Reports of injuries as multiple vehicle crash blocks SH1 near Taihape

Three vehicles have crashed on State Highway 1, just south of Taihape on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection of the highway and Raumu Rd just after 1pm.
A police spokesperson said there are indications of injuries.
Two rescue helicopters have landed near the crash, RNZ understands.
The road is blocked and diversions are in place.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays.

Drivers are told to delay travel to Kawhia as State Highway 31 is down to one lane. Police say the crash, on Kawhia Road, between Te Rauamoa Road and Harbour Road, was reported about 5pm. Delays are expected for a couple of hours.

Five people were injured, one critically. Photo: RNZ / Cole Eastham-Farrelly Five people have been injured, one critically, in a serious two-vehicle crash in Clive in Hawke's Bay. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Mill and Richmond roads shortly before 9.30am on Sunday. Fire and Emergency shift manager Murray Dunbar said two people trapped in one of the vehicles had to be cut free. A St John ambulance spokesperson said five people were taken to hospital, one with critical injuries, while two patients were in a serious condition, and two others sustained moderate injuries. Police remain at the crash site and said both roads were closed with diversions in place.
