Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival 2025 from July 15
A preparatory meeting, held in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar on Sunday, discussed the organisational and logistical plans for the festival. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Sultan bin Mansour al Ghufaili, Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, along with representatives from government and private entities, civil society organisations and event operators.
The upcoming edition of the festival will feature a range of tourism, entertainment and cultural activities that highlight the unique natural and climatic features of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, reinforcing its status as a premier summer destination for visitors from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting also emphasised enhancing institutional coordination among stakeholders to ensure a well-organised festival that meets visitors' expectations. Discussions also covered improving the overall tourist experience, reviewing event site readiness, infrastructure plans, health monitoring, and visitor flow management, along with all supporting services.
A visual presentation was given summarising the outcomes of the 2024 Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Summer Festival, including visitor numbers, hotel occupancy rates and community engagement levels. This step aims to build on past successes and achieve greater economic and tourism impact this year.
Additionally, the meeting outlined various planned activities, including theatrical performances, entertainment programmes, sports events and cultural showcases.
A special presentation introduced the 'Gulf Knights Forum,' a new addition to this year's festival, targeting equestrian enthusiasts from GCC countries. The forum will feature heritage and competitive programmes, enriching the festival's regional appeal and fostering cultural exchange.
Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Festival 2025 aligns with Al Dakhiliyah Governorate's efforts to boost domestic tourism, stimulate economic activity and create temporary employment opportunities by supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and local producers, offering them participation and promotional opportunities.
The governorate is also promoting summer events through its 'Our Summer is Cool' campaign, which highlights the temperate climate and tourist attractions of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. — ONA

AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: A meeting was held on Thursday in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, chaired by Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Sultan bin Mansoor al Ghufaili, Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, and Masoud bin Sulaiman al Azri, Director-General of Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. The meeting reviewed the initial concept of an investment project the ministry intends to implement in the wilayat. The project includes multiple facilities, most notably a "Honey Museum" with halls dedicated to the history of Omani bees, a sorting unit, a scientific laboratory and an environmental corner, in addition to other service facilities. The project also features a local rose farm, a rosewater distillation factory with an interactive viewing window, a dedicated area for workshops and a shop for rose products, along with other service amenities. Furthermore, the project will include an olive farm and a public park that promote integrated eco-tourism and agricultural concepts. H M, Starmer discuss strengthening strategic partnership
By OMAN NEWS AGENCY (ONA) London – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street on Wednesday where the two leaders discussed ways to deepen the strategic partnership between Oman and the United Kingdom. The meeting reviewed existing cooperation and reaffirmed the shared commitment to broadening ties across economic, investment and trade sectors, in line with the mutual aspirations for greater prosperity. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments. His Majesty the Sultan welcomed the United Kingdom's intention to recognise the State of Palestine and reiterated Oman's firm support for all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution. PM Starmer praised Oman's constructive role under His Majesty the Sultan's leadership in promoting dialogue and peace, and contributing to regional and international security and stability. The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Head of Private Office; and Badr bin Mohammed al Mandhari, Ambassador of Oman to the United Kingdom. Representing the UK were Jonathan Powell, National Security Adviser, and Dr Lianne Saunders, British Ambassador to Oman.

The project is aimed at enhancing the tourist attractions of the antique village located in the Wilayat of Al Hamra, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The meeting was chaired by Shaikh Sulaiman bin Said al Azri, Wali of Al Hamra. Al Azri said that Misfat Al Abriyeen Village Restoration Project reflects a common vision to revive traditional architectural and urban heritage in Oman.
