New BBC show Walking with Dinosaurs has ‘character-led stories based on genuine evidence'

Make no bones about it: dinosaurs are a perennial big deal.
As passionate palaeontologist Dr Nizar Ibrahim puts it: 'When museums are talking about bringing in exhibitions, they say the two themes that always work are mummies and dinosaurs!'
And dinosaurs' outsize appeal extends to television. In 1999, the BBC unleashed what it calls 'one of [its] most beloved factual shows', Walking with Dinosaurs.
Now, after a surprisingly long interlude, comes Walking with Dinosaurs: Legends Unearthed, a six-part continuation and a celebration of animals that were always much more than the sum of their movie counterparts.

For this is a series that isn't afraid to show the cuddly side of the 'terrible lizards' – even, perhaps, with a touch of unashamed anthropomorphism, giving the beasts' names and imagined family lives.

4 times Pat McGrath's creative make-up wowed on the runway

Pat McGrath's visionary artistry has redefined beauty on the runway over the years, from the striking blue body paint for Schiaparelli's autumn/winter 2023 haute couture show to the bold kabuki-inspired faces at Louis Vuitton's autumn/winter 2025. In between, there was also the internet-exploding doll-like, glass skin finish for the Maison Margiela spring/summer 2024 runway, while back in 2019, McGrath made up models with shimmering silver faces and bold red lips at Valentino's haute couture show, a look that has since become legendary. Want your own piece of Downton Abbey? Props and costumes go up for sale at Bonhams

With British period drama Downton Abbey drawing to a close in September, some fans took solace by getting close to memorable props and costumes from the much-loved British saga as they went on sale on August 18. Advertisement Everyone has their favourite piece, including Charlie Thomas of London's Bonhams auction house, which is holding the sale. He had no hesitation in highlighting the 'bell wall', the servant's call system that appears from the first series to the last, as his favourite item. 'Just to prove it's a working bell, look at that – I expect someone's going to deliver tea in a minute,' he joked while testing out the item, which is valued between £6,000 (US$8,100) and £8,000. Beauty legend Pat McGrath on developing Louis Vuitton's first make-up range

When Louis Vuitton announced the launch of its first make-up range earlier this year, it came as little surprise that the mastermind behind it would be Pat McGrath. The British make-up artist has created some of the most striking beauty looks of the last three decades and has been collaborating with the French house for more than 20 years. Her work for brands ranging from Maison Margiela and Schiaparelli to Miu Miu, as well as for Louis Vuitton, is just as influential as the clothes walking those runways. Advertisement McGrath – who 10 years ago established her own make-up line, Pat McGrath Labs – has a long history with Nicolas Ghesquière, women's artistic director of Louis Vuitton, having created the make-up for his shows since he presented his first collection in 2014. Photo: Handout Their collaboration runs the gamut from barely there nudes to bold colours inspired by kabuki theatre, McGrath shared at a hush-hush preview of her La Beauté Louis Vuitton collection during the haute couture shows in July in Paris. 'It's a relationship built on friendship, and we love to create characters together,' says McGrath. 'With the line, I had complete freedom to do whatever I wanted, and that was a lot of fun. But again, as you can see from the shows – whether we're doing dramatic, pointed gothic lips or the David Bowie faces of last season, and then in Avignon, that nod to medieval but with a bit of glam rock – it's always a lot of fun.' Translating those adventurous looks into products that would appeal to a broad range of audiences was paramount to McGrath, who chose two categories: lips and eyes. As she explained in Paris and in a follow-up video interview, this is not just any make-up launch. La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a whole universe that also highlights the house's heritage as a trunk maker and a company steeped in travel. Louis Vuitton has created leather goods and accessories for the products in its first make-up range.
