ANDOR Gave ROGUE ONE's Ending the Emotional Context It Always Deserved — GeekTyrant
For years, Rogue One fans have quietly debated a moment that unfolds with a hug.
As Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor kneel on Scarif's beach, watching the shockwave of the Death Star's blast approach, they embrace, no kiss, no confession, just a wordless moment of shared acceptance.
It struck many as an unusual restraint for a Star Wars film. Why not lean into the romance, especially after the emotional weight of their mission?
Now, thanks to Andor , we finally understand why. And it hurts in the best possible way.
The Disney+ series not only explores Cassian's journey from cynic to rebel hero, it digs into his heart. Through his relationship with Bix Caleen, Andor gives us a version of Cassian that isn't emotionally closed-off but deeply tethered to someone who's shaped his life.
Their bond isn't fleeting or casual, it's personal, layered, and built on sacrifice. In fact, Bix is the one who leaves Cassian behind, not out of abandonment, but so he can fully commit to something bigger than both of them.
Bix's final message to Cassian seals the heartbreak. In it, she reaffirms her love and says, 'We'll find each other after the war.' And that's the gut punch because we know he never makes it out of Scarif.
This knowledge reframes the entire Jyn-Cassian dynamic in Rogue One . What some once saw as a missed romantic opportunity now feels like something deeper. Cassian's emotional tether isn't about a budding romance with Jyn, it's about the legacy of a love that asked him to fight for something more.
And that makes the ending of Rogue One even more powerful.
Jyn and Cassian's bond is built through shared trauma, mutual respect, and the raw clarity that comes from knowing you're about to die for a cause. It's not about unspoken romantic tension, it's about two people who found in each other a mirror of their own sacrifices. The beach hug isn't shy or restrained, it's everything they needed to say in a single, silent moment
A kiss would have felt like fan service. The hug felt like truth.
In showing us Cassian's past, Andor enriches Rogue One' s present. It reminds us that not every connection is romantic. Some are forged in fire, sustained by memory, and carried to the end, not with passion, but with purpose.
In doing so, it makes that final hug on Scarif all the more haunting.

ANDOR Creator Tony Gilroy Had to Fight Disney For Season 2 Budget After Being Told "Streaming is Dead" — GeekTyrant
Andor is one of this shows that raised the bar for the Star Wars franchise. But, getting to that second season? That didn't come easy. Tony Gilroy, the creator of Andor and the mind behind Rogue One , opened up at the ATX Television Festival about the uphill battle he faced securing proper funding for Season 2 of the critically acclaimed series. While you'd think Disney would be all-in after Season 1's success, Gilroy revealed a much grimmer outlook from the studio: "I mean, [for] Disney this is $650 million. For 24 episodes, I never took a note. We said 'F*ck the Empire' in the first season, and they said, 'Can you please not do that?' … In season 2, they said, 'Streaming is dead, we don't have the money we had before,' so we fought hard about money, but they never cleaned anything up. That [freedom] comes with responsibilities." 'Streaming is dead,' according to what Gilroy was told during Season 2's production. Kind of a surprise, considering this is Disney we're talking about, owners of Disney+, the home of Andor, The Mandalorian , and every Marvel show. But, this internal sentiment makes a bit more sense when you look at the recent slowdown in Disney's streaming content pipeline. Marvel shows have slowed down. Star Wars shows are fewer and farther between. The emphasis, for now, seems to be shifting, toward theatrical releases. I'm glad to hear that Gilroy 'fought hard' for the budget and to preserve the scope and freedom of the show. It was a massive creative swing that kept its integrity intact despite the studio's shifting priorities. Even with all the struggles behind the scenes, Andor remains the most critically lauded live-action Star Wars project to date. It was an impressive show that hit a nerve with fans, elevating the franchise in a way no other Star Wars project has. As for what's next : The Mandalorian & Grogu is headed to the big screen with Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver. Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling are confirmed to be teaming on the Starfighter movie. Ahsoka 's second season is underway for a 2026 release, and a Darth Maul series is also coming.

Father's Day sale — 15 gift ideas I'd shop from Patagonia, Under Armour and more
The first week of June is officially underway and while there are no major retail holidays this month, there's one big event that'll be here before you know it. I'm talking about Father's Day. Father's Day 2025 falls on June 15th and while that's still roughly two weeks out, now is the best time to do your shopping if you want your gift delivered on time. Additionally, there are plenty of Father's Day sales happening this week with gifts for just about any budget. One of my favorite Father's Day sales right now comes courtesy of Amazon. For a limited time, Amazon has Father's Day gifts on sale from $5. The sale include fun gifts like aprons and polo shirts as well as top sellers like Bluetooth speakers and small kitchen appliances. Not to be outdone, the Home Depot Father's Day sale is also live with discounts on power tools, grills, mowers, and more. (You can shop our top deals in this roundup). To help you pick out the best sales and gifts, I've picked out my top 15 picks from today's biggest sales. Make sure you don't hesitate because June 15th will be here before you know it. Under Armour: deals from $5 @ AmazonIt's not the biggest Under Armour sale I've seen at Amazon, but if you're looking for the lowest prices — this is your sale. Amazon has select Under Amour apparel on sale from $5. It includes men's t-shirts, socks, shorts, and more. Adidas sale: deals from $6 @ AmazonFrom t-shirts to sneakers, Amazon is offering a wide variety of Adidas deals on men's apparel. After discount, deals start as low as $6. It's a huge sale with deals for every budget. Lego sale: deals from $8 @ AmazonThe best Lego deals can usually be found in November and December, so I'm a little shocked that so many Lego sets are on sale now for Father's Day. You can get everything from Disney to Star Wars as well as generic sets. We Made Too Much: picks from $9 @ LululemonLululemon has restocked its "We Made Too Much" section with new running shorts, t-shirts, accessories, and more. Prices start as low as $9. But, you don't have to be exercising to enjoy a pair of shorts with added utility — especially when they're on sale. The sale includes brands such as Ninja, Instant Pot, Samsung, LG and more. The Wonderboom 4 is built for the outdoors with a rugged design and sturdy build. We really liked the speaker in our UE Wonderboom 4 review, especially the surprisingly bassy sound that you might expect from a larger speaker. 16 hours of battery life means you'll be able to get through most of the day on a charge. This Blueair Air Purifier is ideal to handle rooms with a coverage of up to 1,858 sq ft. It includes a HEPASilent, dual filtration technology that can remove at least 99% of airborne particles. I've been using this model for months and also like that it's very quiet and includes an accompanying app, so you can control your settings or check on your filter status from your phone. What's more, with its modern design, it'll suit the decor in any room. The 2025 iPad features a larger 11-inch (2360 x 1640) screen, A16 CPU, 12MP rear/front cameras, USB-C connectivity, and Magic Keyboard Folio ($249) support. The base model features 128GB of storage, which double the capacity of its predecessor. It's available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities. The new Apple Watch boasts a thinner/lighter design, faster charging, and a new FDA-authorized sleep apnea detection feature. Other new key features include 30% more screen area, rounded corners, and a first-ever wide-angle OLED display. In our Apple Watch 10 review we said the optimized watchOS 11 experience and faster charging are worthwhile and make this the Apple Watch to get for most people. These offers include serious savings on everything from power drills to riding mowers.

Teaser Trailer for the DOCTOR WHO Spinoff Series THE WAR BETWEEN THE LAND AND THE SEA — GeekTyrant
Disney+ has released the teaser trailer for the upcoming Dotor Who spinoff series The War Between The Land And The Sea , which is about sea creatures. The new show was teased at the end of the recent season of Doctor Who , and it centers on the emergence of an underwater race of humanoids called Sea Devils. This looks like a wild show, one that I didn't see coming from the Doctor Who franchise. In the story, "When a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing themselves to humanity, an international crisis is triggered. With the entire population at risk, UNIT step into action as the land and sea wage war." The War Between the Land and the Sea is 'a British sci-fi miniseries created by Russell T Davies for BBC One and Disney+. Part of the 'Whoniverse' franchise, the series is set to feature UNIT as they attempt to prevent a war caused by the return of sea creatures. 'UNIT must take action to stop a global war once an ancient species, called the Sea Devils, emerges from the sea revealing itself to humanity.' The series stars Russell Tovey as Barclay and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Salt, along with Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Adrian Lukis, Patrick Baladi, and Vincent Franklin. The War Between The Land And The Sea will be coming to Disney+ later in 2025.
