The Austrian Grand Prix kicked off at the Red Bull Ring, and last year's winner George Russell picked up right where he left off by topping the first free practice session, FP1. However, the McLaren duo soon made their presence felt, proving they are the dominant force this season.
Lando Norris topped FP2, with Oscar Piastri following closely in second place. One driver who deserves a special mention is rookie Alex Dunne. Replacing Norris in FP1, he impressed with a fourth-place finish in what was his debut F1 outing.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who holds the record for the most wins (four) at the Red Bull Ring — his team's home track — didn't top either of the practice sessions but ensured he stayed within the top three in both.
Similarly, Oscar Piastri remained consistent with top-three finishes in both FP1 and FP2.
George Russell's Mercedes teammate, Kimi Antonelli, now has one less distraction after completing high school, allowing him to fully focus on racing. However, he finished 11th in both sessions.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also failed to impress on Friday, taking 9th in FP1 and 10th in FP2. This weekend also saw the release of the F1 movie, which Hamilton co-produced.

In FP1, Alpine's Pierre Gasly secured fifth place behind Alex Dunne, followed by Gabriel Bortoleto in sixth. The Williams duo, Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, took seventh and eighth, respectively. Racing Bulls' Isack Hadjar rounded out the top ten behind Hamilton.
In FP2, Aston Martin's Lance Stroll delivered a strong performance, finishing fourth. He was followed by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who had skipped FP1 to give F2 driver Dino Beganovic a chance behind the wheel of an F1 car.
Beganovic, however, finished 18th in FP1. Russell came sixth in FP2, followed by Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda in seventh, Bortoleto in eighth, and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso in ninth — just ahead of Hamilton.

Deepika Padukone expresses admiration for Brad Pitt after F1 movie release

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 29 (ANI): Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has publicly expressed her admiration for Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt following the release of his highly anticipated racing film, 'F1.' The actress took to her official Instagram account on Sunday to express her excitement over Brad Pitt's performance in the film. Posting a cheeky tribute on her Instagram stories, Deepika wrote, "Brad Pitt. That's it, that's the post. IYKYK." Since its international release on June 27, 'F1' has garnered widespread praise from both audiences and critics. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, best known for his work on 'Top Gun: Maverick', the film tells the story of Sonny Hayes, a veteran Formula One driver played by Brad Pitt, who makes a comeback to the sport after a 30-year hiatus. The movie is produced in collaboration with Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton, ensuring a high degree of authenticity in the racing world depicted on-screen. The excitement surrounding the movie reached new heights during its celebrity-packed premiere in London, which saw the presence of superstars such as Tom Cruise. 'F1' has also received praise for its all-star ensemble cast, including Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, and others. In the film, Pitt's character, Sonny Hayes, is brought back into the world of Formula One by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (played by Javier Bardem), who now owns a struggling F1 team. As Sonny attempts to help the team make a comeback, he faces challenges both on and off the track, including reconciling with his past. The film's plot revolves around Sonny Hayes, who was once a talented and promising driver before a severe accident ended his career. Decades later, he is convinced to return to the sport by Cervantes, who seeks to revive his failing team. As Sonny works alongside the young and ambitious driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), he must overcome his personal demons and confront the rapidly changing world of Formula 1. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Lewis Hamilton, 'F1' also features a powerful soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer, blending electronic and orchestral sounds to capture the high-octane nature of the sport. The soundtrack includes tracks by artists like Ed Sheeran, ROSÉ, and RAYE. (ANI)

Managing his thoughts! 'Even Virat Kohli was thinking ... ': Rohit Sharma on Kohli's mental strength

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (ICC Photo) NEW DELHI: A year after lifting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados, Rohit Sharma walked down memory lane, reliving one of the most defining moments of India's historic win over South Africa — Virat Kohli 's gritty half-century and his game-changing partnership with Axar Patel. 'If you hit three boundaries in the first over, then obviously, you've started off well,' Rohit said, reflecting on the high-pressure start to the final. 'And that's exactly what every cricketer wants—it helps settle the nerves.' Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! For Rohit, Kohli's poise under pressure wasn't just about his shot-making, but a reflection of his years of experience playing for India. 'The experience of playing for India over so many years also helps in those moments. You learn to control your emotions, manage your thoughts, and stay in the present. I'm sure even he (Virat) was thinking, 'Today is the day—I need to stay focused and not worry about what happened in the past.'' Kohli rose to the occasion when it mattered most—anchoring India's innings with a match-defining 76 and putting together a crucial partnership with Axar Patel after India lost three quick wickets. 'When we lost those three wickets up front, there were definitely nerves inside the dressing room. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? But in the back of my mind, I always had belief in our lower middle order—positions 5, 6, 7, and 8. They hadn't batted much in the tournament, but whenever they got the opportunity, they made it count.' Rohit reserved special praise for Axar Patel, whose 47 off 31 balls was instrumental in tilting the momentum. 'Not many people are talking about Axar's knock, but that innings was a real game-changer,' he said. 'To score 47 off 31 balls at that stage was incredibly crucial.' The Indian captain lauded Kohli for playing the anchor role to perfection, allowing the rest of the batting lineup to play freely. Arshdeep vs Morkel: WWE at the Nets! | Team India's Lighter Moment in Birmingham 'We needed someone to bat through the innings, and Virat did that job perfectly. It was really important for someone to anchor the innings, and he did it brilliantly. That allowed Shivam, Axar, and Hardik to come in and play their roles with freedom—and that's exactly what they did.' In what was a perfect farewell from T20 internationals for both Rohit and Kohli, the final at Kensington Oval became a lasting memory of composure, experience, and team effort—and at the heart of it stood Virat Kohli, delivering when India needed him most. 'I made your name': Ex-England cricketer on Sachin Tendulkar vs Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli bows down to Sachin Tendulkar after breaking his record of most number of centuries in the ODIs during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Former England cricketer Allan Lamb has picked his favourite Indian batter of all time. The 71-year-old, who represented England in three World Cups and 79 Tests, said Sachin Tendulkar is the best India has ever produced. "Sachin easily," Lamb told PTI. He then explained how he helped make Sachin's career: "I played against him when he was 18. I dropped him at slip and he went on to get 100 (in a Test match). So I always say to him, it was me that made your name." Arshdeep vs Morkel: WWE at the Nets! | Team India's Lighter Moment in Birmingham Lamb then explained why he picked Tendulkar ahead of Gavaskar and Kohli. "Kohli is a brilliant player, he's got all the shots, he can score quickly. But if you want the best player I played against, that Indian player is Sachin, even ahead of Sunny. "The only thing I would have liked was to see Sachin play against the West Indies, where Sunny scored runs against the West Indies. He was probably the only Indian to score runs against those quicks," he said. Poll Do you agree with Allan Lamb's choice of Sachin Tendulkar as the best Indian batter? Yes No Not Sure But Lamb's favourite Indian cricketer of all time was his former Northamptonshire teammate Kapil Dev . "I loved the way Kapil Dev played. We played together at Northampton," he recalled. "I remember him coming over and me saying, 'Kapi, I'm so pleased that you've come over. We need to strengthen our bowling.' He said, 'No, I haven't come to strengthen my bowling. I've come to better my batting. I've come here as a batsman,' which I always enjoyed," he added.
