Jake Paul reveals exactly how much weight he must lose ahead of next fight

Daily Mirror5 days ago

The 'Problem Child' makes his return to boxing next week - and with his fight against Cesar Chavez Jr looming - the American has revealed how much weight he has to lose
Jake Paul has revealed he needs to lose 13lbs as his upcoming showdown with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr looms.
The two stars are expected to go head-to-head in a cruiserweight contest on June 27 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Paul has not fought since defeating former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson back in November. Despite failing to get the knockout, the young American cruised to a victory on points.

Ahead of the clash with Tyson, the 'Problem Child' tipped the scales at a career-high 227lbs. However, he has since moved back down to cruiserweight for his upcoming showdown with the former WBC middleweight champion. With just days to go until the clash, Paul is entering the final stages of his training camp.

On Sunday, the 28-year-old took to social media, posting a picture of his breakfast - which included one piece of toast and some scrambled eggs. With a few shocked by the light meal, Paul explained that the small portions was prepared with weight cutting in mind.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer revealed he needs to lose 13lbs before June 27 to ensure his fight with the Mexican goes ahead. 'Cutting weight breakfast,' Paul wrote alongside a crying laughing emoji on his Instagram story. He added: '13 days out. 13 more lbs.'
While many are expecting a tough night at the office for Paul, boxing legend Shawn Porter has confidently predicted that the 28-year-old will get the victory later this month. Speaking on The Porter Way Podcast, he said. 'I got Jake Paul by KO.' Porter then explained how previously seeing Chavez Jr in the gym helped him come to that conclusion.
'He doesn't have a gas tank. That means you're not working and training out of the gym. I saw the in gym stuff and you scratch your head like 'that was it for the day?' He said. 'One day he came into the gym he shadow boxed, I don't know if he made it a round on the bag, then he packed up and left … I've seen some short stuff. I don't want to disrespect but it will make you scratch your head. The other fighters were laughing like 'that was it? Why did he show up?''
With just over a week to go until the showdown, Paul is adamant that he will shock the world on fight night. "I'm gonna shock the world once again and prove how good I am, how powerful I am," the 28-year-old said at the launch press conference. "This is his toughest fight to date, and I'm going to embarrass him and make him quit like he always does."
He added: "I don't want any excuses, and when I beat this man all the boxing media, like you guys always do, are going to discredit it. But I'm gonna expose him and I'm gonna embarrass him. He's the embarrassment of Mexico. Mexico doesn't claim him.
"He's going to get exposed on June 28, and then the boxing media will have all these excuses but I don't want them to be having these excuses. They say he's training hard, they say this is the most focused he's ever been, good. As he should be, because people don't realise how good I actually am, and when he feels those first few punches he's going to want to quit and go back to his stool."

Surprise Scottie Scheffler reveal on PGA Tour rival he's looked up to from youth

World No.1 salutues the graft and skill of one of his closest challengers Impressed Scottie Scheffler has revealed he looked up to Justin Thomas as an ascending pro and revels in his rival's desire. The American duo are locked at the top of the Travelers Championship at the halfway stage alongside England's Tommy Fleetwood. ‌ Scheffler is currently the king of the game with his World No.1 status underlined by a string of stunning recent shows including a third Major win at the PGA Championship. ‌ Thomas missed the Quail Hollow and also at last week's US Open, but his desire to keep working and fighting have never been lost on his Ryder Cup colleague. Scheffler said: 'Justin is a guy that I looked up to from a young age. He was a really talented junior player, talented amateur player. He had a lot early success out here on Tour. 'Justin is an extremely hard worker. I think Justin is more of a practicer than I am. I like to play a lot when I practice. With Justin, he is very, very disciplined in the way he approaches things and that's why you've seen him have success for so many years out here. He sticks to his process. 'He doesn't let things kind of get to him and I think a lot of that goes back to how hard he prepares to come out here and play. He's very, I would say, professional in the way he approaches things.' Thomas' ability to shot-make were evident during his Friday 64 which took him to the summit of the standings along with Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood. ‌ The two-times Masters champ was also in control and reckons robotic golf is off the menu when the going gets tough. Scheffler said: 'I would use robotic as maybe the word. It's not as robotic. I think when you're playing under no conditions or very light winds, I think you can hit a similar flight on every single shot and it would be fine. "On days like today [Friday] you have to work the ball both ways. You have to hit low shots, hit high shots. You're always playing a different type of shot, especially in conditions like this. 'You've just got to control the ball, so it's controlling spin and trajectory. A lot of times you're not hitting very many full shots because when you hit a full shot the ball will spin more and then you really have to get the wind perfect each time. "And if you're hitting a little bit more chippy shots and working the ball, you can kind of manage some of those gusts. I think having realistic expectations of what we need to do. You get a gust into the wind and all of a sudden the ball is not on the green. "So just little stuff like that. You can't get every one correct. You just do your best to manage your way around the golf course.'

Jake Paul claims Canelo Alvarez has medical condition only he has spotted

The 'Problem Child' and Alvarez have traded barbs in recent months after their rumoured fight was scrapped at the eleventh hour after the Mexican penned a deal with Riyadh Season Jake Paul stunned fans after claiming long-time rival Canelo Alvarez has a medical condition that has never been mentioned before. The 'Problem Child' - who made his professional boxing debut back in 2020 - is set to return to the ring next weekend against former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr - a former opponent of Alvarez. Paul has not fought since defeating boxing icon Mike Tyson last November. Despite failing to get the knockout, the 28-year-old scored a dominant decision victory. ‌ With Paul in the final stages of preparations for his showdown with Chavez Jr, the American took a brief moment to offer his verdict after Alvarez's super-fight with Terence Crawford was made official. The blockbuster clash with take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 13. ‌ Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh and UFC president Dana White will promote the historic card. It was also confirmed that Netflix will be the official global broadcast partner. Rather discussing the bout, Paul was a little more interested in the fight poster and appeared to take a slight swipe at 'Saul.' Taking to X - formerly known as Twitter - the 28-year-old posted a close-up image of Canelo's feet from the fight poster, captioning the post: 'Told you he's a p**a. P**aaaaaaaa.' Paul has since deleted the post - but his comments appear to imply that the American believes the super-middleweight king suffers from plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes pain on the bottom of your foot, around your heel and arch. Symptoms of the condition include pain and stiffness in the heel and arch of the foot, often worse in the morning or after periods of rest, pain that gradually improves with activity but worsens with prolonged standing or walking or stiffness in the foot, especially upon waking or after sitting for a while. People who suffer from plantar fasciitis are advised to get plenty of rest and reduce activities that aggravate the pain, apply ice packs to the affected area to reduce inflammation and regular stretching of the calf muscles and plantar fascia can help relieve symptoms. Paul and Alvarez have traded barbs over the last few months. The 'Problem Child' slammed the Mexican after the four-weight world champion signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season instead of facing the YouTuber. The two parties had been in talks to fight in May before the deal collapsed. Paul was quick to hit out at Alvarez, claiming that a contract for the clash was signed by the two parties. "We had a signed contract to fight," Paul said in a video posted on social media. "Here you can see Canelo's signature and my signature to the right. Claiming he's not fighting YouTubers. Bulls***... Claiming he's fighting real fighters, but he's fighting [Terence] Crawford, a 135-pound fighter, and running from a real fighter like David Benavidez. You b****." He added: "The truth is, you can be bought. You're a money-hungry squirrel chasing your next nut. The truth is, these sports-washing, shady characters are paying you hundreds of millions of dollars to stop our fight from happening because they couldn't fathom the fact that they can't create a bigger fight than me and you."
