Americans reacts to Eben Etzebeth: 'Don't mess with him!'
An American basketball player has hilariously reacted to scenes of Eben Etzbeth doing what he does best on the pitch – brawling and intimidating his opponents. The highest-capped Springbok is known for being one of the 'scariest' players in the game, thanks to his fierce appearance and attitude. In a viral TikTok video, US basketball player Kolton Kohl reacted to a clip of Eben Etzebeth on the pitch. He said: 'I am looking at him and he is the BrocLesnarer of rugby…Imagine being the ref trying to talk to him!' Comparing Eben to a 'steel pole', he added: 'Don't mess with him!' @rugby_overdose American🇺🇸 reacts to Eben Etzebeth for the first time #rugby #viral #xyzbca #like #follow #bighits #tackle #worldcup #rugbyhits #bestsport #rugbyforlife #rugbyplayer #rugbyleague #rugbylife #schoolboyrugby #rugbyedits #rugbyexercise #rugbyworld #rugbyworldcup #springboks #japan #allblacksrugby #australia #england #ireland #fiji #france #2024 #2025 ♬ original sound – Rugby Overdose It's not the first time Eben Etzebeth has had grown men on the internet quivering at the sight of him. Last year, a UFC commentator labelled Eben a 'monster' after he was spotted with World Champion Dricus du Plessis. 'Who is that guy?' the man asked. Meanwhile, Eben Etzebeth will soon swap his aggressive antics for daddy duty as he prepares to welcome another baby. Last month, the lock and his wife Anlia announced that they were expecting their second child, a baby girl. Anlia – a professional singer -announced in a sweet Instagram post. The Art Lab: A space for collaboration, experimentation, and creativity at Nelson Mandela Square
Works featured in the Art Lab's first exhibition are part of the Standard Bank's extensive Corporate Art Collection. Standard_Bank Art Lab Gallery Curator and Manager Dr Same Mdluli at the exhibition. Picture: Supplied 'Artists reach areas far beyond the reach of politicians,' said former President Nelson Mandela. Many politicians do not share Mandela's sentiment, and this is probably why most governments rarely dedicate a significant portion of their budgets to the arts, amidst all the world's issues. The vacuum left by the government in this regard has led to corporations stepping in as the biggest supporters of art, therefore making them the biggest collectors of art. Although Mandela's words, quoted above from 2001, were directed at a group of musicians who had just performed at a South African celebration in Trafalgar Square, London, I couldn't help but think of them as the Standard Bank Art Lab was launched at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton City last week. Together with the Nando's Art Collection and the Spier Art Collection, the South African bank is one of the biggest art collectors in the country. ALSO READ: Ricollin Moodley uses lipstick art to honour former Springbok winger Cornal Hendricks The Art Lab's first exhibition The Art Lab is positioned as a space for collaboration, experimentation, and creativity. The inaugural exhibition theme, Follow the Blue Thread: It's Woven Into Who We Are, is one that celebrates the transformative power of African art through the medium of tapestry. Woven from mohair and realised through collaborations between artists and master weavers, the works reflect a longstanding connection between the textile and visual arts, as well as an extension of this connection between commerce, craft, and culture. Works featured in the exhibition are part of the Standard Bank's extensive Corporate Art Collection. The works include Tito Zungu's hand-woven mohair tapestry, Building 1, and Willie Bester's Sunday Morning, also a hand-woven mohair tapestry. Curator and Gallery Manager Dr Same Mdluli says that featuring works by artists such as Sam Nhlengethwa, William Kentridge and Miriam Ndebele, among others, the exhibition reimagines the corporate collection not as a static archive but as a living resource. 'In doing so, it asks vital questions: What cultural memory do collections preserve? Whose stories do they tell? And how might they contribute to the creative economies of tomorrow?,' she asks. 'We're thrilled to present this contemporary art exhibition at Sandton City, part of our Liberty2Degrees property portfolio,' said the bank's Group Chief Operating Officer Margaret Nienaber. 'This space is designed to foster collaboration among artists, clients, and the wider community, all in support of a thriving creative economy.' Sipho Mbule's agent confirms offer to Kaizer Chiefs
Sipho Mbule's name is once again making headlines, this time as his agent, Mike Makaab, confirms that the 27-year-old midfielder has officially been offered to Kaizer Chiefs. Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Makaab reversed an earlier stance taken in a FARPost article, where he had dismissed reports linking Mbule with a surprise move to Naturena ahead of the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership season. In a sharp clarification, Makaab stated: 'Let me set the record straight. Sipho Mbule has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs. It is up to the club(Kaizer Chiefs) to make the decision and we need to respect that decision.' Mbule's time at Mamelodi Sundowns has come to a premature end. Although his contract technically runs until 30 June 2025, the club decided not to activate a two-year extension clause. According to reports, ongoing concerns about his conduct away from the pitch influenced that decision. Signed in 2022 from SuperSport United, Mbule was once seen as a marquee acquisition for the Brazilians. However, his performances never quite lived up to the hype during his underwhelming stint at Chloorkop. In a bid to rediscover his form, Mbule joined Sekhukhune United on a season-long loan. Under coach Lehlohonolo Seema, he showed early promise, scoring twice and assisting three times in 17 appearances across all competitions. But his return to form was short-lived. Reports emerged that Mbule arrived at training under the influence of alcohol, reigniting the same concerns that plagued his time at Sundowns. Mbule's exit has sparked widespread discussion on social media and among Kaizer Chiefs supporters. Some fans see him as a creative spark the club desperately needs, while others warn that his off-field track record makes him too much of a gamble. Now, with his agent confirming that the ball is in Chiefs' court, the club faces a pivotal decision. Will Kaizer Chiefs take a chance on Sipho Mbule?
