Metallica to rock the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025 concerts
It's that time of year again. The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025 is turning up the volume, and we are buzzing with excitement because the Yasalam After-Race Concert Series has announced another international artist for this year's race weekend.
Metalheads in the UAE, prepare to unleash your inner rock star because the kings of metal, Metallica are set to blow the roof off the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025 concerts on 6 December.
Formed in 1981, Metallica has been the driving force behind heavy metal's global domination. With James Hetfield's unmistakable vocals, Lars Ulrich's thunderous drumming, Kirk Hammett's electrifying guitar solos, and Robert Trujillo's bass mastery, this rock band is a powerhouse of musical talent.
Metallica's discography boasts a treasure trove of headbanging anthems. From Fade to Black to Master of Puppets and One, each song is a sonic adventure. With several Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they have repeatedly proven their musical prowess.
Metallica will perform in Abu Dhabi on 6 December, joining the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025 line-up alongside Benson Boone on Thursday, 4 December and Katy Perry on Sunday, 7 December. And the party's only getting started — more big names are yet to be announced.
The show forms part of Metallica's M72 World Tour, which features a series of stadium shows in North America, Australia and New Zealand. The tour supports their 2023 album, 72 Seasons, and features the 'No Repeat Weekend' format, which has included two-night stands in cities such as Toronto, Nashville, and Philadelphia, with different setlists each night.
Whether you've been a fan since the 80s or just discovered them recently, there's something timeless about Metallica's music that speaks to the rebel in all of us.

This weekend, we're staying at the recently-refurbished Residence. The Room Recently, the 48 rooms and suites of the Residence underwent a meticulous renovation, revealing a fresh new look that blends timeless Arabian design elements with contemporary touches. Our room, the Junior Suite, is located on the ground floor of The Residences, with a shaded patio that overlooks the gorgeous gardens and the pool. The room itself is expansive, divided into a sitting area and a bedroom. Wooden fittings, low-hanging lanterns and lattice partitions give the room an Arabian feel, while large mirrors, plush carpeting, curated coffee table books and the airy bathroom add a modern touch. It truly feels like a residence, somehow more boutique and personal. The Food & Drink The first night, we dined at Tagine, the resident Moroccan restaurant draped in cultural and heritage elements. The staff spoil us with keen, attentive service and we sample some authentic Morrocan favourites like the namesake tagine, a selection of dips, pastries and starters, couscous and tender meat – everything packed with flavour and varied textures. The next day we have lunch at The Beach Bar & Grill by Mauro Colagreco, a charming, nautical-themed establishment perched by the beach. Here, we sample delicious seafood cooked with bright, colourful ingredients and South American flair. Portions at both the restaurants are hearty and filling. The Activities During our stay, we're invited to join the Moonlight night swim at the adults-only Janoub Pool, located in The Palace. The night is crisp and pleasant, and we relax in the infinity pool followed by a quick dinner on the loungers of some of the bar bites – warm empanadas, a meaty burger and some drinks. The rest of the night is spent lounging on the sun beds, breathing in the nighttime air and the calm of our surroundings. We also have a couples massage at The Spa, a quiet sanctuary laid further and further inward for complete disconnect – a much-needed reset – and explore Sauce, the in-house vacation store. Besides this, The Residence does have a fitness centre with a trainer, a pool, access to the beach and The Library Bar for moody evenings. Ozzy Osbourne tributes flood in as hometown Birmingham mourns
Hundreds of Ozzy Osbourne fans gathered at landmarks linked to the rocker in his birthplace of Birmingham on Wednesday, while artists paid tribute to his influence on heavy metal music. Fans laid floral tributes at a bench and bridge in central England named after Black Sabbath, the band with whom Osbourne pioneered the heavy metal genre in the late 1960s, after his death on Tuesday at the age of 76. Chloe Allen, a 25-year-old student who was visiting the Sabbath bench, said Osbourne's "Crazy Train" introduced her to metal music. "(His music made me) realise that actually, you can be alternative, you can wear black, you can rock on, and you can just be you," she said, speaking from the Sabbath bench.
