Zizzi Newport to give away free sundaes if it's hot enough

The offer is available at the Newport branch in Friars Walk, as part of a nationwide promotion running throughout July.
The Italian restaurant chain will give away 29 free sundaes per location each time the temperature reaches 29°C, totalling more than 4,000 free desserts across the UK.
To claim a sundae, customers simply need to show that the temperature at their current location is 29°C or higher on their phone's weather app.
Katy Lomax, brand and customer experience director at Zizzi, said: "We know that Brits are obsessed with discussing the weather, and there's nothing better than something refreshing to cool you down on a hot day, especially when it's free.
"We want to help as many people as possible beat the heat with one of our delicious sundaes.
"Get them while it's hot."
Sundae options include the Caramello, made with salted caramel and vanilla gelato, whipped cream, honeycomb cheesecake, salted caramel sauce, caramel crunch, and a stroopwafel.
The Dragon Fruit & Wild Strawberry sundae features dragon fruit sorbet, panna cotta and wild strawberry gelato, pink meringue, whipped cream, and strawberry coulis.
The Chocolate Brownie sundae combines chocolate and salted caramel gelato with brownie pieces, whipped cream, honeycomb, and both chocolate and salted caramel sauces.
The Caramello and Dragon Fruit & Wild Strawberry sundaes are part of Zizzi's summer special menu and can also be enjoyed as part of the three-course Summer Set Menu, which starts at £27.50.

Credit: Alamy However, there's one ice cream more legendary than any other - the classic 99 flake. Inflation means you can no longer pick up a Flake 99 for a mere 99p - leading many sweet fans to wonder where the name actually comes from. Given that 99 cones used to be priced under a quid, many tend to assume that's how they acquired their iconic name. However, contrary to popular opinion, the moniker derives from the flake rather than the ice cream itself. Reportedly, Cadbury - the brand behind the flakes - opted to choose the numeric name to attract Italian customers. The sweet manufacturer disclosed that they initiated this practice back in 1930. A spokesperson on the Cadbury website explained: "An ice cream served in a cone with a Flake 99 is the UK's favourite ice cream. UK Basks in Glorious Sunshine: Thousands Flock to Beaches as Heatwave Hits "When Cadbury launched its small Flake for ice creams in 1930, the UK ice cream industry was dominated by expat Italians. ''So, to appeal to Italians we called our superb Flake a '99'." An even more arcane fact is that the number 99 is IC in Roman numerals - the initials of "ice cream". Yellow heat health alerts, issued by the UK Health Security Agency, are in place for most of England – excluding the north-east and north-west – from Monday to Wednesday. The Met Office said: "A combination of high pressure and a southerly airflow will see temperatures rise for much of England and Wales in the first half of the week. "Temperatures reaching in excess of 30°C for some on Monday and likely peaking towards the mid-30s in London on Tuesday. In London, temperatures are forecast to reach 29C on Monday, rise to 32C on Tuesday and hit 28C on Wednesday. Highs of 32C are expected on Wednesday while temperatures could reach 31C on Monday. The Met Office says the official heatwave criteria will be met across many areas, with three consecutive days of temperatures above thresholds that range between 25C and 28C depending on location. The warm spell marks a sharp turnaround from earlier in the week when Storm Floris brought heavy rain and strong winds to parts of the UK. Forecasters say hot air will be drawn up from the south due to the interaction between high pressure drifting across southern Britain and an area of low pressure. England and Wales will enjoy the best of the sunshine, although a few scattered thunderstorms are possible. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland and Scotland can expect outbreaks of rain at times, especially on Monday.

'I visited 17 European cities in a year — skip these 3 for a better time'

A travel influencer and foodie has revealed the three European cities she 'would have skipped' after spending time in 17 different destinations across the continent One woman has revealed the three European destinations she'd avoid going to again, having visited 17 different cities last year. Sooyeon, who lives in San Francisco in the US, went on the adventure of a lifetime to visit the continent. ‌ Having stopped off at more than a dozen cities, she found herself disappointed by three locations in particular. On her TikTok channel @soos. foods, she revealed: "These are three cities I probably would've skipped," before clarifying, "Doesn't mean these are bad destinations, I just didn't enjoy them as much as other cities." ‌ Madrid topped her list of disappointments, reports the Manchester Evening News. Despite spending two and a half days there in 2022 following a visit to Barcelona, she confessed that the coastal city won her over far more than Spain's majestic capital. ‌ She explained: "The main reason is because I went to both Madrid and Barcelona on the same trip, and I feel like Madrid didn't have as many interesting things to do for me at least, other than the palace and museums. "...If I were to do this trip again, I would probably skip Madrid and spend more time in Barcelona." Catania proved another destination that failed to meet Sooyeon's hopes. ‌ Situated on Sicily's eastern coastline, the ancient port city initially appeared like a perfect 'Italian holiday' destination, yet it didn't match her expectations. Sooyeon shared: "The city just felt a little run down and not the safest. "People were also not afraid to stare at you - I'm sure they weren't trying to be rude or mean, but it felt a little uncomfortable as a female traveller." Berlin also featured on Sooyeon's list, though her concerns with the German capital differed from her gripes about Catania and Madrid. ‌ She recognised Berlin's 'welcoming' atmosphere and its selection of 'cool cafes, shops and roads', yet felt something was missing. "Don't get me wrong, I would love to live in Berlin," Sooyeon confessed. "But, as a tourist, I feel like the main attractions are history museums which I personally am not the biggest on, especially because at this point on my trip I was getting severe museum fatigue." She also observed that the dining scene was rather international, making it trickier for her to discover genuine local dishes, which remains a priority during her travels. ‌ "The food scene was also pretty international, so I didn't find as many options for authentic local food, which is something I try to eat everywhere I go. Again, this is just my experience - what doesn't work for me, could work for you." Sooyeon's honest assessments triggered a wave of reactions on TikTok, with users split over her views on these beloved destinations. One user championed Madrid, declaring: "I will not accept any Madrid slander! I've been like four times and it's an incredible city." Others urged travellers not to dismiss Catania, with one comment stating: "Everyone here pls don't skip Catania," whilst another user challenged her perception of Berlin's cleanliness: "Berlin is clean? What girl?"

Woman visits TK Maxx for shopping trip and is blown away by what she found

A woman couldn't believe her eyes while she was shopping in a TK Maxx and suddenly came across a discontinued item that retails for £300 - and people are now rushing to see if they can find it Shoppers are rushing to TK Maxx after one woman spotted a discontinued but well-loved perfume hiding in plain sight on a shelf. ‌ TK Maxx is known for selling bargain items at a discounted rate. Known as TJ Maxx in the US, the chain opened its first store in the UK in 1994, but with the name TK Maxx. The name change was done to avoid confusion with the unrelated British retail chain T.J. Hughes. Since then, it's continued to be a popular store among brits wanting to bargain hunt, as over 450 TK Maxx and Homesense stores have opened across the UK. ‌ The store is just as popular in the US. One of its many fans is Crys, who often takes to her TikTok account to share the fun and unique things she finds in the store. ‌ However, as she was doing her rounds one day, she quickly stopped in her tracks and started filming as she couldn't believe the items she found. Taking to TikTok, she shared how happy she was to find the discontinued Taylor Swift perfume, Wonderstruck, available on the shelf. "Just browsing the perfume section at TJ Maxx when I come across..." she wrote on the video as the camera moved to show the different perfumes available. ‌ She then stopped on the purple patterned box that contained the perfume, which was initially released in October 2011. However, it was later discontinued for an unknown reason. It's currently being resold on eBay for over £25-£350, with fans still being nostalgic of the smell. "Immediately added to the cart," Crys wrote on the video as she was seen placing it in her shopping cart. She went on to write in the caption of the video: "When you find THE Taylor Swift perfume at @TJMaxx! never smelled it before so I can't wait to try." The perfume in question is described online to smell sweet and fruity, with raspberry, blackberry, tea, apple blossom and freesia being the top notes, mixed in with middle notes of vanilla, honeysuckle, and hibiscus, as well as base notes of peach, sandalwood, amber, and musk. ‌ In a follow-up video posted on the same day, she went on to reveal the TJ Maxx sticker, which showed she bought it for £5.99 ($7.99). The video soon racked up over 213,500 views, with many people taking to the comments to share their thoughts. "That's £2,000 in your hand right now," one person commented. Meanwhile, a second person said: "I miss this smell!!!" "Wait not even kidding this exact thing happened to me like 5 years ago and I got it," a third person shared. "Omg I loved that perfume," another person said. However, another questioned: "Okay so either they're selling incredibly expired products which is illegal OR wonderstruck is still being made?? Which is it."
