Robbie Ouzts proved need for FB in Seahawks offense
When the Seattle Seahawks hired Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator, the need for a fullback on the roster became evident. Kubiak had routinely employed a lead blocker in his previous NFL offenses. The Seahawks considered adding a veteran option, but ultimately found their solution in the unlikeliest of places. John Schneider drafted former Alabama tight end Robbie Ouzts and converted him to a fullback.
And in Seattle's first preseason contest, a 23-23 tie with the Las Vegas Raiders, Ouzts immediately proved his worth to the offense. Ouzts made an impact both as a pass catcher and run blocker. The former TE showcased his soft mitts on this 17-yard gain out of the backfield.
The Seahawks opened the scoring via an explosive 24-yard touchdown run by running back George Holani. Ouzts threw a key block at the line of scrimmage, washing safety Chris Smith II out of the play on 3rd-and-1.
It was a highlight-worthy block for Ouzts in his exhibition debut.

The Seahawks explored various avenues to address their need for a fullback. Ouzts was an extremely creative solution to the problem. Ouzts preseason debut indicated the Seahawks have a potential gem at a keynote position in Kubiak's offense.

Former Georgia WR, Super Bowl hero named as NFL player that should be cut
NFL teams have to make numerous difficult roster decisions ahead of the start of the 2025 season. Over 1,000 players are cut ahead of the NFL's roster deadline, which will be on Aug. 27. Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Mecole Hardman is one of the many NFL players on the roster bubble. Hardman still has good speed and is now with the Green Bay Packers, who have a deep, receiving room that lacks top-end talent. Hardman had a tough preseason debut with Green Bay. He muffed a punt and dropped a pass on his only target in the Packers' 30-10 loss to the New York Jets in preseason Week 1. After this performance, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport highlights Hardman as a player on the Packers that should be cut. "Hardman has never come especially close to living up to his draft slot (as a second-round pick)," said Davenport. "And on a Packers team loaded with young talent at wide receiver, he has no margin to make the sort of errors he made in his Green Bay debut." Fortunately for Hardman, he'll have another opportunity to prove himself in preseason Week 2 as the Packers play the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. ET. Hardman's speed and versatility as a return man give him a decent chance to make the Packers, but his production has significantly declined in recent seasons. Hardman caught the Kansas City Chiefs' game-winning touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl 58. He hasn't caught another receiving touchdown since then. Last season, he posted 12 receptions for 90 yards and five rushes for 62 yards and one rushing touchdown with the Chiefs. He also added 20 punt returns for 203 yards and five kickoff returns for 132 yards in 12 games played. Follow UGAWire on Instagram or Threads.

Ian Wheeler is someone for Chicago Bears to keep an eye on as camp moves forward
Camp is moving slowly but surely for the Chicago Bears. Ian Wheeler is one of the players to keep an eye on as things progress. Last summer, Chicago Bears running back Ian Wheeler captured the attention of fans of HBO's "Hard Knocks" with his heartwarming story. He put his medical school career on pause to pursue his lifelong dream to play in the NFL. Wheeler's impressive speed and playmaking ability made him a dark horse contender for a roster spot. But that all came crashing down when he suffered a torn ACL in the preseason finale. "Hard Knocks" captured the moment his mother consoled him after the game, which tugged at the heartstrings of fans across the globe. While Wheeler's rookie season was over before it even started, he remained with the team as he rehabbed back from his injury. Now, roughly one yea alter, Wheeler is back making plays on the practice field in training camp. In last Sunday's preseason debut against the Miami Dolphins, Wheeler had seven carries for 20 yards. The only problem was that he had a touchdown run negated by a formation penalty on the offense. On the touchdown that didn't count, Wheeler showed exactly what makes him special, which is his tenacity combined with his speed. If Wheeler ever gets a chance to play in a regular-season game, which is certainly possible at this stage of the game, you may see what he looks like with a real offensive line in front of him. Wheeler is an easy guy to root for, whether it's his talent, his medical school journey, his comeback story or the fact that he's just an incredible human being. Keep an eye on him as training camp and preseason progress, as he may be someone who can help the Bears win football games. Follow Bears Wire on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
