WB Madhyamik Result 2025: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) will declare the Madhyamik (Class 10) results today at 9am. However, the results will be available on the official website - wbbse.wb.gov.in - starting at 9.45am. They will also be accessible at wbresults.nic.in and on the NDTV special page. Students can access their scorecards using their roll number and date of birth on the result portals.
"This is for information of all concerned that the Results of Madhyamik Pariksha (SE), 2025 will be announced by the President, Ad-hoc Committee, WBBSE on May 2, 2025 at 9am. The results will be available at wbbse.wb.gov.in from 9.45am on May 2. Schools will get the mark sheets and certificates from their respective Camp Offices of the Board from 10am on 02.05.2025," the official notice states.
This year, more girls than boys appeared for the West Bengal Class 10 board exams, with 5,55,950 female candidates out of a total of 9,84,753.
The theory exams were conducted from February 10 to February 22. Assessments for Physical Education, Social Service, and Work Education were held from March 19 to April 2. All exams were held in a single shift, from 10.45am to 2pm, with the first 15 minutes allotted for reading the question paper.
Supplementary Exams:
Students who fail to pass in one or more subjects will have the opportunity to appear for supplementary examinations. The date and schedule for these exams will be announced along with the result declaration. The Madhyamik 2025 mark sheet available online will be provisional. Original mark sheets can be collected from respective schools approximately 15 days after the results are declared.
WB Madhyamik Result Trends In Previous Years:
2024: The WBBSE declared the Class 10 results on May 2, with a pass percentage of 83.61. Kalimpong district recorded the highest success rate at 96.26%. Chandrachur Sen from Cooch Behar topped the exam with 99% marks.
2023: The results were announced on May 19, with a pass percentage of 86.15. Shyamapriya Guru secured the first position with 98.86% marks.
2022: The results were declared on June 3, with an overall pass percentage of 86.60.

In a significant shift, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed students who studied Basic Mathematics (241) in Class 10 to opt for Mathematics Standard (041) in Class 11, starting from the academic year 2025-26. This initiative offers greater flexibility to students in shaping their academic path, provided they meet certain conditions. The decision, announced in an official notification dated May 27, 2025, marks a shift from the earlier rule where only students who had taken Mathematics Standard (041) in Class 10 were permitted to continue with the subject at the senior secondary level. Students with Basic Math were previously limited to choosing Applied Mathematics in Class 11. According to the circular, heads of schools must assess and ensure that students who wish to switch from Basic Math to core Mathematics in Class 11 have the necessary aptitude and academic preparedness to handle the subject's rigour. The Board has instructed schools to communicate the change to parents and students so they can make informed subject choices while filling the List of Candidates (LOC). Once subjects are finalised in LOC, no modifications will be permitted. This relaxation is a continuation of temporary exemptions introduced during the pandemic years, when students who opted for Basic Math were allowed to take Mathematics (041) in higher classes. However, the CBSE has clarified that the current decision will remain valid only until a new scheme of studies is introduced under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE). Until then, other provisions of the earlier circular issued on January 10, 2019, will continue to apply. The dual-level Mathematics system was introduced by CBSE in the 2019-20 academic session to offer students options based on their interest and future academic plans. While Mathematics (Standard) caters to those wish to pursue the subject in higher studies, Mathematics (Basic) is designed for those who do not wish to continue with it beyond Class 10.

CBSE allows Basic Math students to study subject in Class 11
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has allowed students with basic mathematics in Class 10 to pursue the subject in Class 11 onwards. The decision will be implemented from the 2025-2026 academic session. The notification (dated May 27) asked the school heads to ensure that the student has the ability and aptitude to handle Class 11 mathematics. Notably, in CBSE, two levels of Mathematics for the Secondary School Examination were introduced from the academic session ending March 2020 onwards. The Mathematics (Standard) is for those students who wish to opt for Mathematics (041) at Class 12 level, and the Mathematics (Basic) is for students who are not keen to pursue Mathematics at higher levels. In the previous sessions, CBSE had given an exemption to offer Mathematics (041) in classes 10th and 12th to the students who offered Mathematics (Basic) in Class 10; however, the decision was affected because of the pandemic and other issues. As per the change, the relaxation students who offered Mathematics Basic (241) are now also allowed to offer Mathematics (041) in Class 11. 'Before permitting Mathematics (041) in class XI to such students, the head of the Institution/School should satisfy that the students have the aptitude and ability to pursue Mathematics (041) in class 11th,' read the notification. It is important for parents to note that once the subject is filled in LOC, no changes will be entertained. However, the Board informed that this relaxation will not be applicable once the new scheme of studies is implemented. The new scheme of studies will be based on the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE). Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start registrations for the CBSE supplementary exams for private students today. The registration facility is for both classes 10th and 12th. Students who are interested and want to apply for the CBSE supplementary results can visit the official website. Moreover, CBSE Class 12 students are permitted to register for the improvement exams in one subject; on the other hand, Class 1o students can improve their scores in up to two subjects.

"Good Amount Of Grind, Grit Must": Women Cadets On NDA Journey
Pune: Emotions ran high during the Passing Out Parade at the National Defence Academy (NDA) as over 300 male cadets were joined by the first ever group of women cadets to graduate from the tri-services institute. Among the 17 women cadets to graduate from NDA was Shriti Daksh, who secured the highest rank in the Bachelor of Arts stream. For her, the journey at the academy was overwhelming and a roller-coaster of emotions. She said the difference between men and women was never really felt during training. "Everyone was treated the same. We (women cadets) were integrated gradually and trained in every aspect," she told NDTV. Another cadet Ishita Sangwan was thankful for the guidance of training officers and coursemates since she joined the institute in 2022, after the Supreme Court allowed women's enrolment in the NDA. "We knew nothing about fauj (army). Our officers and coursemates hand-held us. They have seen me from morning to evening and now it feels like we have always known each other," she said. For Srishti Singh, the journey of a cadet was one of ups and downs, of facing injury scares and making the "best of friends in the worst of times". "We went through a good amunt of ragda (grind) and often felt like leaving. But today when I am passing out, I feel like I should stay a bit longer," she said. She added that at the NDA, women were given equal space and opportunity and never treated differently than the men. Ms Daksh urged women to join the forces in greater numbers and be a part of the change. "No aim is too small or big. All that is needed is grit and determination," she said. Ms Sangwan admitted that very day is tough, but one has to think big and remember their reasons for being at the academy. Ms Singh credited her parents for pushing her to join the NDA, but her parents said the cadet's calibre and dedication was behind her graduation. Her proud father said, "Girls can do anything!" During the 148th Passing Out Parade today at the Khetrpal Parade Ground of the tri-service training academy in Khadakwasla, the women were marches past the Antim Pag. Academy cadet captain, Udayveer Negi, commanded the parade that was attended by Gen V K Singh, former Army Chief and current governor of Mizoram, as the reviewing officer.
