PM Anwar to close Perak MADANI Rakyat 2025 in Lumut
Marking the final day of the public outreach initiative, the event will include a satellite programme in which Anwar is scheduled to visit the Royal Malaysian Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and attend a kenduri rakyat (communal feast) with naval personnel at the Lumut naval base.
As part of the closing proceedings, the prime minister will present a symbolic cheque for the Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI (SejaTi MADANI) initiative, before touring service booths set up by various ministries and government agencies.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad are also expected to attend.
The day's activities include a public health forum titled War on Sugar, healthy cooking demonstrations by the Health Ministry and financial literacy sessions under the Let's Save with NUR@PETRA initiative. Cybersecurity awareness is also on the agenda, with talks on scam prevention and a Kahoot-based quiz challenge.
Cultural performances from traditional troupe Selendang Perak, buskers and prize giveaways round out the day's programme.
Perak is the second state to host the large-scale PMR event, organised by the Prime Minister's Department's Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) in collaboration with the Higher Education Ministry. The first edition was held in Tawau, Sabah from May 9 to 11.

PETALING JAYA : Pakatan Harapan (PH) MP Syahredzan Johan has questioned whether a suit filed by lawyer P Waytha Moorthy against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is linked to Waytha's recent meeting with Bersatu leaders. Earlier today, FMT reported that Waytha had filed a suit seeking a declaration that Anwar should not have been elected as Tambun MP in November 2022 and appointed prime minister. In a Facebook post, Bangi MP Syahredzan said that while anyone has the right to file court proceedings, he felt the suit against Anwar was 'frivolous and vexatious' as the latter has been prime minister for close to three years. He also noted that Waytha had even previously hailed Anwar, the Pakatan Harapan chairman, as the best man to head the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra). 'Is this not acknowledgement that Anwar is legally the prime minister? 'Anwar has been the Tambun MP for 996 days. (But) Waytha only wants to disqualify Anwar (now)? 'Is it a coincidence that Waytha met Bersatu leaders last month, and today we are told about this suit against Anwar?' said Syahredzan. Malaysian Advancement Party president Waytha was among the leaders from political parties outside the government bloc who met Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss the formation of a united opposition front. In his Facebook post, Syahredzan also pointed out that Waytha, who was a minister in Dr Mahathir Mohamad's Cabinet from 2018 to 2020, did not object when Anwar contested and won a 2018 by-election for the Port Dickson parliamentary seat. 'Waytha did not have a problem with it at the time,' added Syahredzan, who is a lawyer by training. 'He did not file any suit to disqualify Anwar then, even until Parliament was dissolved in 2022.'

ILMU is Malaysia's own multimodal large language model (LLM), trained on local language and data to understand our culture, context and daily realities. Fully developed, owned and operated in Malaysia, it is built by YTL AI Labs, in partnership with Universiti Malaya (UM). ILMU keeps data local and gives the nation strategic control over its AI future, ensuring we lead with intelligence rooted in our own values and voice. The name ILMU stands for Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu, reflecting the model's core values of 'Intelek', for context-aware intelligence; 'Luhur', for ethical foundations rooted in Malaysian values; 'Malaysia', for cultural and linguistic fluency; and 'Untukmu', because it is built to serve all Malaysians. Anwar launches Malaysia's first multimodal AI model

(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says Malaysia's digital transformation has taken a major leap today with the launch of Ilmu 1.0, the country's first multimodal AI model. Ilmu – short for Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu – can process and generate text, voice and images, and is tailored to Malay, English and local dialects. Anwar said Ilmu 1.0, which was developed by YTL AI Labs in partnership with Universiti Malaya, aligned with Putrajaya's ambition to become an AI-driven economy. 'Our vision is not just to harness AI to catch up with the rest of the world, but to lead in some areas, protect our values, and give meaning to the principles of equity and justice,' said Anwar at the Asean AI Summit here. He also stressed the need to bridge the digital divide, especially among rural and marginalised communities. A multimodal AI model is an artificial intelligence system designed to understand and process information from multiple types of data – such as text, images, audio, and video – simultaneously. This approach allows multimodal AI models to perform complex tasks more effectively, such as generating image captions, answering questions about a video, or engaging in more natural human-computer interactions. YTL said Ilmu 1.0 performs on par with top global models like GPT-4o and Llama 3.1, and leads in Malay language understanding and real-world task solving. It is hosted on YTL's local AI cloud, ensuring data residency and enterprise-grade security. YTL Power managing director Yeoh Seok Hong said the model reflected Malaysia's cultural and intellectual heritage, calling it a 'national capability' for inclusive innovation. Digital minister Gobind Singh Deo described Ilmu as a 'groundbreaking' initiative that supports Malaysia's push for ethical, locally relevant AI development. YTL AI Labs also launched the Ilmu AI Accelerator Programme with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation, offering RM5 million for startups and developers to build AI tools using Ilmu. Ilmu 1.0 is now available via YTL's cloud platform, with consumer access through ILMUchat rolling out on Malaysia Day on Sept 16. YTL has committed over RM20 billion to build the national AI ecosystem, including green data centres and sovereign models. Early partners include Astro, Media Prima, Ryt Bank, Carsome and Swipey.
