presents dashboard information, alerts and navigation signals that help drivers acquire information safely and quickly. Specially designed for the Eclipse Cross, the Mitsubishi Power Sound System (MPSS) features eight premium speakers acoustically tuned and positioned precisely for the vehicle's shape to deliver clear and smooth sound quality. Performance Available in 2WD option, the Eclipse Cross comes with two types of engine capacities; a 1.5L DOHC MIVEC turbocharged engine and a 2.0L DOHC MIVEC engine. MIVEC, which stands for Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control system, facilitates a more dynamic driving performance. Boosted road performance is further strengthened by Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC). S-AWC offers integrated control of Active Stability Control (ASC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and Active Yaw Control (AYC) to regulate braking force and torque. The control combined of these systems with fine-tuned rear suspension produces highly stable vehicle behaviour that is true to the driver's intent. Drivers can select different driving modes according to road and driving conditions. The Normal Mode provides the appropriate steering and stability for a broad range of driving scenarios, Snow Mode maintains stable vehicle movement on slippery surfaces, and Gravel Mode generates superior road handling and stability on poor surfaces. Intelligent and advanced safety For the drivers' peace of mind, the Eclipse Cross enjoys intelligent and advanced safety features including Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Multi Around Monitor, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), and parking monitor and sensors. The other active safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control (TCL), and Hill Start Assist (HSA).
