"Gemini 2.5 Pro + 2.5 Flash are now stable and generally available. Plus, get a preview of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, our fastest + most cost-efficient 2.5 model yet," Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a post on X.
"Exciting steps as we expand our 2.5 series of hybrid reasoning models that deliver amazing performance at the Pareto frontier of cost and speed," he added.
Google says that this new version is designed to excel in high-volume, latency-sensitive tasks like translation and classification, offering lower latency than its predecessors, 2.0 Flash-Lite and 2.0 Flash, across a wide range of prompts.
Despite its enhanced efficiency, 2.5 Flash-Lite retains the core capabilities that define the Gemini 2.5 family. These include the ability to adjust computational "thinking" based on budget, integrate with tools such as Google Search and code execution, support multimodal input (processing various data types), and offer a substantial 1-million-token context length, the company says.
According to Google, the model also demonstrates "all-around higher quality" than 2.0 Flash-Lite across benchmarks in coding, math, science, reasoning, and multimodal tasks.
Developers can access the preview of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite through
Google AI Studio
and Vertex AI, alongside the newly stable versions of 2.5 Flash and Pro. Both 2.5 Flash and Pro are also now accessible directly within the Gemini app. Furthermore, custom versions of 2.5 Flash-Lite and Flash have been integrated into Google Search.

Google is testing voice feature in search with AI Mode

Google has said they are testing Search Live with voice input for AI Mode in the Google app. Available to the Android and iOS users in the U.S., users on Google Labs can access the feature. 'This is perfect for when you're on the go or multitasking, like if you're packing for a trip. Simply open the Google app, tap the new 'Live' icon and verbally ask your question, like, 'What are some tips for preventing a linen dress from wrinkling in a suitcase?' You'll hear a helpful AI-generated audio response and you can easily follow up with another question, like, 'What should I do if it still wrinkles?' You'll also find easy-to-access links right on your screen so you can dig deeper with content from the web,' a blog posted by the company said. Users can continue chatting in Search Live even as they use other apps and even click on the 'transcript' button to see the text version of the response. They can also go back to a Search Live response via AI Mode history. Search Live is based on a custom version of the Gemini model with advanced voice capabilities and it also uses a query fan-out technique to display a wider range of results. Google will be rolling out more capabilities to Search Live in AI Mode including camera so it can see what the user is looking at in real-time. The Search Live option appears as a new icon directly under the search bar once inside AI Mode in Labs.

No Fed rate cut till September? What Powell's foggy forecast means for stock market investors

Despite mounting pressure from President Donald Trump to cut interest rates, Jerome Powell 's move to hold interest rates steady has now made the market price in no relief until September. The Federal Reserve Chair 's admission that "it's just a forecast in a very foggy time" did little to help investors looking for clarity on the dot plot path. While S&P 500 surrendered earlier gains following Powell's stark warning that inflation in goods prices is expected to surge over the summer as Trump's tariffs hit consumers, Sensex and Nifty were also trading near the flatline on Thursday morning. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like At 82, she dances, dresses as she wishes and dismisses her 'old-fashioned' critics CNA Read More While the median dot plot still shows two cuts in 2025, a sharp divide has emerged within the Fed ranks – seven of the 19 members now see no rate cuts this year, up from just four in March. The numbers are such that it would take just one member changing their forecast to move the median to one cut in 2025. The FOMC also removed one cut from 2026, signaling expectations of just a single reduction next year. What This Means for Indian Markets Live Events Dr. VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, offered a measured assessment: "The Fed decision and commentary have come on expected lines. Jerome Powell's comment that 'despite heightened uncertainty, the economy is in a solid position' is important." However, Vijayakumar struck a cautionary note about immediate expectations: "It would be realistic not to expect rate cuts from the Fed immediately. With only 1.4% GDP growth expected this year, the US is unlikely to attract a lot of capital flows. This is favourable for India. But since Indian market valuations remain a concern, a sustained rally will happen only when we get indications of sustained earnings growth, which is some time away." Anitha Rangan, Economist, Equirus Securities, warned of a more hawkish Fed trajectory: "The Fed policy has become more hawkish than expected not just for this year but prospectively as well. With the ongoing tensions around the geo-politics with still uncertainty around tariffs, the Fed could turn more hawkish down the road." This shift could have profound implications for India's monetary policy. "RBI may also well want to hold on to its neutral stance for a longer period of time. The pause may well be the narrative until there is clarity on the external front," Rangan noted, adding that "the new norm could well be higher inflation, moderate growth and higher rates as a result." Interest rate futures markets are now pointing to September as the most likely timing for the next rate cut, with Madhavi Arora, Lead Economist at Emkay Global Financial Services , noting that "Market pricing reflects this, with pricing for a cut at ~63%, while July is at only ~10%." JM Financial highlighted the central uncertainty plaguing markets: "The main focus of Powell was on the uncertainty around the impact of the tariffs on growth and inflation, however, his commentary lacked clarity. This indicates the extent of uncertainty that even the US central bank is facing on the tariff policy." The firm expects robust growth combined with elevated inflation to "push the rate cut expectation closer towards the year-end," with a key focus on whether the tariff deadline of July 9th is met or postponed further. As global investors navigate this "very foggy time," the message from the Fed is clear: patience will be required, and the path ahead remains fraught with uncertainty. For Indian markets, this translates to a period where domestic fundamentals and earnings growth will need to drive any sustained rally, rather than relying on global liquidity tailwinds.

1,000 millionaires a day: US added 379K people in 2024; holds 40% of world's total

. More than 379,000 people in the United States became US dollar millionaires last year—an average of over 1,000 every day. This made America the country with the highest number of new millionaires, according to the latest Global Wealth Report by Swiss bank UBS. The country now holds nearly 40% of the world's total millionaires. The increase in wealth was mainly driven by strong stock market performance and a stable US dollar. The S&P 500 index rose over 23% last year, boosting the value of investments and assets. Across the world, personal wealth grew by 4.6%, but the Americas saw an even bigger jump of more than 11%. That sharp rise made the region stand out compared to Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world. The global disparity Despite the increase in millionaires, most people across the world have far less wealth. According to the report, over 80% of adults have a net worth of under $100,000. Only about 1.6% of the global adult population is worth $1 million or more. Greater China—which includes mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—had the highest number of people with net worths between $100,000 and $1 million. Western Europe and North America followed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트, 지금 시작하세요 [자세히 보기] 임플란트 더 알아보기 Undo The report also explains that 'net worth' includes the value of all financial and real assets, such as property, minus any debts. In the Americas, the average wealth per adult by the end of 2024 was around $312,000—far lower than the millionaire mark, showing that large wealth gains remain limited to a small group. UBS expects personal wealth to keep rising in the coming years, led by continued growth in the US and parts of Asia. By 2029, the bank estimates that over 5 million more people around the world will join the ranks of millionaires.
