Memorabilia dealer found dead after alleged $350 million counterfeit confession on Facebook
Brett Lemieux, 45 of Westfield, Ind., was the founder of prominent sports memorabilia site MisterManCave, which he claimed sold more than four million counterfeit items and surpassed $350 million in sales in a 1,200-word Facebook post on the 'Autographs 101' group Wednesday morning.
Hours after Lemieux published the post, Westfield police confirmed that he committed suicide by way of a 'self-inflicted gunshot wound.'
The Facebook post is no longer live, since Lemieux's account has been taken down.

Lemieux was able to pull off the alleged large-scale counterfeit scheme by faking holograms, authentication stickers for sports collectibles, of some of the most prominent companies in sports memorabilia: Panini, Fanatics, Tri-Star, James Spence Authentics, Mill Creek Sports and GT Marketing, among others.
Lemieux would use the fake holograms to sell counterfeit memorabilia at a far lower price than market, and he profited handsomely off that tactic.
In the Facebook post, Lemieux said he released 80,000 pieces of memorabilia into the market when Kobe Bryant died in 2020.
He noted that he considered stopping with his operation, but that the money was 'too good.'

'People have known about this guy. They've known his work. They know what he's been up to,' well-known sports memorabilia expert Steve Grad told WRTV Indianapolis
'He has been at it for years and years. And he's driven down the price of things. You know, you look at a Tom Brady autograph and Tom Brady's value is affected drastically by this individual.'
Andy Albert, who owns the Indy Card Exchange in Indianapolis, told WRTV his phone was 'blowing up all night' at the news.

Bear caught behind counter at Tahoe ice cream shop
Customers weren't the only ones craving sweets in South Lake Tahoe last weekend. Deputies responding to an early morning call on Sunday discovered a large black bear behind the counter of the Ice Cream Shop at Camp Richardson — apparently drawn to the strawberry ice cream. 'The deputies could barely believe their eyes,' the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday. The bear eventually left with little damage, but the encounter highlights a growing concern in the region: Tahoe's bears are becoming bolder. Wildlife officials say black bears are increasingly entering homes, cars and businesses in search of food. Last month, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife euthanized a 400-pound bear known as No. 717 after years of break-ins and aggressive behavior. Another bear, nicknamed Hope, is currently under watch following a series of soft entries in the Tahoe Keys. Officials estimate there are about 500 black bears in the Tahoe Basin and as many as 71,000 statewide. Encounters can be startling, but experts stress that attacks are extremely rare. Rehoboth man charged with assaulting pregnant woman who is now missing: What to know
A 22-year-old Rehoboth man has been arrested on charges that he assaulted a missing pregnant 18-year-old woman the day before she disappeared. Gregory Groom has been charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness for acts committed against 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro on Wednesday, Aug. 6, according to a written statement from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Monteiro was last seen on Aug. 7, according to a post by the Rehoboth Police Department. Groom is currently being held without bail and will be arraigned on Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, in Taunton District Court. Bristol County State Police Detective Unit members and the Rehoboth Police Department are attempting to locate Monteiro, according to the Aug. 11 Facebook post by Rehoboth Police. Monteiro was last seen in the area of County Street in Rehoboth on Aug. 7, according to the post. She is approximately 6-feet tall with light brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a red t-shirt with "get over it" printed on the front, ripped jeans and tan boots and she may have been carrying a white bag with her belongings. The post asks anyone with information regarding her whereabouts or with surveillance video of County Street to contact Trooper Sabrina Hinchey at 508-972-1041 or Rehoboth Police Det. "I don't know if they have her, but some part of me feels like they do."
