Eddie Howe admits he is not in ‘full control' of Alexander Isak's future
NEWCASTLE BOSS EDDIE Howe has admitted that he is not in 'full control' over Alexander Isak's future. Isak has been heavily linked with Liverpool after it was reported the 25-year-old was keen to explore a move away from Newcastle. Advertisement The Sweden striker still has three years left on his contract at Newcastle, who he joined in the summer of 2022 from Spanish side Real Sociedad, but has been absent from the club's pre-season tour of the Far East. 'He is still our player. He's contracted to us,' Howe said at a press conference in Seoul on Tuesday. 'We, to a degree, control what is next for him. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. 'My wish is that he stays, but that's not in my full control. 'We have not received a formal offer for Alex, from any club. My wish is that he stays and we see him playing again next year.' Liverpool are expected to step up in their interest in Isak – who scored 23 goals last season as Newcastle qualified for the Champions League – with their Colombia forward Luis Diaz on the brink of joining Bayern Munich.

League of Ireland legend backs Oasis inspired fundraiser for cancer-hit family
League of Ireland legend Dane Massey has given his backing to a fundraiser that has been inspired by the collaboration between Bohemians and rock legends Oasis. Junior football giants Templeogue United have released a jersey with 'over35s' in the iconic Oasis font where the sponsor's logo would be. The shirt retails at €35, with all proceeds going to the O'Neill family, who have been 'at the heart' of Templeogue United 'for over 30 years'. According to the club website: 'The O'Neills have been lifelong supporters, players, and volunteers at Templeogue United. But tragedy has touched their lives not once, but twice. 'Their son Tiernan tragically passed away from cancer at the age of 15. And now, heartbreakingly, their 17-year-old son Ultan is facing his own battle with cancer. 'This jersey is more than fabric – it's a tribute to the O'Neill family's resilience, and a way for our community to stand firmly beside them during this unimaginable time.' Massey, a five-time Premier Division winner with Dundalk, now lines out for Templeogue's Over-35s. A key figure in Stephen Kenny's all-conquering Lilywhites outfit, he also collected three FAI Cups, and was named in the PFA Ireland Team of the Year in 2015. Massey, now 37, played in Dundalk's historic Europa League group stage campaign, while injury meant he missed their return to the group stages in 2020. His eight-year spell at Oriel Park came to an end when he joined Louth rivals Drogheda United ahead of the 2021 season, while he finished his League of Ireland career at his first senior club Bray Wanderers. According to the Templeogue website, the shirt is 'inspired by the iconic Bohemian FC x Oasis collaboration. 'All proceeds from the jersey sales go directly to the O'Neills. Whether it's to ease financial pressure or simply show them they're not alone, every contribution helps. 'The jersey may echo a famous design, but this one is uniquely ours. It's a grassroots fundraiser, built on friendship, loyalty, and the belief that football clubs should always look after their own.' You can buy the shirt here.
