Arsenal: Mikel Arteta reveals plan for Max Dowman as 15-year-old dazzles again in pre-season
Dowman has impressed in Arsenal's friendlies this summer, despite being just 15 years old.
The winger caught the eye again on Wednesday evening, coming off the bench and winning a penalty as Arsenal lost 3-2 to Villarreal in a friendly.
Dowman looks like he could make his first-team debut this season after performing well this summer, but Arteta has explained he will have a break first.
'Let's see how it goes,' said Arteta, when asked about Dowman getting minutes in the Premier League this season.
'Let's go into Saturday, into the break as well. He needs a little break as well, because he hasn't had any holidays, really.
'So, in the next few days, he's going to have a break, which I think he needs. And then, following the week, he'll be ready again to go.
'He continues to impress, without a doubt. The impact he had in the game again today, the efficiency that he shows in every attacking action, it's incredible. Again, he deserves to have chances, and if he continues like this, let's see what happens.
Arteta went on, adding that Dowman's team-mates already look to him as a game-changer.
'I think the reaction [of his team-mates] is very clear. They have the ball and they give it to him!
'So, that tells you how much they trust him and I think the relationship he's building within the team. So, I think nothing better than that.
'The confidence they show to make things happen, and the constant connection that they have with him.
'With Max it's been so fast. Even last year when he was training with us, he was doing this kind of thing in training and now he's doing it in the game consistently.
'So the three or four games that he's played, he's managed to impact and have big moments in the game. Great.'

France started to throw the ball around, with half-backs Carla Arbez and Alexandra Chambon both making dangerous breaks and as the England scrum came under pressure, the visitors were starved of meaningful possession. But catch and drive did the trick once again with six minutes remaining for replacement hooker Lark Atkin-Davies to go over, and she added a second three minutes later to allow Harrison to take her tally to 10 points with two more successful kicks. Wolves learn how much they must pay for Nantes striker Matthis Abline
Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Nantes striker Matthis Abline. The Midlands outfit want to bring in a replacement for Matheus Cunha, who has left to join Manchester United for £62.5 million. Abline appears to be a good option for Wolves, but Nantes are demanding a £43.3m fee for the 22-year-old, per Sunday Mirror (August 10, Page 71). Ligue 1 club Paris FC submitted a £21.65m offer but that was turned down by their French counterparts. Nantes are looking to drive an auction, with Eintracht Frankfurt also keen on the player. Abline is a versatile forward who mainly plays as a striker but can also operate on the wings. He previously played for Stade Rennais before joining Nantes in 2023, initially on loan that was later made permanent. The Frenchman has scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 60 appearances in all competitions for the Canaries. Abline has proven his skills in France and can also be a success in the Premier League. But it remains to be seen whether Wolves will fork out a £43.3m fee for the 22-year-old. Vitor Pereira's side have lost several key players in the 2025 summer transfer window. Cunha went to Man Utd, while Rayan Ait-Nouri left to join Manchester City. Goncalo Guedes was sold to Real Sociedad, and Nelson Semedo departed the Molineux Stadium on a free transfer. Wolves have added Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias and David Moller Wolfe, but they still need reinforcements. Strasbourg sign Danish centre-back Lucas Hogsberg
RC Strasbourg Alsace have added some more youthfulness to their backline with Lucas Hogsberg (19) signing on Saturday. The club officially announced his arrival, with the 19-year-old joining from Danish Superliga side Nordsjælland, with the youngster committing to the Alsatian club until 2030. Hogsberg had generated plenty of interest from clubs outside Denmark this year, with Serie A side Como 1907 reportedly making him an offer for €10m in January, an offer which the Danish club rejected. The fee to bring him over to Strasbourg is estimated to be around €15m, according to which does not include bonuses. He's the fourth centre-back that Le Racing have signed this summer, with the other being Mamdou Sarr (19) on loan from Chelsea, plus Andrew Omobamidele (23), who made a permanent move in June and Soumaïla Coulibaly (21), who made a four-year commitment in July. Hogsberg came to Nordsjælland when he was only three, playing his first professional match at the club when he turned 16.
