Graduation of a new cohort from the 'Digital Upskilling and Employment Program'
Orange Jordan, in the presence of H.E. Samira Al-Zoubi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, celebrated the graduation of the sixth cohort from the Coding Academy at the Orange Digital Center in Amman. This also marks the second cohort of the 'Digital Upskilling and Employment Program' scholarship. The program is funded by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship under the 'Youth, Technology, and Jobs' Project (YTJ), and is implemented by the Digital Skills Association (Digiskills).
A total of 49 female and male students completed this cohort, following the graduation of the first cohort earlier this year, bringing the total number of program graduates in Amman to 100 youth, of whom 33% are women. For four months and 640 training hours, the participants were equipped with both technical and life skills to enhance their readiness for the job market.
The program has proven its effectiveness, achieving a 100% graduation rate with no dropouts. To date, around 50% of the students have secured employment opportunities, a percentage that is expected to increase in the coming months. Additionally, the graduates supported 25 startups by developing websites for them during their practical training.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, H.E. Samira Al-Zoubi, expressed the Ministry's pride in funding and supporting the 'Digital Upskilling and Employment Program' scholarship under the 'Youth, Technology, and Jobs' Project. She emphasized that this reflects the Ministry's commitment to empowering Jordanian youth with digital skills that enable them to enter the job market with confidence and competence. She added that such programs represent genuine career pathways rather than just training stops, as the Ministry continues to collaborate with its partners to create employment opportunities, support entrepreneurs, and foster innovation that contributes to building a competitive digital economy led by Jordanian youth.
From her side, Amira Qarqash, Digital Education and Skills Development Manager at YTJ, emphasized that investing in youth is an investment in Jordan's future, and that empowering them with digital skills is key to unlocking employment opportunities and driving economic growth. This program stands as a living example of effective collaboration between the public and private sectors and civil society institutions to build a capable generation ready to lead change.
The Chief Corporate Communication & Sustainability Officer at Orange Jordan, Eng. Rana Al-Dababneh expressed her pride in the partnership with the 'Digital Upskilling and Employment Program' scholarship and its achievements, praising the 'Champions of Change' from this cohort and those before them. She added that Orange Jordan, through the Coding Academy at the Orange Digital Center, continues to empower Jordanian youth with the knowledge and skills necessary to build their future. She highlighted that since its launch, the Coding Academy has graduated over 1,000 students, with more than 80% of them joining the job market, confirming the effectiveness of the training model, which integrates technical skills, projects, language, life skills, and practical training.
Concurrently with the graduation ceremony, the second specialized job fair was held to connect graduates with companies and institutions seeking qualified youth talent. This provided real opportunities for them to enter the job market and embodied the integration between training and employment, which is one of the program's key objectives.

Since 2001, Jordan has benefited from a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States, allowing a portion of its exports to enter the U.S. market duty-free. Minister of Industry and Trade Yarub Qudah said that Jordan has been negotiating with the United states over the past few months, obtaining the lowest tariff increase among countries withe free trade agreements or with a trade surplus. The additional US customs duties gave Jordan a competitive advantage, Qudah explained, adding: "When the Kingdom is subject to a 15% duty, while other countries competing with it in the US market are subject to higher rates, this strengthens the competitive advantage of Jordanian products compared to what they had previously." He emphasized that the free trade agreement between Jordan and the United States remains in place, and that it is what provided this preferential advantage. He explained that customs duties imposed on most countries around the world ranged between 15% and 40%, with Jordan receiving the lowest rate. Additionally, the minister emphasized the importance of Jordan obtaining the lowest customs duty rates for industries destined for the US market, noting that this enhances export opportunities to this market and increases the Kingdom's investment attractiveness.

Jordan signs legal status agreement to host Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) office - Jordan News
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan on Wednesday signed a legal status agreement of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), on behalf of the Jordanian government, with the institute's Jordan Country Representative Christophe Assicot. اضافة اعلان The signing allows for hosting an official office of the Institute in the Kingdom, providing sustainable technical and institutional support to the government and relevant national authorities, the ministry said in a statement. It contributes to developing policies and plans that align with environmental and economic priorities and enhances Jordan's ability to access green finance through the preparation of qualified and well-studied projects, it added. The agreement is particularly important in preparing and implementing the National Green Growth Plan and related sectoral action plans, at a time the transition to a green economy is a development priority and strategic necessity within Jordan's modernization path, it said. Hosting the GGGI office is expected to contribute to attracting green investments to vital sectors, such as sustainable transport, renewable energy, and climate-smart agriculture, thus enhancing economic growth in line with the Economic Modernization Vision, the statement pointed out. The agreement also supports coordination efforts between government agencies and building the capacity of national cadres through training and knowledge transfer, in addition to contributing to the implementation of international commitments, most notably the Paris Climate Agreement, it said. Jordan joined the institute in 2014, and cooperation between the two parties has witnessed remarkable development, including drawing up the National Green Growth Plan and Action Plans for the period 2021–2025, including projects for electric public transportation, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and facilitating access to climate finance. The GGGI is an intergovernmental organization established in 2010 and transformed into an international treaty-based organization in 2012 during the Rio+20 Earth Summit. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, the Institute has more than 50 member countries until 2024. It works to assist developing countries and emerging economies in transitioning to a green growth model that balances economic development, environmental sustainability through providing technical support, designing and implementing green projects, mobilizing investments, and building institutional capacity.
