1st-degree murder charges laid following fatal hit and run on Siksika Nation
Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said investigators have also recovered the vehicle suspected to have been involved.
The crash happened on Saturday around 9:30 p.m. on the Siksika Nation, about an hour east of Calgary.
The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old Trayton Runningbird and 45-year-old Clifton Saddleback.

A 45-year-old woman is still in hospital in critical condition.
The RCMP said a group of five people were walking when they were struck and the driver and vehicle fled the scene.
Two other people in the group were not hurt.

Adolphus Weaselchild, whom RCMP identified as a Siksika Nation resident, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
A justice of the peace has ordered Weaselchild to be kept in custody until his next court appearance.

In 2022, a jury found him not guilty of second-degree murder but guilty of the lesser offence of manslaughter. He was sentenced to eight years behind bars. Four arrested following ‘dangerous incidents involving stolen vehicles' in Moncton area
Three teens and a 20-year-old man have been arrested following 'dangerous incidents involving stolen vehicles' in the Moncton area. RCMP officers responded to a report late Tuesday afternoon that two vehicles located in a Salisbury business parking lot may have been stolen. 'As police approached with their emergency equipment activated, both vehicles fled at a high rate of speed towards the Homestead Road. Shortly after, one of the vehicles was disabled on Route 126,' said Cpl. Marc Belliveau, in a news release from the New Brunswick RCMP. Police say the driver, a 20-year-old Moncton man, and the passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Riverside-Albert, were arrested. The second vehicle continued fleeing but was intercepted on Catamount Road in Indian Mountain, according to the RCMP. The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Moncton, and the passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Moncton, were arrested. The 16-year-old girl from Riverside-Albert was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The two Moncton teens and the 20-year-old man all appeared in Moncton provincial court Wednesday. Nathaniel Beatty-Gratto, 20, was charged with: possession of property obtained by crime dangerous operation of a motor vehicle flight from a peace officer resisting a peace officer failure to comply with a probation order He was released from custody and is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 5. The 17-year-old boy was charged with: possession of property obtained by crime dangerous operation of a motor vehicle flight from police possession of weapons contrary to order failure to comply with conditions of a previous release order He was released from custody and is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 6. London man attacks pedestrian, steals dog: police
A London man has been arrested after attacking a person out for a walk with their dog and stealing the furry friend. The London Police Service responded to a robbery in the south end of the city over the weekend. Shortly before 10:40 p.m. on July 27, police say a man walking his dog in the area of Base Line Road West and Cotswold Gate was approached by an unknown male. Police say the suspect brandished a pair of pliers and struck the victim several times before taking the dog and fleeing on foot. A citizen in the area called 911 and described the suspect to police. Story continues below advertisement Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect a short distance away without the dog. The victim sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedic services. The dog was later found at the suspect's home and was reunited with the victim. As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old London man has been charged with one count of robbery. The accused appeared in court on Wednesday.
