9 held for trying to grab Goregaon plot
According to the complaint lodged by Bub, 46, Khan and his eight henchmen barged into the factory premises of Lakshmi Asbestos Products Ltd on May 9. They were armed with rods, pistols, swords and knives, and used a bulldozer and JCBs to dump mud and debris in the compound. They assaulted the security guards who tried to stop them, claiming the plot belonged to them. The manager of the company, Dharmendra Somani, was also assaulted with rods and a sword when he tried to intervene in the matter.
Khan and the other accused threatened to kill Somani and the security guards, Bub mentioned in the complaint. They left the premises after Somani called Bub but asked for the plot to be vacated within 24 hours.
Bub then approached the Bangur Nagar police. Based on his complaint, Khan and the other eight accused were booked under section 25 (3) (illegal sale or transfer of firearms, ammunition, or other arms) of the Arms Act along with sections 115 (2) (voluntary causing hurt), 190 (unlawful assembly), 191 (rioting), 333 (trespassing), 189 (4) (armed with deadly weapon), 189 (2) (unlawful assembly), and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The nine accused were arrested on Wednesday and produced before the court on Thursday. They were remanded in police custody till May 19.
'We are trying to find out if someone gave them a contract to get the plot vacated and if they are connected to the land mafia or the builder lobby,' said an officer from the Bangur Nagar police station.
Khan had been arrested on charges of extortion less than a year ago, on July 15, 2024, after he allegedly kidnapped a hawker from Malad in his BMW and assaulted him for refusing to pay protection money.

Gunshots fired at Kharar home; bullets hit gate, car
Mohali: Panic gripped Tole Majra village in Kharar early Monday morning after unidentified miscreants opened fire at a private residence. The bullets struck the house gate, a cooler, and shattered the rear windshield of a car parked in the porch. The attack occurred at 2.46 am at the home of Sandeep Singh, a professional involved in OTT platform development. According to DSP Karan Singh Sandhu, the incident was captured on CCTV, though the shooters' faces remain unidentified. Police found 5-6 bullet shells at the crime spot. Police confirmed that no extortion threats or rivalries have been reported by Singh. The footage shows multiple shots being fired, with the sound of gunfire clearly audible. Authorities have seized the CCTV footage and are using technical and human intelligence to trace the culprits. An FIR under the Arms Act has been registered at Kharar police station against unknown persons.

Police arrest notorious bicycle thief; recover stolen cycles
Jaipur: A team of Vidyadhar Nagar police arrested a bicycle thief and recovered 19 high-end cycles stolen from various neighborhoods in Jaipur Monday. DCP (North) Karan Sharma said that the accused, Rahil Swami alias Kabbu, is a resident of Old Vidyadhar Nagar and admitted to stealing over 50 bicycles. Police teams analysed more than 100 CCTV camera footages from across the area to identify and track the suspect. Swami, who is reportedly addicted to drugs, was seen entering residential colonies and walking away with unlocked bicycles left outside homes and parks. The arrest was made on Aug 2 following a complaint filed by a local resident who reported the theft of a child's bicycle from a park on Vishwakarma Road. Acting on the complaint, special teams were formed under the supervision of Additional DCP (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat and ACP Shastrinagar Shivratan Godara. Two constables, part of the surveillance team, identified Swami from the footage and tracked him down. He was arrested while riding a stolen bicycle. Police said Swami has eight previous cases registered against him, including theft, burglary, and violations of the Arms Act. The 19 recovered bicycles are of various expensive brands, and further investigations are ongoing to trace their original owners. The accused admitted to targeting areas including Vidyadhar Nagar, Vishwakarma, Shastrinagar, and Murlipura. Officials said his arrest will help crack several unsolved bicycle thefts in the region. Additional charges may be filed as interrogation continues. "He is also a drug addict and needed money to buy drugs. However, he could not find any stable employment due to his drug habits. He said he also tried to steal motorcycles but found it very difficult and decided to target bicycles, which were easy to sell in the black market," said an official.
