Where do the Late Late Toy Show's €26m donations go?

Times29-06-2025
On the night there's one for everyone in the audience. However, the process for dividing the money raised from The Late Late Toy Show's annual fundraising appeal is far more selective, with some charities doing a lot better than others.
More than €26 million has been raised by the nation's most popular television show over the past five years, and hundreds of charities have benefited from the public's generosity in the weeks before Christmas.
A detailed analysis of the more than 600 grants given to charities shows the big winners are Barnardos, which received €1.7 million, and Children's Health Foundation, which got €1.6 million over the last five years. The third highest amount of grants was given to Traveller support group Exchange House Ireland which received €560,000 of the money raised by The Late Late Toy Show.

Ross demands the truth about the baby in Emmerdale as Charity fights back

In last night's episode of Emmerdale, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) discovered that she's pregnant. It was a happy development Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), as it meant the recent embryo transfer had worked, and Charity was now going to carry their baby for them. The couple remained unaware of Ross Barton's (Michael Parr) reaction when he walked in the pub. A while later, we discovered why he had reason to be shocked at the news. A flashback scene confirmed what happened after a drunk Charity left Vanessa Woodfield's (Michelle Hardwick) house last week. She threw her ex out, and said their kiss was a sign Charity was just being self destructive. Stumbling through the street, Charity found Ross, who was also dealing with relationship woes. The two residents had sex and now Charity is pregnant, and Ross knows that means there's a chance the baby could be his. Back in present day, Charity denied Ross' claims and said there was no chance, as the sex they had was completely meaningless. It was still sex though, but who are we to judge. In complete denial, Charity headed back into the pub and listened as Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) gave a speech and the family celebrated. In tonight's episode, Charity was confronted by Ross again. He still wanted answers, and pointed out that Charity doesn't actually know the complete truth. Charity claimed that she hadn't long been back from the hospital, with a scan confirming the size of the baby and therefore, proof it had formed before she slept with Ross. But he didn't believe her. 'I think he's desperate to find out the answer because it comes with such responsibility, having another child, it's a lot of pressure on him because he's not doing so well with work right now and his living situation isn't ideal as he's always swapping and changing', Michael Parr explained. 'Plus he's just met his brother Lewis. There's a lot going on for him in his head, so he just needs to get to the bottom of this. So he can get a good night's sleep.' A DNA test needs to be conducted to confirm the truth – but will Charity go ahead with it? She was seen researching tests later that day, but what if the test confirms Ross is the father? Will she lie to Sarah, Jacob and Mackenzie? 'There are so many emotions going on which again, puts more of a spotlight onto Charity's awful secret and dilemma', Emma Atkins said. 'The situation was awful to begin with as it began with poor Sarah's position. It's so sad for Sarah as her situation is awful. She so wanted a child but can't physically have one. And in real life there are poor girls in that situation with cervical cancer or who have had to have a hysterectomy. 'So Charity had good intentions initially to help Sarah in her plight to have a child but now it's clashing with the awful situation she's in. The fact Mack is now so upset as he and Charity lost a baby and it was Mack's dream was to have a child with Charity but Charity told him way back when that it wasn't going to happen. She added: 'She wasn't going to go down that route again. But now she has but for someone else. He's rightfully hurt by this although wanting to support her.' 'There are just so many layers to this story. So Charity had thought she had closed the door on having another child and that prospect killed Mackenzie in many ways – she was aware of that so Charity now holds all that guilt. Of how he is feeling. More Trending 'And now this new situation so this all comes back up to haunt her and it's just a sort of whirlpool of awfulness. And what will she do?'. Just how will the next few weeks play out? With rumours circulating that Charity's partner Mackenzie is going to get killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) soon, will he find out Charity's secret about Ross before this happens? Derry Girls star pays tribute to TV show at her own wedding

Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson married DJ Hector Barbour, known as Denis Sulta, in a three-day Celtic-themed celebration in Co Kerry, Ireland. The couple chose Ireland to honour their shared Irish and Scottish heritage, with Barbour and his groomsmen wearing kilts and feathered hats. Jackson wore a custom Annie's Ibiza cream dress, which was later transformed for the evening reception to include tartan and family design elements. Her Derry Girls co-star Jamie-Lee O'Donnell served as a bridesmaid, and Jackson was walked down the aisle to The Cranberries' 'Dreams' - the theme from the TV show. Jackson shared glimpses of the festivities on Instagram, describing the weekend as being "like something from a movie".
