Three held for supplying prohibited drug capsules
These medicines were supplied to Bhagirath Palace market in Delhi from Bhalotia Market in Gorakhpur.
On June 1, a tip-off was received that Harish Khurana, who supplies prohibited psychotropic medicines in the guise of selling ayurvedic medicines, would be coming to deliver Tramadol capsules near Tis Hazari courts.
A trap near Tis Hazari court complex was set, and Harish was nabbed with the prohibited Tramadol capsules, deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Harsh Indora said.
Investigation led police to Bhagirath Palace Market and Bhalotia Market, which is a famous wholesale hub of medicines in eastern UP.
Police arrested Gautam Singh, who operates a small shop in Bhagirath Palace, and Amit Goyal, a medicine shop owner from Bhalotia Market. During questioning, Khurana revealed that he has been involved in the medicine supply business since 1990. He admitted to having been arrested twice before in similar NDPS-related cases. After his release from prison in 2024, he opened a small shop in Bhagirath Palace, where he began selling Ayurvedic medicines. To make more money, he started to procure prohibited medicines from Singh, who also works in Bhagirath Palace, the DCP said.
On interrogation, Singh disclosed that he started as a packer of medicines outside Bhagirath Palace, and after a few years struggle, he opened a small shop and started to sello over-the-counter medicines and cosmetics, etc., at wholesale prices. He came in touch with Goyal of Gorakhpur, who started to supply him with Tramadol capsules, which he sold at a good margin to Khurana.
Later, Goyal disclosed that he has been selling medicines at Bhalotia Market. He used to supply medicines at wholesale prices to Singh. He was asked by Singh to arrange Tramadol.
As the profit in supplying these prohibited medicines is good, he arranged the medicines and started to supply them to Singh through courier, concealed as a normal package, Indora stated.

Woman working as domestic help held with Rs 14 lakh MD drug in Thane
Thane, Aug 7 (PTI) Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman who worked as a domestic help after seizing MD drug (mephedrone) valued at Rs 14 lakh from her in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said on Thursday. Naushin Mainuddin Sheikh, resident of Mumbra, was apprehended on Tuesday evening while she was found moving in a suspicious manner on a road near a defunct hotel in Ulhasnagar, an official from Hill Line police station said. She was stopped and during checking, the police found her in possession of 71.03 grams of MD (mephedrone), a synthetic drug banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is Rs 14,31,120, the official said. During her interrogation, the accused claimed she had procured the drug for sale from a resident of Nalla Sopara in neighbouring Palghar district and efforts were on to nab him, he said. A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. 'We are currently investigating the source of the contraband and its intended recipients," the official added. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has apprehended Jagsir Singh, AKA Baaz Sran, who had been declared a proclaimed offender in 2016. He had been absconding for nine years by frequently changing his identity and location. During his time on the run, Singh gained popularity as a singer on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, amassing millions of views under a different identity. The Chandigarh unit of the NCB apprehended Singh, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana, who was wanted in NCB CZU Crime No. 14/2015 involving the seizure of 36.15 kg of opium. In May, the NCB published his details in leading newspapers and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Based on credible inputs received thereafter, the NCB team successfully apprehended him on August 6. This arrest marks a significant success in the NCB's ongoing efforts against drug trafficking and its associated networks. In a big development in the snake venom case involving Elvish Yadav, the Supreme Court has now granted a stay on trial court proceedings against the YouTuber. A Bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and Joymalya Bagchi issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and the complainant Gaurav Gupta on Wednesday. The apex court was hearing Elvish's plea challenging the chargesheet and the criminal proceedings against him in the case. What Is The Snake Venom Case Involving Elvish Yadav?
