Horse racing tips: Tuesday April 29
There are four horse racing meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland today.
In the afternoon, there's Flat action to enjoy from Nottingham (2.08-5.38pm) and Brighton (2.20-5.45), as well as jump racing from the opening day of the Punchestown Festival (2.30-6.35). Rounding off proceedings is an all-weather Flat card from Wolverhampton (5.53-9.00).
Our nap of the day comes from the final race of the meeting at the West Midlands course, where we fancy Pessoa.

9.00, Wolverhampton – Class 6 Handicap (7f)
The six-year-old PESSOA is very familiar with the all-weather track at Dunstall Park, having raced here on 23 of his 37 career runs.
That includes each of his last 10 outings and his most recent victory came over course and distance in March, when today's jockey Finley Marsh was in the saddle. He followed that up with a good second over an extended mile at the same venue.
That win on his penultimate start was the fifth of Pessoa's career, all of them at Wolverhampton and four over today's 7f trip. Despite a 1lb rise, Adrian Wintle's horse looks sure to be in contention.

Storm brews at Epsom over the 150-1 Derby outsider and his genius owner who wins millions with bargain horses
He is one of the sharpest operators in the game AL THE RAGE Storm brews at Epsom over the 150-1 Derby outsider and his genius owner who wins millions with bargain horses Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THERE is a storm brewing at Epsom - and not just with the weather. While the rain is set to pour on the Downs - and thunder and hail are forecast - there could be a tornado on the track. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Super shrewd owner Ahmad Al Shaikh has won a fortune from his bargain runners in the Derby - and he has another 150-1 outsider primed to strike this year Credit: PA Al Wasl Storm is the 150-1 outsider bookies are giving no hope in hell of winning the world's most prestigious Flat race. But his owner Ahmad Al Shaikh, a Dubai businessman who loves staying horses, knows exactly what it takes to plunder huge cheques with bargain basement horses. And he's done it loads before in the Derby. Hoo Ya Mal was a 150-1 runner-up in 2022 - his valiant second securing his owner a cheque for £350,000 before he sold him to Australia for £1.2million. A blinding bit of business as the horse has never bettered that second-place finish. Khalifa Sat was second two years before that at whopping odds of 50-1, landing Al Shaikh a cheque for just north of £100,000. When 25-1 Deira Mile and 50-1 Sayedaty Sadaty were fourth and fifth respectively last year, the gravelly-voiced Al Shaikh left Epsom a staggering £125,000 better off. In a world where horses are routinely sold for seven figures, Al Shaikh refuses to ever spend more than £80,000 - even though he and his Green Team operation have combined to win over £1m in recent years. For every purchase, he goes through their pedigrees himself (paying particular attention to the third dam) making sure they match what he likes. Which brings us back to Al Wasl Storm. Trained by Owen Burrows, the three-year-old colt was bought for just £5,900 at the sales in November 2022. He was dead last on debut at Newbury in April then came second to fellow Derby runner Rogue Impact at Lingfield. His last run was his best, winning over the 1m4f Derby trip at Chester and staying on well to the line. The £20,616 Al Shaikh, under the Green Team banner, pocketed there was nice. But it's an amazing £900,000 for winning the Derby - and the potential in stud fees as a result is practically unlimited. As an example, former Derby winner Galileo was rumoured to charge £600,000 a cover at stud before he died. So while the likes of Aidan O'Brien's Delacroix and Charlie Appleby's Ruling Court head the market, if you fancy one at a price keep looking further and further down the racecard. All the way to 150-1, where you find Al Wasl Storm. History shows he is bound to outrun his odds. Teenage star Billy Loughnane gets first ride in £1.5m Derby on huge outsider
The 19-year-old rising talent has been booked to partner the Charlie Johnston-trained Green Storm at Epsom on Saturday, one of two runners for the Yorkshire trainer Teenage talent Billy Loughnane is to make his debut in the £1.5 million Betfred Derby on a huge outsider. The 19-year-old has been on the path to stardom ever since he burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old. He claimed the apprentice championship in 2023, finished fourth in the senior Flat jockeys' championship in 2024 and earlier this year was crowned champion all-weather jockey. Loughnane ranks fourth in the 2025 title race with 16 wins, despite missing a significant chunk of the campaign due to suspension. Last summer he rode two winners at Royal Ascot and will have his first start in Saturday's Derby on the Charlie Johnston-trained Green Storm. He will be the same age as Walter Swinburn, Mickael Barzalana and Joseph O'Brien who each won the Derby as 19-year-olds. Green Storm recorded his only victory under Loughnane, winning a Yarmouth maiden by nine and a half lengths. Although he is a 200-1 chance, he is owned by Derby fanatic Ahmad Al Shaikh, whose Hoo Ya Mal finished runner-up at odds of 150-1 in the 2022 Derby. Al Shaikh also runs Al Wasl Storm while Johnston could also saddle 100-1 chance and Chester Vase second Lazy Griff (Christophe Soumillon) if the ground is satisfactory. Johnston said: 'I think Green Storm has been running here since the hammer fell in Goffs about 20 months ago. It's been the plan for a while. 'Billy won on him last year at Yarmouth and Ahmad was quite keen for a young and ambitious jockey to be in the saddle. 'He's only had 11 rides at Epsom so he's maybe not got quite the experience of a few of the others in there but I'm sure it's something he will be getting plenty of in the years to come.' Johnston will be saddling his first runners since he took over the training licence on his own after working jointly with his father Mark. Their best Derby finish together was with Dubai Mile, who was ninth in 2023. 'Although they are two outsiders, one is a Group 1 placed two-year-old and the other was a good second in an obvious trial and both warrant being there,' Johnston added. 'Lazy Griff is a little bit ground dependent. He will be looking for as much of the forecast rain as possible. If there is any good to firm he will probably bypass it. 'Green Storm will need to settle better than he did in the Feilden Stakes so the initial stages of the race will be key for him. I'm confident Lazy Griff has the requisite class to be in a race like this.'
