'Tu bahar mil': Convict, lawyer threaten Delhi judge after conviction
The situation turned violent when the accused even tried to hurl an object at Judicial Magistrate (NI Act) Shivangi Mangla after she ruled against him. He further instructed his lawyer to take any step necessary to secure a favourable order.
In a threatening remark recorded in the court's April 2 order, the accused told the judge: 'Tu hai kya cheez ... .ki tu bahar mil dekhte hai kaise zinda ghar jaati hai.... [Who even are you... just meet me outside and let's see how you make it back home alive].'
Judge Mangla had convicted the accused under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (dishonor of cheque) and had directed him to furnish bail bonds under Section 437A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) at the next hearing.
However, instead of complying, the accused and his counsel allegedly began harassing the judge both mentally and physically, pressuring her to resign from her post, the court order noted.
They continued their misconduct, demanding an acquittal, and even threatened to file false complaints against her to force her resignation, it added.
Standing firm, Judge Mangla made it clear in her order that she would take the necessary steps against the accused.
'Still the undersigned stand against all the odds and always do needful in favour of justice. The undersigned shall be taking appropriate measures against the accused before National Commission Women, Delhi for such threatening and harassment,' the court stated.
The judge also issued a show cause notice to the convict's lawyer, advocate Atul Kumar, asking him to explain why criminal contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for misbehaviour in court.
'Court notice be issued to counsel for accused Sh. Atul Kumar to show cause in writing providing relevant explanation for the conduct shown by him today and further to explain as to why he shall not be referred to the Hon'ble High Court for initiating criminal contempt proceedings against him for such misbehaviour.'

Three acquitted in 25-yr-old assault case after victims say not attacked
Noida: Two brothers and their associate, who were accused of attacking and threatening two villagers during a panchayat meeting 25 years ago, were acquitted by the additional civil court on Tuesday after the victims, who were also the only two witnesses in the case, turned hostile. On Oct 8, 2000, an FIR was lodged at Dankaur police station by Nangla resident Narendra Singh accusing three brothers—Bharat Singh, Yashpal, and Prem—and their associate, Sundar Singh, of attacking him and his brother when they went to attend a panchayat meeting. "A meeting of the members of the gram panchayat was called by the panchayat secretary for forming a village committee on Oct 8, 2000. I suggested that instead of holding the meeting at Bharat's house, it should have been convened at the school building near Panchayat Bhavan for everyone to access. This angered the brothers, and they attacked me with sticks and butt of a pistol," the FIR said. The court agreed that the prosecution failed to establish their culpability in the assault and criminal intimidation and ordered their release from judicial custody. What Is The Punishment For Slapping A CM? Rekha Gupta's Attacker May Face Serious Charges
Earlier, slapping or pushing led to warnings under Section 107/51 CrPC. Now, stricter sections apply, with evidence collection and court proceedings following FIR registration Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing at her camp office on Wednesday morning, police said. The assailant was identified as Rajesh Khimji. BJP sources said that during the public hearing, the accused handed some papers to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta before attacking her. Senior BJP leader Harish Khurana told a news channel that the assailant slapped the Chief Minister and pulled her hair. Slapping someone is considered a crime under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), classified as 'voluntarily causing hurt'. Under Section 115 of the BNS, slapping someone falls under 'intentionally causing hurt,' punishable with up to one year in jail, a fine of up to Rs 10,000, or both. However, Delhi Police have registered an FIR against the attacker of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, charging him with attempted murder. Punishment Based On Circumstances The severity of the punishment can vary based on the circumstances. If the slap prevents a government employee from performing their duties, a case can be registered under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Section 353 of IPC earlier), which may result in up to two years in jail, a fine, or both. If the attack occurs during another serious crime like robbery, the punishment can be more severe. Using criminal force or symbolic attacks intended to scare, without causing physical harm, can still be punishable under the Indian law. Changes In Legal Procedures Previously, incidents of slapping and pushing led to preventive action under Section 107/51 of CrPC, where the accused was presented before a duty magistrate and released after a warning. Now, depending on the situation, additional sections may apply. After registering a case under these sections, the investigating officer will collect evidence, and the matter will proceed in court. If found guilty, the accused can face up to one year in prison and may also be fined. How CM Rekha Gupta Was Attacked During a public hearing at her camp office on Raj Niwas Marg, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was suddenly attacked by a man while engaging with citizens and listening to their complaints. The assailant, identified as 41-year-old Rajesh Khimji Sakariya from Rajkot, handed her some papers before shouting abuses and slapping her. Security personnel quickly restrained him and took him into custody, restoring order at the venue. The Chief Minister, visibly shaken, underwent a medical examination following the incident. Initial police questioning revealed Sakariya's identity, and authorities are coordinating with Rajkot Police to verify his background. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with investigators exploring whether it was a spontaneous act or a premeditated attempt. Some court papers were recovered from the accused, and police said he also attempted to throw stones at the Chief Minister. The incident has sparked serious concerns about the security arrangements for the Delhi Chief Minister. The BJP condemned the attack, and officials confirmed that the Union Home Ministry has been informed. An eyewitness, Anjali, told ANI that the attack was shocking and alarming. She said the incident raised serious concerns about safety during Jan Sunvai, adding that anyone attending should feel secure. 'I was present when it happened. The man was speaking and suddenly slapped the Chief Minister. The police acted immediately and took him into custody," she recounted. Another eyewitness, Shailendra Kumar, who came from Uttam Nagar to raise a sewer-related complaint, described the scene as chaotic. He said, 'The moment I arrived at the gates, there was turmoil because the Chief Minister had been slapped. Such an incident should never occur."
