Jamaliah hinted at the possibility of celebrating this joy more openly and grandly with friends and acquaintances in the future.

Tengku Zafrul dismisses by-election rumours after Umno exit
KUALA LUMPUR: Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has dismissed speculation linking him to a potential candidacy in any upcoming by-election, whether at federal or state level, following his decision to leave Umno and apply to join PKR. The investment, trade and industry minister said he does not support the idea of triggering by-elections unnecessarily, as doing so would cost the people valuable time and public funds. "I wish to clarify that no such discussions (participation in by-elections) have ever taken place, and this was not part of my consideration in making this decision. "I fundamentally disagree with the idea of triggering by-elections without pressing necessity, as they also involve the time and money of the people," he said in a Facebook post. Tengku Zafrul said he would continue to serve in his role as a senator until the end of his term in December 2025. "As for my position as a minister, I leave this entirely to the discretion of the prime minister. I am always ready to serve the country in any capacity. "I left the corporate world with the intention of serving, and as long as my service is needed, I am willing to contribute without the need for any position." He also said that his decision to withdraw from Umno and submit an application to join PKR was a personal choice made without coercion. "I admit, it was not an easy decision, but I have considered all views and opinions given to me very carefully. "In a society that practises democracy, every individual has the right to make personal choices, and I truly appreciate all the views and acceptance of this decision." Tengku Zafrul also extended his appreciation to the Umno leadership and grassroots, particularly the Kota Raja division, for their support during his time in the party. On May 30, Tengku Zafrul announced his resignation from all posts in Umno, including his party membership. He has also expressed his intention to join PKR. He said, after much self-reflection and consideration of various factors, he decided to do so due to "compatibility and suitability." Tengku Zafrul is currently serving his second term in the Dewan Negara. Some Umno leaders have criticised Tengku Zafrul for quitting the party with the intention to join another party within the unity coalition. PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh has said that the party will take into account various views, including that of its partners in the unity government, in deciding on Tengku Zafrul's membership application.

DAP's Bandar Utama rep Jamaliah Jamaluddin announces marriage to long-time partner
KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin today announced that she has tied the knot. The Selangor executive councillor for public health and environment said she had married her partner whose name she gave only as 'Joshua' in a private ceremony. 'With great gratitude to Allah SWT, I would like to share one happy news that is very personal to me — Alhamdulillah with His permission, my spouse and I have safely married yesterday,' the DAP state lawmaker wrote in a Facebook post this morning. Jamaliah said the wedding was held in a 'small and intimate setting' attended by immediate family members and close friends who had known the couple since their secondary school days. 'The decision was made based on discussions with family, and in respect of the family's request to focus on the wisdom of the marriage bond itself.' She added that Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari – her former 'boss' who had also 'once mentored my husband while undergoing industry training' – and Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin were among those present for the marriage ceremony. Jamaliah also apologised to those who might feel left out of the quiet ceremony. 'Humbly, I apologise if this decision creates a feeling of disregard or displeasure to any party. 'It was not an easy decision, apart from friends and family members, I know many of the members and party leaders also always pray and expect the best for me,' she posted. She said the ceremony was made with 'great care' and guided by the agreement of both families. 'InshaAllah, my partner and I hope there will be another space and time to celebrate this happiness together with friends and acquaintances in a more open and lively atmosphere.'
