Hyderabad: The Telangana fire disaster response, emergency and civil defence department on Monday launched operations at a new Fire Command and Control Centre, aiming to revolutionise fire management, enhance public safety, and expedite building plan approvals across the state.
As part of the initiative, an AI-powered software system named the 'Auto Drawing Scrutiny System' was also unveiled, claimed to be the first-of-its-kind in India's firefighting domain. The state-of-the-art control centre features a sophisticated video wall system, intelligent video wall controllers, and a computer-aided dispatch system. Designed for real-time emergency monitoring and response, it enables seamless integration of multiple data sources, improving situational awareness for emergency personnel.
It has been integrated with the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of the police, enabling real-time data sharing and coordinated multi-agency responses. The system facilitates collaboration between departments such as the police, GHMC, electricity board, and HMWS&SB, helping to minimise communication delays, support better decision-making, and ensure quicker and more effective emergency responses.
Meanwhile, the department introduced the AI-powered Auto Drawing Scrutiny System, aimed at automating the review of fire safety diagrams submitted during building approval processes. Developed in collaboration with IT&EC, TGTS, and CGG departments, the software performs both value-based and positional checks, ensuring fire safety drawings meet regulatory standards with consistency and precision.

CM Revanth calls for iconic gateway at Kothwalguda, fast-tracks Musi riverfront
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday instructed officials to construct an iconic landmark at Kothwalguda Junction, on the lines of India Gate, Gateway of India and Charminar, as part of the Musi Riverfront Development Project. Chairing a review meeting with officials from the Municipal Administration department at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC), Revanth instructed acceleration of the Musi project, spanning from Himayathsagar to Gandhi Sarovar. Reviewing the progress of the Mir Alam Tank development works, the chief minister instructed officials to ensure that the sewage treatment plants (STPs) installed near the tank operate at full capacity. Stressing the need to make Hyderabad an ecofriendly city, Revanth said, 'People in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai are facing problems due to increased pollution. Such a situation should not arise in Hyderabad.'

Convention centre plan may be shelved
T'puram: The ambitious International Convention Centre Complex (ICCC) proposed at Akkulam may be shelved yet again as key proceedings on the project have come to a grinding halt. Despite renewed efforts by the tourism department to revive the initiative, delays in securing concurrence from IT department have stalled the land transfer critical to its execution. However, the local legislator said that state govt had no plans to revive it. "I was not even aware that active work was ongoing. As far as I know, this is an old project and govt has no plans to revive it," said Kadakampally Surendran, the local MLA and former tourism minister. His remark reflects growing confusion and inaction around a project that once promised to transform the capital into a hub for MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism. In sharp contrast to Surendran's statement, tourism department officials maintain that the project was recently reactivated, with efforts made to transfer 49 acres from Technopark to the department. The multi-crore ICCC project — originally conceived over a decade ago — comprises a 1,500-seat convention hall, a hotel, exhibition spaces and even a marina, implemented under a public-private partnership model. A revised detailed project report was prepared in 2019 and major infrastructure player K Raheja Corp showed fresh interest in taking it forward. However, delays on the part of IT department, which oversees Technopark, have caused a bottleneck. Seeram Sambasiva Rao, IT secretary and Technopark executive council chairperson, responded to the matter saying, "I had not seen the file on land transfer. I will check on the technical clearance and expedite it as needed."

Chandigarh: For two weeks, traffic violators had free run as CCTVs didn't generate challans
For over two weeks, traffic violators in Chandigarh had a free run as the integrated command and control centre (ICCC) cameras stopped issuing challans from June 25 to July 10 due to a payment issue between the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the company operating the system. Under Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL), BEL was awarded a contract to operate ICCC services, including cameras and their software. (HT File) Sources revealed that the MC owes BEL a whopping ₹20 crore. The city has over 2,000 cameras, including those monitoring traffic violations, city's entry-exit points, schools, hospitals, parking lots, and community centres, connected to the ICCC. On an average, the ICCC cameras record and issue around 1,800 challans a day for speeding, red-light jumping, and other violations. The non-functional challan system created a backlog of nearly 25,000 pending traffic fines, which are now being uploaded on the National Informatics Centre (NIC) platform in bulk. 'The cameras were operational and recorded violations during this period, but no automated challans were generated due to the suspension of services. Now, these pending challans are being uploaded together,' confirmed an official familiar with the matter. There is a 15-day limit to issue challans by uploading the data on NIC based on recorded footage. Any violation recorded after this period cannot be legally challaned. In the last 15 days, no challans have been issued, leading to thousands of violations going unchecked. Why the shutdown happened Under Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL), BEL was awarded a contract to operate ICCC services, including cameras and their software. BEL was to receive ₹1 crore every month for operations and maintenance. However, after the administration dissolved CSCL on March 31, its projects were redistributed among various departments, with ICCC being handed over to the MC. The corporation is yet to clear BEL's dues for the past 12 months, amounting to ₹12 crore in operational payments, ₹7 crore as capital expenditure for material installation, and an additional ₹60 lakh for police station camera surveillance. As a result, BEL had stopped its services from June 25, effectively suspending ICCC's software and shutting down access to the app, which powers the Police Command Control Centre (PCCC). The ICCC project is slated to run until 2027. The MC is currently verifying bills submitted by the company before them.
