South Korean actor-singer Lee Dong Gun is the latest celebrity to find himself at the centre of dating rumours. Best known for his roles in popular dramas such as Sweet 18, Lovers in Paris, and Queen for Seven Days, the 45-year-old star was recently spotted spending time with a woman in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
The duo was spotted on May 24, appearing close and affectionate. According to a report by SPOTV News on Wednesday, May 28, Lee Dong Gun was seen closely walking with the woman, packing on PDAs without paying much attention to the onlookers. This led to widespread speculations that the actor-singer might be in a new relationship.
In response to the rumours, Lee Dong Gun's agency, WPLUS, refrained from commenting on the personal life of the actor, saying, 'It's a matter of his private life, so it's difficult to confirm."
Some people also wondered if the sighting of Lee Dong Gun with the woman was related to the filming for the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy, but it was later confirmed that the sighting had nothing to do with the show.
The aforementioned outlet, in a follow-up report, identified the woman spotted with the 45-year-old actor-singer as actress Kang Hae Rim, who is 16 years his junior. The report further claimed that the two have introduced each other as romantic partners to close friends, hinting at a serious relationship. When approached for a comment, Kang Hae Rim's agency, ANDMARQ, responded, 'It's difficult to confirm." As of now, neither Lee Dong Gun nor Kang Hae Rim has commented directly on the dating rumours.
Lee Dong Gun was previously married to actress Jo Yoon Hee in 2017. They even welcomed a daughter together in December that year. Nearly three years after their marriage, the two decided to call it quits in 2020. As of now, Jo Yoon Hee has custody of their daughter.
Speaking of his professional front, Lee Dong Gun is currently seen on the variety show My Little Old Boy, which airs every Sunday on SBS. He is one of the regular cast members on the show. In addition to appearing on television, the 45-year-old actor also recently opened a cafe in Jeju Island, which features a Mediterranean-style interior.
