Popular K-pop idol reveals losing 40 kgs in five months through intense diet and weight loss injection

Super Junior's Shindong recently appeared on KBS2's talk show Problem Child in House alongside fellow band member Kyuhyun to mark the group's 20th anniversary. During the chat, Shindong opened up about his dramatic weight loss and unintentionally sparked a debate online. His mention of popular weight loss drugs left many wondering if Western influence has fully taken over South Korea. While the idol admitted the injections didn't really work for him and led to the dreaded 'yo-yo effect,' he revealed it was actually intense dieting that did the trick. He even detailed what his plate looked like on a regular day.
'I went from 116 kg to 79 kg,' Shindong said, revealing he lost nearly 40 kg in just five months. He added that dieting helped him more than exercise ever did. When asked what diet he followed, the singer explained he mostly ate ssambap—small rice balls made of brown rice, a pinch of stir-fried anchovies, and a bit of gochujang (red chilli paste), all wrapped in a leaf. According to the K-pop star, he ate at least six of those a day, and it became his go-to meal.

He also admitted to trying the weight-loss injection Wegovy, the same one originally meant for diabetic patients, but recently in the spotlight thanks to Elon Musk and a few Hollywood celebs being blamed for popularising it in the U.S. However, Shindong joked that the shots didn't work on him at all, even at a high dose. 'The doctor told me I should feel full because it slows digestion,' he said. 'But later, he added, 'Shindong, you've beaten Wegovy!'' Despite all his efforts, Shindong admitted to facing the yo-yo effect—gaining some of the weight back after the extreme diet. Experts have long warned that drastic routines like this can often lead to rebound weight gain. During the chat, he also shared how he once spent over 14 million won (around $12,000 USD) on just one food delivery app, and that's only one out of the three he regularly uses.

While most South Korean celebs are no strangers to extreme diets, whether it's IU's one-apple-a-day routine, Ji Chang Wook's full-body transformation, Park Min Young's prep for Marry My Husband, or Lee Min Ki's physical overhaul, weight-loss injections like Wegovy and Ozempic are now gaining popularity outside of medical use. These GLP-1 drugs slow down how fast the stomach empties, resulting in the lost of appetite.. But there's still a lot of debate around them, especially when used by people who aren't clinically obese, not to mention the side effects, which remain a concern.

BTS' Jungkook and aespa's Winter dating rumours spark online ridicule: 'Please take the delusional shipping lenses off'

A recent post on the South Korean forum 'Nate Pann' claiming to present 'evidence' of BTS' Jungkook and aespa's Winter dating has ignited all over the area, mocking across the K-pop community. While dating rumours are common in the industry, this particular thread has been called out for its flimsy logic and exaggerated conclusions. The 'evidence' that sparked the debate As reported by Koreaboo, the original post attempted to link Jungkook and Winter through a series of coincidences starting with both the idols allegedly wearing similar in-ear monitors, them being seen sporting the same hat, them reportedly frequenting the same gym, and some fans pointing to matching tattoos and plush toys. However, netizens quickly debunked each claim. One user noted that the in-ear company referenced is the only one in Korea, used by over 3,000 idols, and that Jungkook and Winter even use different models. Regarding the hat, it was identified as a 2021 sold-out series worn by many celebrities, with Winter only using it once for a photoshoot. Netizens react: 'This Is Delusional.' The backlash was swift and sharp. Comments on the forum and social media included: 'Are they the only two celebrities with tattoos?' 'Jungkook went to the gym because he followed a member's older brother there. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en Nogales (ver precio) Verisure Alarmas Más información Undo Loads of celebrities go to that gym.' 'Even during military leave, Jungkook gets stalked by sasaengs. If there was even one real connection, a pic would've leaked ages ago.' Some users accused the original poster of being a 'Winter anti' and criticised the repeated attempts to link the two idols without credible proof. Others pointed out that Jungkook attending aespa's concert alongside many other celebrities was not unusual and certainly not romantic evidence. Privacy and fan culture The incident has reignited conversations about idol privacy, fan shipping culture, and the dangers of speculative narratives. Both Jungkook and Winter are known to be intensely private, and fans expressed concern over the obsessive behaviour that often surrounds such rumours. As one netizen put it, 'Seriously, can we all just live our own lives? Why do you freak out so much when international fans start shipping them?'

Too Yumm! Signs Ananya Panday as the Face of K-Bomb, Launches QR-Led Noodle Campaign That's Stirring Buzz

After a successful entry into the instant noodles category last year through K-Bomb, Too Yumm! quickly became a favourite among Korean noodle lovers. Taking a bold step to solidify its position in the premium noodles segment, the brand has now joined hands with youth icon Ananya Panday to further elevate its appeal. 'Ananya's vibrant personality and strong youth connect fit perfectly with Too Yumm! K-Bomb's identity as a fun & tasty noodles brand. Her influence and relatability make her an ideal fit to drive brand appeal to modern, mindful consumers' said Yogesh Tewari, Chief Marketing Officer, Too Yumm! Simultaneously, its popular K-Bomb range along with the already hit flavours like Hot n Spicy & Tom Yum has expanded with three exciting new flavours Kimchi, Korean Chicken & Sichuan Pepper Corn. It has also launched an innovative OTG (On-The-Go) cup noodles pack, making the brand even more accessible and convenient for a wider, on-the-move audience. The association kicks off with the high-energy content series 'Slurp n Spill', a rapid-fire style podcast where Ananya brings her signature sass, spontaneity, and snack obsession to the forefront. The campaign positions K-Bomb as the go-to snack for India's youth – fiery, flavourful, and unapologetically bold. The campaign is designed to cut through ad fatigue with snackable, high-entertainment value content that resonates with Gen Z's appetite for experiences over advertisements. The campaign rollout also included high-impact QR code activations across key metros - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata - that drive on-ground intrigue and direct consumers to engaging digital content. Eye-catching OOH installations with first of a kind Manga inspired designs added to the momentum, 'Consumers today are increasingly averse to traditional advertising. To truly connect with them, brands need to offer something of value—whether it's humor, entertainment, or insight. A celebrity podcast delivers on all fronts, seamlessly blending storytelling and star power. Our goal isn't just for consumers to see our ad—it's for them to enjoy the experience.' said Yogesh Tewari, Chief Marketing Officer, Too Yumm! The campaign is amplified through a digital-first strategy, supported by culture platforms, Bollywood paparazzi pages, and meme communities, as well as Ananya's active fan communities. The 'Slurp n Spill' podcast is now live on Too Yumm!'s official YouTube and social media channels. (Instagram Link 1, Link 2, Facebook) This campaign also marks Too Yumm!'s strategy to stir up the noodles category, driven by evolving consumer needs. 'Too Yumm! has earned its place as a trusted snack brand,' said Tewari. 'K-Bomb is our answer to the growing demand for meals that are indulgent, flavorful, and satisfying. It's a ramen bomb that doesn't just fill you up, but fires up your taste buds.'
