‘Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake' Already Looks Astonishingly Lovely
'Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake' will be released later this year.
Considering how wondrous the remake of Dragon Quest III was, it's lovely to see how good the remake for Dragon Quest I and II already looks.
If you're wondering why these games have been released out of numerical order, it's because Dragon Quest III is chronologically the first game in the narrative.
Specifically, it cements the legend of Erdrick and how his descendants deal with the resurgence of evil across Alefgard.
That's the other thing, Dragon Quest III was and is a big game. It also featured Alefgard towards the end, although under the cruel rule of Zoma.
Combining the first two Dragon Quest games together also helps deal with the fact that on their own, they would have been far shorter.
Moreover, the end of the Dragon Quest III remake also had a cool sequence introducing a seemingly well-intentioned Hargon before he becomes the evil baddie in Dragon Quest II.
What will be interesting is that the first Dragon Quest had no party system, you were just one guy taking on the hordes of evil on your own.
So, that shift after the Dragon Quest III remake for players new to the series may come as a bit of a shock.

For me though, I am just curious how they will combine the first two games in the series into a coherent whole. I get why it's being done, but I am very interested in the how in terms of its execution.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be released for PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC later this year.

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic is laying off over a dozen staff
Playtonic, the creators of Yooka-Laylee , is laying off some of its staff, the developer and publisher announced on social media. The post doesn't mention how many members of Playtonic will be effected, but does credit the layoffs to the company's struggle with "a period of profound change in how games are created and funded." Based on a LinkedIn post shared by Playtonic brand manager Anni Valkama, the layoffs include staff members who worked in production, various art departments, game design, narrative design and UI/UX design. Playtonic only lists around 50 staff members on LinkedIn, but given the studios growth into a publisher and its upcoming release of Yooka-Replaylee , its possible the actual team is a bit larger. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. While Playtonic likely isn't safe from the problems of funding and selling games that other developers have, hiring up for a new project like Yooka-Replaylee and then laying those new hires off before the game is released is a fairly common practice. There's no way to know if that's the case here without more information, but it's worth stating. Yooka-Laylee was pitched as a spiritual sequel to Banjo-Kazooie and other character-focused action-platformers when it debuted on Kickstarter in 2015, perhaps unsurprising given that Playtonic was founded by former developers from Rare, the creators of Banjo-Kazooie and newer hits like Sea of Thieves . In fact, many of the games Playtonic has published under its "Playtonic Friends" publishing label fall in that Rare sweet spot, whether its the cute action-adventure game Lil Gator Game or the difficult platformer Demon Turf .

NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Saturday, May 31
Connections hints and answers are here. Looking for Friday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: Saturday has arrived but that's no reason to stop playing Connections before you fully wake up and going about your day. So read on for hints and answers. Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles. So, onto the hints and answers: These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. The hints for the Connections groups today are: Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: Connections Surprisingly enough I got Purple Group as my first one today. I was trying to think of what RASPBERRY would connect to with no other food items listed, and then I realized really the only other thing that made sense was blowing one. That led to BUBBLE, KISS and then FUSE pretty quickly. Yellow Group used CAVITY which I know they were trying to trick me with by having PLAQUE in the same puzzle, two dental clues, but there aren't any more. HOLLOW and NOOK seemed like a good pair and then the rest followed from there. Green Group was easy, as once you figure out that PLAQUE isn't for the dentist, the other four answers present themselves quickly. Blue Group I would say was the hardest one this time around. I saw FERMENT and PROOF and thought this may have something to do with alcohol, and it was my last one solved as a default as I just really don't know anything about breadmaking.
