Football fever takes over as 1,300 join AIA's Score with Spurs Camp
SCORE with Spurs Camp, the highly anticipated football coaching programme by AIA Malaysia in collaboration with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, made an exhilarating return this year – bringing together over 1,300 aspiring junior and adult participants for a three-day football experience at the Eco Ardence Setia Alam Football Arena.
Held from 30 May to 1 June 2025, the camp was led by Tottenham Hotspur International Development coaches Lily Jervis and Sabrina Dias, alongside 24 experienced local coaches.
The camp was divided into two daily sessions: mornings were dedicated to the Junior Camp which welcomed more than 700 children aged 7-13, while evenings catered to the Adult Camp, which saw a turn-up of nearly 650 participants. This format ensured participants received tailored, age-appropriate training and guidance to maximise their experience.
Each day kicked off with dynamic warm-up activities that were also open to participants' families and friends, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere where they could join in the excitement. Beyond honing basic football skills like dribbling, passing and shooting, the training sessions also featured tactical drills and friendly matches.
These sessions were thoughtfully structured to build confidence, encourage progression and reinforce key values such as teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship – all while ensuring the experience remained fun and engaging for participants of all ages and skill levels.
Launched in 2021 as a virtual football coaching programme during the pandemic with just 160 participants, Score with Spurs has steadily grown into a meaningful avenue for Malaysians to stay healthy and active in a fun and engaging way. In 2022, the programme transitioned to on-ground sessions with the introduction of the Adult and Junior Camps, which have since expanded to five to six sessions annually.
By making world-class football coaching more accessible to Malaysians, Score with Spurs continues to inspire and promote healthier lifestyles, nurture football talents from the grassroot level, and empower communities to live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

'We will discuss about our plans against the Chinese pair, have a good rest and eat well before the match,' said Thinaah. She, however, is happy that their strategy worked to the tee against the Japanese pair yesterday. 'The Japanese pair were in good form coming here after reaching the Singapore Open final but we were more focused on our strategy against them. It worked.' Pearly attributed their calm approach for their quite consistent form in the last four weeks. They had won the Thailand Open, reached the Malaysian Masters semi-finals before losing in the last eight of Singapore Open last week. 'We are quite happy with our form and hope to keep the momentum going. In the past weeks, we have learnt to be calm and I think, that's the key,' added Pearly.

Istora Senayan feels like home for Wei Chong-Kai Wun
KUALA LUMPUR: Istora Senayan is fast becoming a second home for men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, who are now just one win away from reaching their third consecutive final at the famed Jakarta venue. The world No. 7 were runners-up at the Super 1000 event last year and lifted the Super 500 Indonesia Masters title at the same venue in January. On Friday, Wei Chong-Kai Wun produced a commanding performance to stun world No. 22 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty 21-19, 21-16 in just 43 minutes — their first win over the Indian pair in five meetings. "We focused on our game plan even though they were faster and stronger," said Wei Chong. "Because of the draught, we kept our returns flat and avoided lifting the shuttle too much — that helped us control the match." Kai Wun added: "It feels great to finally beat them. It gives us a real confidence boost for the semi-finals. So far, everything is going well." Next up, Wei Chong-Kai Wun will seek revenge against Indonesia's world No. 8 Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, who edged world No. 1 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin in the other quarter-final. Indonesia's world No. 8 Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani were trailing 19-17 in the deciding game, but mounted a strong comeback to stun the top-ranked Malaysians 21-19, 9-21, 21-19 in Jakarta. Victory would have set up an all-Malaysian semi-final against world No. 7 Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, who had earlier ousted India's world No. 22 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty 21-19, 21-16.
