Luther Burden Goes Viral With TikTok Dance, Fans React Sharply Online

Luther Burden Goes Viral With TikTok Dance, Fans React Sharply Online originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Bears are in the middle of mandatory minicamp, and while a few rookies are dealing with injuries, one first-year wide receiver—who is also among those dealing with an injury—is making headlines for something entirely different. With practice intensity ramping up and position battles underway, a viral moment from a rookie wideout is stirring up conversation off the field. Whether that's a good or bad thing? Well, that depends on who you ask. Advertisement Luther Burden III, 21, is already being called the steal of the draft by many fans and analysts. But it's not just his on-field promise that has people talking. A recent TikTok featuring the rookie wideout has exploded online, thanks to a post from Don Kleiman on X (formerly Twitter) captioned simply: 'Trending: Bears rookie WR Luther Burden has gone viral for his recent TikTok video'. The clip has already surpassed 700,000 views and continues to climb, drawing reactions across social media. In the video, Burden takes part in the trending 'She Was a Fairy Challenge,' a TikTok dance set to Myaap's song 'Fairy' that involves striking poses in rhythm with the beat. The reaction? Mixed—at best. Some fans were quick to roast the moment, with comments like: 'And this is why Vrabel said I'm good' — a reference to Mike Vrabel, the new head coach of the New England Patriots. 'They gonna use this if he's a bust' 'Brb gotta bet the Under win total for the Bears' Chicago Bears logo on a helmetGetty Images Burden, who racked up over 2,000 receiving yards in three years at Missouri, has the resume and the talent to silence critics. Bears rookie Luther Burden is candidate to return punts

Bears rookie Luther Burden is candidate to return punts The Chicago Bears landed an explosive playmaker in rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III, so naturally they'd like to get him the ball as much as possible. While Burden will play a key role in Ben Johnson's offense -- most likely in the slot, where he thrived in college -- he'll also have the opportunity to compete on special teams for the punt returner job. 'He's going to have a chance just like everyone else, but you see it on offense and saw it in college, how electric he is when the ball is in his hands,' special teams coordinator Richard Hightower said. 'Like, he's a different dude with the ball in his hand. So all we're looking for is playmakers that will help us change field position and win games. So, that's what I see in him, along with our other returners that we acquired this offseason as well.' Burden served as a punt returner at Missouri, primarily during his freshman season, where he returned 12 punts for 151 yards (12.6 average), including a punt return touchdown. In his final two years, Burden returned a total of 12 points for 101 yards (8.3 average). The Bears will have quite the competition at the returner position, which includes newcomers Olamide Zaccheaus, former Pro Bowl returner Devin Duvernay, Maurice Alexander and Burden, as well as returning veterans Travis Homer, Tyler Scott and Josh Blackwell. NFL analyst explains what makes Bears rookie WR Luther Burden special

NFL analyst explains what makes Bears rookie WR Luther Burden special The Chicago Bears used their first two selections in the 2025 NFL draft to add two weapons for quarterback Caleb Williams in tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden. Those two rookies should have a big part in new head coach Ben Johnson's offense, which should help get the team back to winning ways (as long as Williams takes the next step in his career development). Landing Burden came as a bit of a surprise after the Bears drafted Rome Odunze in the first round last year, and they already have DJ Moore as their top receiver. The receiver room not only got deeper but much more talented with the selection of Burden, and football analysts are taking notice. CBS Sports analyst Charles Davis appeared on the "Take The North" podcast with Mark Grote and Dan Wiederer, where he talked about Burden and the impact he can have in his rookie season. "He's not quicker than fast cause he's both, a lot of times your slot receivers are way more quick than they are fast, in this case, you get both out of him," Davis said. "Really good hands, great determination after the catch. I did a player comp for him and it was Jayden Reed of the Green Bay Packers. If you watch them play, body types are similar, routes they run are similar, what they do with the ball in their hands after the catch is similar. They bounce off people, run through people, run away from people, the whole deal." Bears fans may not love the comparison to a Packers wide receiver, but the talent level that Burden has is undeniable. It'll be interesting to see how Ben Johnson gets Caleb Williams to distribute the ball to an abundance of weapons, but they'll definitely have plenty of options and Burden could be quite the contributor in his rookie season.
