Warm and muggy across South Florida with scattered early afternoon storms
The day got off to a warm and muggy start, with temperatures in the low 80s and feels-like temperatures in the low 90s.
In the afternoon, highs will soar to the low 90s and it will feel like the triple digits when the humidity is factored in. Some scattered storms will be possible around midday into the early afternoon. Later in the day, they will be steered inland and toward the West Coast.
There is a low risk of rip currents along the Atlantic beaches and the UV index is extreme. There are no alerts or advisories for boaters along the Atlantic and Florida Keys waters.
On Thursday, the chance of rain is lower with only a few showers possible. Highs will be seasonably hot in the low 90s and it will feel like the 100s.
Friday will be even drier with only isolated showers possible. Lows will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. With less rain expected, it will be hotter. The NEXT Weather team is forecasting a high of 93 degrees.
Looking ahead to what's next for the upcoming weekend, it will stay hot and steamy with the potential for spotty showers. The chance of rain is 20% on Saturday and 30% on Sunday.

Tropical Storm Erin is expected to gradually strengthen Aug. 13 and could become a hurricane by late on Aug. 14, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center. Erin is moving fast across the Atlantic, at 23 mph. It's forecast not only to become the Atlantic season's first hurricane, but also a major hurricane. The average date for the first hurricane is Aug. 11, and the first major hurricane typically does not occur until Sept. 1, according to AccuWeather. Where is Tropical Storm Erin? The scenarios, according to AccuWeather are: "If the Bermuda High remains fairly round or yields to the approaching cool front and jet stream dip, Erin is likely to turn to the north before reaching the U.S. "If the Bermuda High extends well to the west, it could block the potential major hurricane's northward path. The result would be a potential track very close to or onshore in the U.S., probably somewhere from the Carolinas north." It's still early to tell yet what impacts Tropical Storm Erin could have on Florida or the United States, although forecasters said rough surf and dangerous rip currents are possible along the east coast as Erin approaches. After a stormy Wednesday across southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, where tornado watches and warnings were issued, the risk of severe weather moves eastward Thursday. Manitoba and northwestern Ontario are next in line, with conditions expected to support significant thunderstorm development as energy builds throughout the afternoon. Thursday: High thunderstorm energy over southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario A large low pressure system is tracking eastward, creating a setup for thunderstorms in southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario Thursday afternoon. High thunderstorm energy is forecast to build through the day, with a strengthening cold front expected to trigger potentially severe storms by late afternoon and evening. Storm development may stay east of Winnipeg, possibly leaving the city dry, while areas near the Manitoba–northwestern Ontario border will see the highest storm potential. While tornado potential remains uncertain, there is a slight risk of one or two tornadoes developing.
