Arsenal respond after top target Viktor Gyokeres snubs Man Utd transfer

Arsenal and Manchester United have been heavily linked with Viktor Gyokeres but the Sporting Lisbon star is now said to have ruled out a summer move to Old Trafford Arsenal are said to be readying an offer for Viktor Gyokeres with the Sporting Lisbon striker seemingly not interested in reuniting with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. Gyokeres, 27, has been heavily linked with both the Gunners and United after another fine season in Portugal, where his goals fired Sporting to another league title. And after plenty of talk about a blockbuster transfer, it seems things are finally starting to happen. ‌ Arsenal and United are both in the market for more firepower, with the former understood to be targeting either Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. ‌ United are coming off the back of their worst ever Premier League campaign and, with that in mind, Portuguese outlet Record claims Gyokeres' representatives have told the Red Devils he will not be joining them this summer. And in a double whammy for United the report adds that Arsenal are now 'preparing a second offer' for the striker in a bid to bring him to north London. It's claimed that Sporting have already rejected an offer from Arsenal in the hope of banking at least €70million (£59.2m) before agreeing to part ways with their star forward. It remains to be seen if Arsenal do put down a fresh offer for Gyokeres given the recent noise centred around Sesko; the Slovenia striker, like Gyokeres, is expected to move this summer and has no shortage of suitors and Arsenal have held transfer talks. In Gyokeres' case, he is known to have an £85m release clause in his contract. It was, however, reported that the club would sanction an exit for just £59m this summer. ‌ Join the debate! Where do you think Gyokeres will be playing next season? Let us know here Frederico Varandas, Sporting's president, has disputed that, though, in the recent days. Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, hesaid: "I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros because I never promised that. "To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres - neither today nor last season." ‌ "Sporting will not demand the release clause, but they should know me better by now: threats, blackmail, insults, they don't work with me," he added. "I can guarantee one thing: Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60m + €10m. He won't leave because I never allowed it, and with this game that the agent is playing, the situation will only get worse."

Arsenal sent Foden transfer message as Man City accept defeat on Grealish exit

Former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino believes Arsenal should try and sign Manchester City star Phil Foden this summer, while Jack Grealish could depart on loan Arsenal have been urged to sign Phil Foden this summer, with Pep Guardiola revamping his Manchester City squad. City spent big in the January transfer window on the likes of Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez and Abdukodir Khusanov, while Kevin De Bruyne has been released. Guardiola has also signed four new players already this summer, with Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri all joining City. Jack Grealish is among those expected to leave City, having been left out of their squad for the Club World Cup. ‌ However, City are struggling to find buyers for the 29-year-old, who is earning £300,000-a-week at the Etihad and it has been reported that they are now willing to send him out on loan and pay a percentage of his salary. ‌ The likes of Newcastle and Napoli have both been mooted as potential destinations for Grealish, but one club that have been told not to sign him are Arsenal. Former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino believes the Gunners should make a move for Foden instead. When asked if Grealish would be a good signing for Arsenal, Casarino told talkSPORT: "No, I think Foden's way more likely. Obviously Arteta worked at Man City with Phil Foden and for whatever reason, I'm sure we'll find out down the line, Phil Foden just hasn't been the player we know him to be this season. "From where he was the Football Writers' Player of the Year the season before, his performances this year have just not justified that. But all that's happening at City and all the spending that's gone on, I wouldn't be surprised if Foden is allowed to go somewhere. "Whether City let him go Arsenal, I don't know, but they let Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko go there. If Arsenal could get him, I think Arteta would really consider that, yeah. Foden is only 26, so he's still got a lot of football in him. "For whatever reason he's had a disappointing year, and I'm sure Arteta would know what's happened and gone on behind the scenes at City, absolutely. And I know some Arsenal fans will say, 'But he's had a poor year', but Phil Foden's a very gifted footballer. A terrific player. "He doesn't want to go into the next season being in and out of a team when there's a World Cup in the summer. Otherwise he won't play, no chance. And what have City spent in the last two windows? They must be close to £300million." ‌ Foden scored 27 goals and provided 13 assists in the 2023-24 campaign, but managed just 16 goal contributions the following season. And Foden revealed last month that he had been struggling throughout the campaign with personal issues and injuries. "It's been a frustrating season for me," said Foden. "I've had a lot of things going on off the pitch mentally. It's one of them, sometimes there's things in life that are bigger than football. This season I've struggled a little bit. "Hopefully come next year I can get my head mentally right and get back where I left off the season before, because I know what I'm capable of doing and the quality I have."

Surprise Euro club 'enter transfer race' for Celtic ace Taylor

The full-back, 27, is set to end a six-year stay with Celtic this summer after his contract expired in Glasgow. Kieran Tierney has been officially announced as a Celtic player again as he returned from Arsenal, casting doubt over Taylor's position under Brendan Rodgers. The Celtic boss had spoken of his desire to keep Taylor but the left-back is expected to move on with a number of interested clubs. Greek side PAOK looked to be leading the race to sign Taylor but now Champions League club Copenhagen have reportedly signalled their interest. Read more: According to The Scottish Sun, chiefs at the Danish club have shown interest in signing Taylor in a free transfer move. The Danish champions have Birger Meling as an option in the position, but could look to add Taylor this summer with the future of Marcos Lopez unclear. Lopez had been signed on loan last year with Copenhagen holding an option to make the move permanent, but no news on whether the option will be triggered has been released. It's further claimed that two English clubs are interested in Taylor.
