Earlier, in July 31, the UBT leader had raised the issue of India continuing to play cricket matches with Pakistan in Parliament. She said that the Union Minister can stop the match by calling the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah, who is the home minister's son, to stop the match, saying that if the matchers are stopped then it would be a 'victory for Operation Sindoor'.
'I am telling the home Minister, that sir, you will not have to call anywhere, if you tell the ICC chairman (Jay Shah) to stop the India Pakistan match, then the match would not happen, this would be a victory for our Operation Sindoor,' Chaturvedi said in Parliament.
Again on July 29, Chaturvedi had also slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for continuing the Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan, saying 'If this match happens then it is not just the failure of the government, it is also the failure of BCCI that on one hand today is Kargil Day, today we remember our armed forces and pay tribute to those who died fighting for the country, and on the same day the Interior Minister of Pakistan who is the president of PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) announces that Asia Cup is going to be held in UAE.'
Asia Cup is set to commence next month on September 9, with the India Pakistan match at the group stage set to happen on September 14. (ANI)

Kyiv [Ukraine], August 17 (ANI): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he would be meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday for diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, just two days after the 'historic' bilateral meeting between Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska. In a post on X on Saturday, Zelenskyy revealed that he and Trump had held a 'long and substantive' call, beginning with one-on-one talks and later including European leaders in a broader discussion, where Trump briefed him on his recent meeting with Putin. Zelenskyy underscored that Washington has a vital role in efforts to end the conflict. 'We had a long and substantive conversation with @POTUS. We started with one-on-one talks before inviting European leaders to join us. This call lasted for more than an hour and a half, including about an hour of our bilateral conversation with President Trump,' the Ukrainian President said. 'Ukraine reaffirms its readiness to work with maximum effort to achieve peace. President Trump informed about his meeting with the Russian leader and the main points of their discussion. It is important that America's strength has an impact on the development of the situation,' he added. Zelenskyy also welcomed Trump's proposal for a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the US and Russia, underlining Kyiv's commitment to peace and close coordination with international partners. Top Chinese diplomat to visit India for border talks
THE nation's top diplomat will visit India this coming week for talks about their shared boundary, Beijing's foreign ministry said, as the two countries eye resuming border trade five years after halting it. 'From Aug 18 to 20, (Chinese foreign minister) Wang Yi (pic) will upon invitation visit India and hold the 24th special representatives meeting on the China-India border issue,' a spokesperson said in a statement yesterday. Past trade between the neighbours across icy and high-altitude Himalayan border passes was usually small in volume, but any resumption is significant for its symbolism. It stopped following a deadly 2020 clash between border troops. Indian media had reported earlier in the week that Wang was expected for talks in New Delhi tomorrow. His Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar had visited Beijing in July. The two major economic powers have long competed for strategic influence across South Asia. However, caught in global trade and geopolitical turbulence triggered by US President Donald Trump's tariff regime, they have moved to mend ties. In recent weeks, Chinese and Indian officials have said the two countries were discussing resuming border trade.
