Eastbound Hwy. 417 off-ramp to close at Bronson Ave. until November
Construction work on Highway 417 will force the closure of the eastbound ramp at Bronson Avenue this fall. According to a notice, Ontario's Ministry of Transportation has retained contractor Kiewit Dufferin Midtown Partnership (KDMP) to complete improvements to retaining walls, landscaping, drainage, concrete barrier curbs, paving and noise barrier walls along the Queensway. The Bronson Street closure will begin on Sept. 2 and is expected to reopen on Nov. 28. A detour map shows drivers will have to get off the highway at Carling and Kirkwood avenues. It's the latest ramp to close as construction work and improvements continue along the downtown Ottawa stretch of Highway 417 this summer. The westbound off-ramp at Island Park Drive and the westbound Parkdale Avenue on-ramp remain closed until Oct. 2. The westbound on-ramp at Lyon Street will be closed until November. The westbound on-ramp from southbound Pinecrest Road, the westbound off-ramp to Richmond Road, the westbound O'Connor Street on-ramp and the eastbound Parkdale Avenue off-ramp are expected to reopen this month. KDMP says it may be required to implement additional closures on Highway 417 and various adjacent city streets. 'KDMP intends to keep an open communication channel with all residents and affected agencies,' the contractor says.
