Playing Connections is simple but tricky. You start with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to group the words into four sets of four that share a common link. These links can be literal, metaphorical, or based on word associations. Once you select a group of four words, hit the 'Submit' button. If correct, that group is removed from the board. You only get four chances to make mistakes, so choose wisely. The four categories are colour-coded by difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest).
Hints for today's NYT Connections (30 May)
To help you solve today's puzzle, here are the theme hints for each of the four groups:
Yellow group – These are all types of rods
Green group – Items that usually come in rolls
Blue group – Items commonly handed out as promotional freebies
Purple group – Words that can come before 'shack' in popular phrases or names
Answers for today's Connections (30 May)
Yellow group – Rods: BAT, CLUB, STAFF, STICK
Green group – They're on a roll!: FOIL, RIBBON, TAPE, TOILET PAPER
Blue group – Common swag items: HAT, TEE, TOTE, WATER BOTTLE
Purple group – Words before "shack": CADDY, LOVE, RADIO, SHAKE
Explanation of today's answers
The yellow group contains items that are types of rods or handheld sticks, such as a bat for baseball or a staff often used in hiking or fantasy tales.
The green group are all objects that are typically rolled up. Toilet paper, foil, ribbon, and tape are all stored and dispensed from rolls, making the connection logical and physical.
The blue group includes popular promotional items. If you've attended any conference or corporate event, you've likely come home with a hat, tee, tote bag, or water bottle emblazoned with a company logo.
The purple group is a fun wordplay category. Each word can be paired with 'shack' to form a well-known term or brand: Caddyshack (film), Love Shack (song by The B-52's), RadioShack (retail chain), and Shake Shack (restaurant chain).
Today's puzzle was a satisfying mix of straightforward connections and clever wordplay. The trickiest part was arguably the purple group, but once 'Radio' and 'Shake' were spotted, the pattern clicked into place. Whether you solved it quickly or needed some nudges, remember each day brings a new challenge. Come back tomorrow for another round of mental gymnastics. Happy Connection!

Netflix Tudum 2025: Full list of shows, games expected

Netflix is counting on devoted fans of "Stranger Things," "Squid Game" and "Wednesday" to tune in to its streaming service Saturday night. But they won't log in to see new episodes of those most popular shows. Instead, viewers will be greeted with sneak peeks and cast reunions, as part of Tudum, an occasional in-person marketing event for Netflix that the company has turned into a streamed variety show. Think marketing as entertainment. The show, expected to last from 90 to 120 minutes, will emphasize the company's three most popular series, two of which will end this year ("Squid Game" and "Stranger Things") and one that is returning ("Wednesday"). Lady Gaga will be on hand to perform a miniconcert. Her song "Bloody Mary" became a viral sensation when fans paired a version of it with a dance from "Wednesday." Lady Gaga also has a cameo on the show in Season 2. Netflix, which signed a 10-year, $5 billion deal last year for World Wrestling Entertainment's flagship show, "Raw," will bring out some WWE stars such as CM Punk and Rhea Ripley to extol their love for other Netflix content. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will promote their new film, "The Rip." Cookie Monster will make an appearance as part of Netflix's new deal to stream "Sesame Street." And AJ McLean, a member of the Backstreet Boys, will promote a new reality show, "Building the Band." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo The event illustrates Netflix's growing appetite for streaming live events. In just the past year, the company has lured giant audiences to the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, two NFL games on Christmas Day, and a roast of former quarterback Tom Brady. And it has plans to do much more. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will get a rematch in July at Madison Square Garden as part of an all-female boxing card, and the NFL will return to the service again on Christmas. Netflix's Brazilian marketing team originated the Tudum event in 2020 after seeing how active Netflix fans were at events such as Brazil Comic-Con. The first iteration pulled in about 50,000 people over four days. Netflix revived the event in 2023, after the COVID-19 pandemic subsided, luring 35,000 to the festival. The event generated more than 78 million views across the company's social channels, including a livestream on YouTube. Live Events The first two Tudum events were held in Sao Paulo in 2020 and in 2023. Thousands of Brazilians waited in line to attend those multiday events. Saturday's event, though, will be held in Los Angeles, at the Kia Forum, starting at 5 p.m. Pacific. The 9,500 tickets, which went on sale May 9 for $25 to $75, sold out in a week. What differentiates those events from Tudum 2025 is that Netflix is now eager to exploit its live capabilities. The company has teamed up with Silent House Productions, its partner on the SAG Awards and the producer of the concert film for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, to produce the event. Netflix's marketing team under Lee began planning this year's version of Tudum over a year ago, this time working closely with its content team to tailor the event to those in the stands and to those on their couches. FAQs Q1. When is Netflix Tudum 2025 ? A1. Netflix Tudum 2025 is schedule on Saturday, May 31. Q2. When did Netflix Tudum first happen? A2. The first two Tudum events were held in Sao Paulo in 2020 and in 2023.

When renowned author Dylan Thomas lost his cool over a missing paycheck

Credit: X/@POETSorg The renowned author of the 20th century, Dylan Thomas, continues to mesmerize the world with his works that are timeless and rich with vividness and passion, exploring the complexities of the human soul. Yet beyond the brilliance of his poetry lies another dimension—a man who, like all of us, grappled with his own frustrations and moments of anger. Newly uncovered photos now reveal a rare glimpse of Thomas as more than just a poetic genius, showing him as a man in a moment of personal turmoil. These images, lost in a drawer for decades, were uncovered by Dylan Thomas expert J eff Towns, who also pieced together the remarkable backstory. At the time, Thomas was working for Strand Film Company in London, writing wartime documentaries. When he showed up to collect his pay, no money was waiting for him—sparking an outburst of anger that was captured in this series of never-before-published photos. 'There's one picture of him looking immaculate [with a] big smile,' Towns told Cerys Matthews on BBC Radio 6 Music. 'No cheque and he's pulling the desk apart like a rock and roller throwing a TV out the window.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo According to Towns, the scene was documented by a quick-thinking receptionist who had witnessed the entire episode and then quietly tucked the images away. 'I got this letter out the blue from a woman who said her mother had worked at Strand Films and straight away I knew how important it was,' Towns said. The receptionist's daughter had the photos, along with a vivid recollection of that day. She shared them with Towns, who incorporated them into his new book, The Wilder Shores of Dylan Thomas. What made Thomas so furious? Towns explains that Thomas's fury that day was likely triggered by a missing paycheck. However, he also say that there must be more factors at play there. Towns believes that Thomas, who often lived hand to mouth, had reached a breaking point. 'I know that [Thomas] was forever living from hand to mouth,' he said. 'So the guy was desperate for money and obviously when he went in he thought he was going to trouser a few quid to get through the next few days. Even just to get to the pub that night. When it wasn't there, he flipped.' Towns explained that the outburst at Strand Films was highly unusual for Thomas. 'He got into trouble when he was drunk, but he was a pacifist in his own way,' Towns said. 'He didn't fly off the handle a lot—there are a couple of times when things went a bit wrong—but by and large he was passive and talked his way out of problems.' Though he was known to enjoy a drink—particularly a bourbon called Old Grandad in America—Towns doesn't think Thomas was defined by a bad temper. 'I think he liked to be the centre of attention, in a pub he would tell great stories and people would buy him drinks, but I don't think he was known for a temper in any way,' he said. 'His wife Caitlin had the temper and she would give him a right hiding.' One step to a healthier you—join Times Health+ Yoga and feel the change
