Brighton sign Belgium defender De Cuyper
De Cuyper, 24, helped Brugge win the Belgian Pro League in 2023-24, and the Belgian Cup last season. He made his Belgium debut in June 2024, and has earned 10 international caps, scoring three goals.
"He has a great reputation for creativity and has shown his ability across different positions, although we primarily see him challenging for a left-back spot with us," Brighton coach Fabian Huerzeler said in a statement.

The American, who won the 100m butterfly earlier in the week, touched the wall in 24.83 seconds, beating Australia's Alexandria Perkins (25.31) and Belgium's Roos Vanotterdijk (25.43). Walsh said she felt 'fragile' before her 100m win after going down with a stomach bug that has swept through the American camp. She was back to full strength for the fast and furious 50m, which will become an Olympic event for the first time at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. 'I'm very proud,' said the 22-year-old Walsh. 'That was a great swim, it was great to feel like myself again in the water after kind of a rocky meet, but two-time world champion, can't complain with that.' Sweden's Sarah Sjoestroem, the world record holder and a six-time world champion in the event, is not competing in Singapore. Walsh took advantage of her absence and showed that she will be a force to reckon with in LA in three years' time. Walsh's performance also offered a riposte to swimming legends Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, who have been critical of the American team's displays in Singapore. Six-time Olympic gold medallist Lochte on Friday shared an image on Instagram depicting a funeral that featured a tombstone inscribed: 'In loving memory of United States Swimming.' Tottenham captain Son Heung-min to leave club after decade, hints at MLS move
SEOUL, Aug 2 — Tottenham captain Son Heung-min said today that he will leave the club this summer after a decade in north London. The 33-year-old attacker joined the Premier League side from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and went on to play more than 450 times for Spurs. In May he lifted the Europa League trophy but he had a poor season overall by his high standards and struggled with a series of leg injuries. 'Before we start the press conference I wanted to say I have decided to leave the club this summer,' the South Korean told reporters in Seoul, where Tottenham are on a pre-season tour. 'Respectfully the club is helping me with this decision.' Son, who has scored 173 goals for Spurs, did not say where he intends to go next and cut an emotional figure. He has been linked with a move to the MLS in the United States. 'It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career. Such amazing memories. It was so hard to make the decision,' Son said, flanked by new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank. 'I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change -- 10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. 'I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man.' 'Winning a title in Europe felt like I had achieved everything I possibly could,' he said.
