More kidneys needed for Rolls Royce: DMK MLA's remark sparks BJP, AIADMK outrage

India Today2 days ago
Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai and AIADMK General Secretary Edapadi K Palanisamy have strongly condemned DMK Manachanallur MLA Kathiravan for his controversial remarks regarding a kidney-stealing racket.Annamalai shared a video on X where Kathiravan, whose hospitals are under investigation for alleged kidney smuggling, said, 'After doctor fee and medical expenses, I may get Rs 2 to 3 lakh. Do you know the cost of my father's Rolls Royce car? It is 14.5 crore. The total operation I've done is 252. With Rs 2 lakh as profit, when will I buy Rolls Royce? I could have only bought it if I had removed all the kidneys from Thirupathur people. My only worry is that no one spoke about me saving 252 lives. No one is speaking about it.'Here is Manachanallur DMK MLA Thiru Kathiravan, boasting without shame. In a video, he compares the profit from illegal kidney operations at his Trichy hospital to the 14.5 crore price of his father's Rolls-Royce, admitting he'd need to remove all the kidneys in Thirupattur to pic.twitter.com/4PqAJYeyEj— K.Annamalai (@annamalai_k) August 13, 2025advertisementReacting to the video, Annamalai said, 'This is not a joke. Poor weavers from Namakkal were lured, their kidneys stolen, and the MLA himself admits his hospital made at least Rs 7.5 crore from this trade. Yet, the DMK government has taken no concrete action. Has their functionary Dravida Anandan, the middleman in this kidney theft racket, even been arrested?'
Edapadi K Palanisamy advised the public against visiting clinics run by DMK members. 'Don't even visit clinics run by DMK men even by mistake. You may lose your kidney. A group is prevailing which shows money to poor and is stealing organs. DMK government itself constituted a committee which investigated and discovered kidney stealing in a hospital belonging to DMK MLA. Was there action taken? NO,' he said, adding that only the license for organ transplant in the hospital was cancelled, with no arrests made.'The MLA says that for buying a Rolls Royce car, he might have to remove people's kidneys. His car is worth Rs 12 crore. He has admitted how many kidneys he needs to steal to buy the car, which is evident from the speech,' Edapadi claimed.- EndsTune InMust Watch

Businessman cheated: Court rejects anticipatory bail plea of accused in Rs 43 crore ‘dabba trading'

In a case filed by the police for alleged cheating of a city-based businessman to the tune of nearly Rs 43 crore in 'dabba trading', a court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the accused. A case was filed by the L T Marg police against Ladulal Kanther, his son Pallav Kanther and nephew Shubham Mahavir Kanther earlier this month on allegations that they had cheated the complainant businessman. The court rejected the pre-arrest bail plea of Shubham on Thursday. 'The investigation is at initial stage. Yet the huge quantity of gold and money is to be recovered. The offence is of a serious nature. A detailed investigation is necessary. The possibility of tampering with prosecution evidence cannot be ruled out,' the court said. The allegations against the accused are that they had met the complainant through a chartered accountant and presented themselves to be engaged in trading of gold and silver through their firms, Maxis Bullion and Pallav Gold, with the promise of good returns on their investments. It was alleged that the complainant had initially invested Rs 2.2 crore which was repaid by the accused and subsequently invested 36.4kg gold and Rs 10.51 crore in cash between 2023 and 2024. The accused delayed repayment business citing slowdown due to gold price fluctuations and assured repayment once operations normalised. As the repayment kept getting delayed, the accused admitted to have invested in an illegal speculative gambling activity, referred to as dabba trading, for betting on stock prices outside the exchange. The complainant alleged that cheques issued by the accused for repayment too were dishonoured. Shubham in his plea claimed that he was falsely implicated and that this was not a criminal case but a civil dispute. The court said that a probe is necessary into the allegations and rejected the plea.

Double standards of Centre and State govt. exposed one more time, alleges KTR

HYDERABAD Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has ridiculed the double standards of the NDA government and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), stating that they are not acting on the sinking of the coffer dam of the Polavaram project for the second time. In a statement, Mr. Rao said on Saturday that the NDSA had not taken up investigation into the washing away of the Polavaram cofferdam in 2020 that happened for the first time, even after being asked to go into the matter. The NDA government gave national project status to Polavaram and funded its construction - but is not looking into the quality aspects of construction, he said. During the run-up to the last Assembly elections in Telangana, a few piers of the Medigadda Barrage of Kaleshwaram project sank and damaged the structure under suspicious circumstances, but neither the BJP leaders nor those of the Congress, who had been indulging in mudslinging on Kaleshwaram project continuously, and terming it as 'kuleshwaram' (a collapsed project) repeatedly - had raised an issue on Polavaram, Mr. Rao said. He sought to know if the BJP and the Congress have the guts to term Polavaram as 'kulavaram' since its coffer dam was washed away once and sunk for the second time. In the second instance, it sunk for 10 meters width and about 8 meters deep, and the Andhra Pradesh government had taken up repairs on a war-footing silently, he said. On the other hand, the 'foolishness' of the Congress government is preventing it from taking up repairs on Medigadda Barrage and in giving water to the large ayacut depending on waters lifted from the point, even 20 months after coming to power, he said. Further, the NDSA proved its double standards by not taking up investigation into the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse in February that buried eight workers, technicians and engineers alive. It is also indicative of the Congress-BJP conspiracy against Kaleshwaram, he alleged.

Court rejects bizman's bail plea in 4cr trust misappropriation case

Mumbai: Sessions court rejected the bail plea of Shamsher Talwar, a businessman accused of misappropriating approximately Rs 3.5 crore from two trusts citing forged documents and his lack of cooperation with the ongoing investigations. Talwar served as a trustee and secretary for both Sanatan Dharma Sabha Trust and Kolwada Sanatan Dharma Sabhas Education Society Trust. The trusts were granted a plot of land at Sion Koliwada, Antop Hill, by BMC for conducting school activities of Shri Sanatan Dharma Sabha. It is alleged that Talwar and his wife, also an accused, improperly developed a turf on the land without approval from the board of trustees and are accused of collecting Rs 3.5 crore from private users of the turf. Talwar was arrested on May 22 by EOW. The prosecution submitted that a meeting of trustees, held on March 15, 2020, never occurred. The minutes of this meeting, which Talwar's defence used to argue that the turf proposal was approved, were allegedly forged.
