Evan Ferguson to Celtic transfer rules set by ally as Inamura breaks cover and mega O'Riley payday endorsed

A busy summer is ramping up at Celtic Park with Champions League qualifiers around the corner
Struggling Evan Ferguson will demand regular football guaranteed by his next club amid swirls over a move to Celtic.
That is the view of Richard Dunne - who is friend's with the Brighton striker's dad - after he struggled to make an impact on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season.

The Ireland international made just three appearances for the Hammers without scoring.

The prospect netted just one Premier League goal last season and could be shipped out of the AMEX Stadium once again by Fabian Hurzeler.
Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a new striker this summer with the club still looking to replace Kyogo and provide competition for Adam Idah going into the new season.
Oddsmakers Gambling.com make the Scottish Premiership champions the favourites to snap up Ferguson - and insider Dunne has named exactly what the Hoops will have to offer the frontman to seal a move.
Dunne told William Hill Vegas: 'Sometimes in football, you just have moves that don't work out or moments that don't work out.
"I remember when I started off at Everton, I played 10 or 11 games, thought I had done really well, came back the next season and never played a game.
'You have ups and downs throughout your career and it's just about how you react.

"I'm sure Evan will be desperate to get playing next year. He's also a player who can turn back up in pre-season.
"He can score 10 goals in pre-season and become a number nine because he's a very, very good footballer.
"He just needs a run of games, a bit of confidence and a couple of goals.

'There'll be a hundred options for Evan in the summer and it's just sort of making sure he gets the one which is focused on him playing week in, week out.'
One player who looks set to make the switch to Celtic this summer is defender Hayato Inamura.
The 23-year-old, currently at Albirex Niigata, is left-sided and can play both at centre-back and left-back.

And amid heavy speculation that the Hoops could dip into the Japanese market again, Inamura has opened up on his hopes for the future.
He told Nikkan Sports: "I have high expectations of myself. I'm the type of person who is never satisfied.
"I feel like my soccer career is finally beginning. In order to go even bigger from here, I need to work harder than ever and have even higher aspirations.

"In the near future, there will be the World Cup. I definitely want to make the Japanese national team there and wanting to play overseas."
Big moves could be funded by sell-on paydays – with Jeremie Frimpong's move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen already boosting the Parkhead coffers this summer.

Matt O'Riley is also on the cards after Danish international has hinted he is not completely happy at Brighton.
Celtic would be entitled to a chunk of change should an exit from the Seagulls materialise - and legendary manager Fabio Capello has urged Atalanta to revive their interest in the 24-year-old from last summer.
Writing for Gazzetta Dello Sport, he reckons O'Riley could be the perfect replacement for 34-year-old Marten De Roon just a year on from his £25million exit from the Premiership.
"We need a serious alternative to De Roon in midfield, and for me the answer is called Matt O'Riley.
'Already linked to La Dea last year, then arriving at Brighton, he would be perfect for Juric. Quality and determination to spare, a natural leader .'

7 Celtic transfer headlines as summer window explodes with bargain Balikwisha, Greg Taylor successor and £2m trade off

The moves in the market are ramping up at Celtic Park It has been a quiet summer so far for Celtic - but there are set to be players reaching for the pens soon. Brendan Rodgers is set to land Fulham striker Callum Osmand as well as Norwegian winger Benjamin Nygren to follow up on Kieran Tierney 's sensational return to Glasgow's east end. ‌ But it's unlikely to slow down for the Hoops with Champions League qualifiers just around the corner. ‌ The Scottish Premiership champions could bring in some new faces - as well as move some fringe men out of the door. But who is on the agenda? Record Sport takes a look. Callum Osmand The Fulham striker is set to become one of the first names in the building this summer - but former Craven Cottage striker Ross McCormack has raised concerns about the deal. He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard a deal could spell the end of Johnny Kenny's Celtic career. He said: 'If you sign a striker, then, of course, Daizen Maeda would go left wing. 'If you can only get a left winger, and can't get a striker that you want, then Daizen Maeda plays through the middle. ‌ 'What this does, for me, the young boy Osmand, who is coming from Fulham. It probably doesn't look good if you are Johnny Kenny. 'You are a young boy, and they have gone out and signed another sort of young striker. You are wondering what path his career is going to take now. 'If you only play one up front, there is no point in carrying a squad with four out-and-out strikers, let us be honest.' ‌ Luis Palma While fringe men like Kenny could be facing an exit, Luis Palma faces an uncertain future after Olympiacos refused to pick up the £3.5million option-to-buy in his contract. Honduran outlet El Heraldo report the Hoops are desperate to move the winger on this summer and will "drop" the asking price to around £2million with suitors in Greece showing interest. Benjamin Nygren With a price tag reportedly placed on Palma, that could now be spent on Benjamin Nygren - who has just six months remaining on his Nordsjaelland contract. ‌ Reports suggest a £2million fee is on the cards with negotiations ongoing - but sporting director Phil Radley has hinted the club are in no rush to sell. Speaking to Danish outlet TV2 Radley said: 'There is a lot of focus on FC Nordsjælland's big transfers. "We also have a big history with players who are here until the end of their contract, where they have contributed with 100-200 matches. What these players have contributed on the pitch is just as important as the big transfers.' ‌ Michael Ange-Balikwisha Despite chasing a deal for Nygern, Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha is also on the shortlist. And Voetbal 24 report that a bargain could be in the offing amid a fire sale for the Belgian side. It is said that sporting director Marc Overmars "won't hesitate" to cash-in with the club desperate to fill a £18million black hole in their finances. ‌ Greg Taylor Greg Taylor has yet to decide his future with his Celtic contract rapidly approaching an end. The Celtic left-back is weighing up his options ahead of his current Parkhead deal expiring this month - with Rodgers previously stating he is keen to keep the Scotland cap and see him battle it out with Tierney. ‌ But both PAOK and FC Copenhagen are said to be chasing a deal for the soon-to-be free agent. Despite the Danes ability to offer the 27-year-old Champions League football, News Fire report PAOK are "confident" Taylor will follow Jonjoe Kenny and agree a contract with the club. Keita Kosugi Djurgarden wonderkid Keita Kosugi has been tipped as a potential successor should Taylor depart. The 19-year-old left-back has opened up on his targets for the future away from the Swedish side. ‌ But Djurgården's sporting director Bosse Andersson has hinted a bumper price tag could be placed on the rising star. He told Sportbladet: 'There has been quite a lot of interest in Keita Kosugi. Many have been here and looked around. Good Japanese players are highly valued." Marco Tilio He has spent most of his Celtic career away from the club on loan at Melbourne City, and the club are keen to extend that deal beyond the summer. Melbourne City's director of football Michael Petrillo has revealed discussions are ongoing with the Hoops. 'We're still negotiating whether he stays another year or goes to Europe. We hope he stays another year.'

Owen Farrell not focused on ‘hypothetical' Lions talk after rejoining Saracens

The fly-half, who announced he was stepping away from Test rugby with England following the 2023 World Cup citing a toll on his mental health, said he is 'not retired' from international duty and has kept in contact with coach Steve Borthwick during his time in France. He was not named in the 38-man Lions squad picked last month by his dad Andy despite there being no rules prohibiting his selection while he was based outside of England, but he has left open the possibility of answering the call should injuries dictate. Asked what his stance would be on a possible call-up, he said: 'It's not changed I don't think. 'There's nothing for me to do other than concentrate on getting myself back (at Saracens) and getting myself in the best place I possibly can do. Everting else is hypothetical.' Farrell Sr had previously left the door open to his son joining up with the Lions in Australia, though he was not among the additional players recruited for a training camp in Portugal last week. Owen Farrell last represented the Lions on the 2021 tour to South Africa (Steve Haag/PA) He will however be in attendance when the team play Argentina in Dublin on Friday as he makes his debut as a TV pundit during Sky Sports' coverage of the game. The Saracens returnee, who has taken part in three previous Lions tours, was asked whether it was reasonable to assume he would be in the running for a late call-up given his experience. 'I'm not thinking like that,' he said. 'I think if you do start thinking like that you can tie yourself in knots. All that I can do is focus on what I've got going on and get myself in the best place I can be.' Farrell has not played since suffering a head injury during Racing's defeat to Lyon in last month's Challenge Cup semi-final, while a groin problem previously caused him to miss significant periods of what has turned to be his only season in France. Farrell won the Premiership six times during his first spell with Saracens (Joe Giddens/PA) The return to Saracens means he becomes immediately available for selection for Borthwick's England. 'We've kept in touch with Steve,' he said. 'He came out to Racing earlier in the season. The main thing is getting myself in a good place, getting myself back here, back in the Premiership to Saracens and loving what I'm doing. I really feel like I can do that here. That's the starting point. 'I keep talking about enjoying myself, I keep talking about being happy, but I think that's the way that I get more out of it now. That's what opens up a lot more opportunity. If I get to that and I'm loving what I'm doing then we'll see. 'I'm not retired, no.'

Revealed: How Premier League fixtures are decided including THREE golden rules

It feels like the season only finished two minutes ago, but we will already be able to start building up to the next one on Wednesday morning, when the new fixtures are released. For the first time in eight years Premier League fans will see their side take on Sunderland, after the Black Cats joined Burnley and Leeds in earning promotion back to the top-flight. Liverpool will also be eagerly eyeing up their own fixture list, working out where the crunch games will come up in their bid to retain the Premier League title, with Arsenal and Man City likely hell bent on stopping Arne Slot's side. It may seem like the lists come out a little early, however Premier League officials have revealed that the process actually takes around six months, given the amount of data that goes into compiling the fixtures. The task, carried out by a French company, Atos, who are based near Paris, sees data entered into the system, such as the dates of international windows and European club games, before coming up with the list. That job becomes even harder with nine Premier League sides set to play in European competitions next term. Tottenham join Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle in the Champions League, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace will play in the Europa League, while Nottingham Forest enter the Conference League play-offs. That's sort of to be expected, but there are also other factors such as proximity between clubs on certain days and policing capacity to take into consideration, to ensure resources are not so thinly spread. In this sense, larger metropolitan areas with more than one club become a problem, such as Manchester, Liverpool and London. With the former two northern cities, Man City and Man United and Liverpool and Everton are not permitted to play on the same day at home, while London's greater resources - and number of teams - mean that is not such an issue therein. However there are three golden rules which cannot be broken when it comes to producing the fixture list. Firstly, teams must play three home games and two away games, or vice versa, in a five-game span; teams cannot have a four and one situation either way. Similarly, no side is allowed to begin or end the season with two home or two away matches. And lastly, teams aren't allowed to play home or away twice within the Christmas period, during Boxing Day and New Year's Day. A list is then produced based on all these mitigating factors, after teams have been paired up in a grid to determine home or away status, which is reviewed manually by Atos and officials from both the Premier League and the English Football League. After all that, if any errors still exist, then the system is repeated, with a brand new set of games being produced, and so on until a list is approved and officially rubber-stamped, to be announced in late June. Wednesday, June 18 will see the games for next campaign released, and you can follow all the action as it unfolds LIVE with Mail Sport.
