Another effort to help Brimson wildfire victim after destructive damage
On May 12, Steve Maki's house was was damaged in the Brimson-area Camp House Fire, while several garages, outbuildings, and vehicles were completely destroyed.
His family recently created to help pay for rebuilding efforts.
His main home will also require repairs, including new windows and doors, and electricity will need to be reconnected. Maki is currently 'underinsured,' according to the fundraiser.
'He's the third generation to live on the Maki Homestead,' the GoFundMe reads.
'Known for being incredibly hardworking and independent, Steve is the kind of person who's always quick to lend a hand when someone else is in need. Now, he's the one who could use a helping hand.'
A GoFundMe has also been created for a retired couple who lost their home after escaping the fire earlier this month.The Camp House Fire is 90% contained following several days of progress in suppressing the fire, which broke out on Sunday, May 11.
In a Thursday morning update, the Eastern Area Incident Management Team said: "Since the initial attack, a full-suppression and direct containment strategy has been utilized; and has proven very successful. Yesterday, firefighting crews and equipment working around the Camp House Fire made excellent progress on the entire perimeter of the fire's footprint.
Firefighters walking within the wildfire's burned interior, near the line, continued to search for and put out smoldering stumps and roots."
The nearby Jenkins Creek Fire, which is larger than the Camp House, is now 32% contained, having spread to around 16,750 acres.

Family of 7 launches GoFundMe after losing Ledgeview home in fire
A GoFundMe is in place for a family in Ledgeview who lost their house in a fire Aug. 13. The Loseys' house burned down in the 3900 block of Agatha Christie Avenue in Ledgeview. Firefighters responded around 9 p.m. Aug. 13. No one was inside at the time of the fire or was injured in the fire, according to the Ledgeview Fire Department. Madison Losey set up a GoFundMe to help raise money for her family. In just a day, the fundraiser already raised over $50,000 by the morning of Aug. 15. The goal is to reach $60,000. "It was a total loss of everything," Losey said on the GoFundMe page. "We only walked out with the clothes on our back." The cause of the fire and estimated worth of damage is still under investigation, the fire department said Aug. 15. The money from the fundraiser would go towards clothing, food, and housing. The GoFundMe also includes information about donating clothes to the family and how to contact the family for dropoff. US sailor, 19, declared lost at sea after going missing off Australia coast, remembered as a ‘hero'
A 19-year-old US sailor has been declared lost at sea after he was assumed to have gone overboard the USS George Washington off the coast of Australia. Jose Antonio Rivera Lynch IV was identified as the missing sailor by the Navy on Aug. 1. Rivera Lynch served as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Launch/Recovery Equipment) Airman onboard the aircraft carrier and went missing on July 28, only hours after a 'positive' phone call with his parents. 3-Year-Old Boy's Finger 'Completely Severed' in Freak Tricycle Accident

"In a lot of ways, I blame myself,' Mandi Truman, of Spencer, told ABC affiliate KOCO, 'but if I can help other families and other babies prevent this from happening, put me on blast.' In a GoFundMe that she organized to raise funds to support her family after the accident, Truman recalled that her grandson was trying to push the tricycle forward when his hand became caught in the chain underneath. 'Out of fear, he yanked his hand back, and in that moment, his fingers were severely injured,' Truman wrote in the fundraiser description. She added that one of the boy's fingers was fractured and needed stitches, while another finger was 'completely severed' and could not be saved. Fortunately, doctors were able to reattach an additional finger. Truman told KOCO that she was sitting on the back porch with her son when the freak accident occurred. She said her son moved the tricycle in a way that freed her grandson's hand and prevented further damage. "Had it not been for my son moving it just the right way and releasing him, he would have lost more," she told the news outlet. According to the grandmother, who described herself as a single mom raising two sons alone, the accident marked the second time that her grandson has been hospitalized in less than a month — adding that her heart is breaking because of the pain the boy has endured. 'I am doing everything that I can to stay strong for my children and grandson, but I am at my end. I cannot work right now due to caring for him full-time and my bills are piling up,' Truman wrote in the GoFundMe.
