Bears rookie Luther Burden is candidate to return punts
The Chicago Bears landed an explosive playmaker in rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III, so naturally they'd like to get him the ball as much as possible.
While Burden will play a key role in Ben Johnson's offense -- most likely in the slot, where he thrived in college -- he'll also have the opportunity to compete on special teams for the punt returner job.
'He's going to have a chance just like everyone else, but you see it on offense and saw it in college, how electric he is when the ball is in his hands,' special teams coordinator Richard Hightower said. 'Like, he's a different dude with the ball in his hand. So all we're looking for is playmakers that will help us change field position and win games. So, that's what I see in him, along with our other returners that we acquired this offseason as well.'
Burden served as a punt returner at Missouri, primarily during his freshman season, where he returned 12 punts for 151 yards (12.6 average), including a punt return touchdown. In his final two years, Burden returned a total of 12 points for 101 yards (8.3 average).
The Bears will have quite the competition at the returner position, which includes newcomers Olamide Zaccheaus, former Pro Bowl returner Devin Duvernay, Maurice Alexander and Burden, as well as returning veterans Travis Homer, Tyler Scott and Josh Blackwell.

3 Baltimore Ravens hidden gems on 2025 roster you need to know
The post 3 Baltimore Ravens hidden gems on 2025 roster you need to know appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Baltimore Ravens have yet to get over the hump that is stopping them from returning to the Super Bowl. Since winning the Lombardi trophy in 2012, the Ravens have made it to the AFC Championship game just one time, and they lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, the Ravens fell short against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round. Advertisement Despite their playoff shortcomings, the Ravens have been one of the best teams in the NFL. Lamar Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and Derrick Henry has proven to be ageless as he continues to run through defenders. Additionally, Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith, Nate Wiggins, and Marlon Humphrey have led Baltimore to be one of the best defensive teams in football. Heading into the new season, the Ravens are looking to not only win their division and make the playoffs, but also get back to the Super Bowl. Baltimore could have a few more moves to make, but as it stands right now, the team is just as good as it was last season. Below are three hidden gems on the Ravens roster right now that a lot of football fans may not know about. Defensive Lineman Travis Jones Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images Travis Jones is one of the better interior defensive linemen in the NFL. He was drafted back in 2022 in the third round of the NFL draft out of the University of Connecticut. He quickly made an impact for Baltimore, but he has yet to make a Pro Bowl. Advertisement Jones had a breakout year in 2024, though. He finished with a career-best 42 total tackles and a PFF grade of 69.9. The 6-foot-4 338 338-pound interior lineman had the 27th-best interior lineman PFF grade and the 13th-best run defense grade (72.0). He is going to stuff runners at the line and create chaos in the middle. The 25-year-old is entering his fourth season in the NFL, and he is poised for another great season. He has a lot of competition from other teams when it comes to the awards at the end of the year, but he is more than capable of becoming a top defensive lineman in football. Edge Rusher Odafe Oweh Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images Oweh is coming off the best season of his young career. The 26-year-old was a first-round pick in 2021, but there he was not living up to the expectations. Before 2024, the most sacks he had in a season were five, and he was just not very consistent. Advertisement Last year, though, Oweh was able to show why he was such an early pick in the draft. The edge rusher had 10 sacks, 39 total tackles, a forced fumble, and 9.5 stuffs. Those stats gave him a PFF grade of 71.5, which ranked 31st among all edge rushers. With that, Oweh had the 25th-best pass rush PFF grade among all edge rushers. He seems to have found his stride as a pass rusher, and the Ravens are going to need him to have a repeat year if they want to beat the Bills or Chiefs in the playoffs. Linebacker Jake Hummel Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Hummel is one of those players who has not received a lot of playing time, but he has the talent. He went undrafted in 2022, but the Los Angeles Rams picked him up, and he was able to stick a little bit there. Advertisement Baltimore signed Hummel back in March, and they are hoping he can make an impact as a backup linebacker. Hummel will not get starting reps over Smith, but he could have a chance to get more playing time over Trenton Simpson. Hummel played in all 17 games last year, but he averaged just one tackle per game. Still, the 26-year-old finished with a PFF grade of 77.1. He did not get enough snaps to be ranked among linebackers, but it shows how well he played when given the chance. The linebacker is much better on run defense, but he is a capable pass defender. Hummel is definitely someone worth keeping an eye on as the season approaches.

Derrick Henry, Dan Patrick make 2,000-yard Adam Sandler bet for Ravens 2025 season
The post Derrick Henry, Dan Patrick make 2,000-yard Adam Sandler bet for Ravens 2025 season appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Baltimore Ravens have high hopes for the 2025 campaign, and one reason why is because of superstar running back Derrick Henry. Fresh off arguably the best year of his entire career in 2024, Henry earned a historic two-year, $30 million contract extension from the Ravens earlier this offseason. As if he didn't already have enough motivation, he just earned some more from Dan Patrick. Advertisement While Henry is focused on taking care of his body this offseason in preparation of the upcoming season, he revealed that in his downtime, he enjoys watching Adam Sandler movies. When Patrick revealed he got a new sweatshirt promoting 'Happy Gilmore 2' from Sandler, Henry had a simple request for him. 'If you ever see him again, tell him I'm a really big fan and I'd really love to meet him one day,' Henry said on 'The Dan Patrick Show.' Patrick responded by saying that he'd see if he could get Sandler to send a video for Henry to him. But he then offered to up the ante by making a bet with Henry. 'If you get to 2,000 yards, I'll get you in a Sandler movie,' Patrick said to Henry. Advertisement 'Alright, cool. Say no more,' Henry replied. 'Remember that now. Remember this … The bet is on. No pressure at all.' Derrick Henry has even more motivation to excel for Ravens in 2025 Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images After a bit of a down year in his final season with the Tennessee Titans in 2023, Henry reminded everyone last season that he's still one of the best running backs in the league. Henry racked up 1,921 yards and a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns, playing in all 17 games for Baltimore. He earned his fifth Pro Bowl selection, a spot on the All-Pro Second Team, and a fourth-place finish in the Offensive Player of the Year race. Advertisement As if getting handed a huge new deal wasn't enough of an incentive, Henry now could find himself in a movie with Sandler if he eclipses the 2,000-yard mark in 2025. He previously managed to do so back in 2020, when he picked up 2,027 yards in just 16 games with the Titans. With an extra game at his disposal, all eyes will be on Henry to see if he can reach that major milestone after coming up just short last season. Texans All-Pro CB Derek Stingley Jr. ranked inside the top-32 by PFF
Texans All-Pro CB Derek Stingley Jr. ranked inside the top-32 by PFF Derek Stingley Jr. proved that his rise in 2023 was just the beginning. Last season, the former No. 3 overall pick proved he was an elite shutdown defender who might be considered among the best players in the league for the 2025 season as the Houston Texans look to compete for a spot in the AFC Championship game. Coming off an All-Pro season, Stingley totaled five interceptions (tied for sixth most), 18 pass breakups (second most) and allowed the second-lowest completion percentage among cornerbacks with at least 200 coverage snaps (46.7%), according to NFL Next Gen Stats in 2024. That led to a new three-year, $90 million extension this offseason, making Stingley the highest-paid cornerback in the league with an annual $30 million salary. But while Stingley might have the respect from the Texans, is he the No. 1 cornerback entering 2025 based on projections? Not according to Pro Football Focus, which listed him as the No. 5 defensive back behind New York's Sauce Gardner, Denver's Pat Surtain II, Kansas City's Trent McDuffie and Chicago's Jaylon Johnson. "After a poor rookie season, Stingley has generated a 90.3 PFF coverage grade over the past two seasons — the best mark among all cornerbacks," John Koso wrote. "The 2022 No. 3 overall pick plays a high-risk, high-reward brand of football and threads that needle well, as his 12 interceptions across the past two years lead the league." Even after a down rookie season, Stingley made up for the lack of production with two Pro Bowl-caliber seasons. Fully healthy, he's been the definition of consistent when asked to line up in man coverage and an enforcer in one-on-one battles against top receivers. The highest-paid defensive back should begin the season as the top name opposite Kamari Lassiter in the AFC. In time with another dominant campaign, he should land no lower than No. 2 and compete with Surtain for Defensive Player of the Year accolades for the long haul. The Texans open the season against Davante Adams and the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Sept. 7.
