Iranian Majles Member Mohammad-Qasim Osmani: Iran Must Build Nuclear Weapons For Deterrence Purposes; Nuclear Technology Will Place Iran On Equal Footing In Negotiations
On April 7, 2025, Iranian Majles member Mohammad-Qasim Osmani posted a speech on his Instagram account in which he stated that "global arrogance" leaves Iran with no option but military confrontation. He argued that Iran must pursue a "rapid and relentless advance" toward developing nuclear weapons as a deterrent. Osmani claimed that possessing nuclear capabilities would place Iran on equal footing in future negotiations.
Mohammad-Qasim Osmani: "Avoiding a military confrontation is very sound and logical, but the outrageous demands of Global Arrogance are such that they leave us no other way than this path. So unless we hold the tools to deal with their outrageous force and demands, the only way is a rapid and relentless advance towards building nuclear weapons as a means of deterrence.
"Due to the high price that nuclear technology has levied on the country, it should be useful in every field, especially in security, because today, nuclear technology should place us on equal footing in the negotiations."

Security Council convenes as Iran-Israel conflict escalates
Shafaq News/ On Friday, the United Nations Security Council convened an emergency session at Iran's request, following Israeli airstrikes that struck multiple locations inside Iranian territory. Earlier today, Iran's state media reported that its permanent mission to the United Nations had submitted an urgent letter to the Council, calling for condemnation of the Israeli attacks and requesting an immediate session. The strikes began at dawn, as Israel launched what it described as Rising Lion Operation, targeting a series of military and nuclear facilities across Iran. Sites hit included Natanz, Fordow, Tehran, Hamedan, and East Azerbaijan province. Iranian media confirmed the deaths of several senior commanders from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with nuclear scientists and civilians. The large-scale assault also triggered a wave of international reactions, ranging from strong condemnation to calls for restraint and the revival of diplomatic engagement. As regional tensions escalated, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned that Israel would face 'severe punishment' in response. Shortly afterward, Iran's official news agency confirmed the launch of Tehran's counterstrike, which has been designated The Severe Punishment. According to the IRGC, three waves of missiles—each comprising roughly 100 rockets—have so far been fired toward multiple Israeli military installations and airbases.

Israeli Media: The Israeli Air Force launched a new strike in Tehran
Shafaq News/ The Israeli Air Force launched a new strike on Tehran, Israeli media reported on Friday. Footage circulating on social media appeared to show Iranian air defenses engaging incoming Israeli aircraft over the capital, with anti-aircraft fire lighting up the night sky. The strike came shortly after Iran launched a large-scale attack involving hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones aimed at Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the operation and identified it as Operation Truthful Promise 3. Iran's offensive was framed as a direct response to Operation Rising Lion, an Israeli campaign that targeted key military and nuclear sites across the country. Strikes hit locations in Natanz, Fordow, Tehran, Hamedan, and East Azerbaijan province. Iranian media later confirmed that several senior IRGC commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians were killed during the Israeli offensive.

IRGC confirms "Truthful Promise 3" strikes on Israel
Shafaq News/ On Friday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the launch of hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel in a sweeping retaliatory campaign, codenamed Operation Truthful Promise 3. In a statement, the IRGC's public relations department reported that units from its Aerospace Force deployed a mix of precision-guided ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial systems targeting what it described as 'the military bases and airfields from which the criminal aggression on Iran was launched.' The operation, the statement continued, also extended to Israeli military-industrial facilities believed to be involved in the production of missiles and other weapons. Field reports, satellite imagery, and intelligence cited by the IRGC indicated that 'dozens of ballistic missiles successfully struck strategic targets.' The IRGC noted that 'the enemy failed to confront the waves of missile strikes,' suggesting that Iranian projectiles had penetrated several layers of Israeli air defenses, including those supported by the United States. The launch came in response to Israel's Operation Rising Lion, which targeted military and nuclear sites across Iran. Strikes hit locations in Natanz, Fordow, Tehran, Hamedan, and East Azerbaijan province. Iranian media later confirmed the deaths of several senior IRGC commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians during the Israeli offensive.
