Juventus announced Francisco Conceiçao had suffered a hamstring injury, and Italian media claim the Portuguese winger will remain out of action for ten days.
The Porto loanee won't be available for tonight's Serie A clash against Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium.
He had suffered an injury in training last week and underwent medical tests on Monday.
'Francisco Conceiçao, following muscle discomfort felt in his right thigh, underwent radiological examinations at J|Medical this morning,' Juventus said in a statement.
'The examinations showed an elongation of the hamstring.'
Conceiçao is one of the seven injured Juventus players for tonight's game against Verona.
Juventus expert Romeo Agresti reports Conceiçao will remain out of action for circa ten days, missing next Sunday's home game against Atalanta as well.
The list of absentees for the Verona game doesn't include French defender Pierre Kalulu, who is expected to start on the bench against the Gialloblu.
Conceiçao has made 18 Serie A appearances this term, totalling 1,009 minutes in league games. He has five goals and five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Sundowns must adapt to less possession, warns coach Cardoso

South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, a team used to dominating possession, may have their time with the ball considerably reduced at the Club World Cup, says coach Miguel Cardoso. The Pretoria outfit are outsiders in Group F with Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund expected to advance to the knockout phase in the United States at the expense of Sundowns and South Korean side Ulsan. Advertisement "We are used to controlling matches in the South African league," the 53-year-old Portuguese said of a club that recently won the national championship an eighth consecutive time. "Our possession can be 70 percent, sometimes even more," he told the South African media before departing for North America with a 26-strong squad. "Now we must prepare mentally to adapt to situations where our opponents will have the majority of possession. I doubt we will be able to control games like we regularly do in South Africa." Cardoso picked out Dortmund as a team to present a different type of challenge from the opposition Sundowns are used to at home and in Africa. Advertisement "Dortmund play a very high tempo, aggressive style, which is typical of German football," said the coach, who has worked in Portugal, Ukraine, France, Spain and Greece. Cardoso moved to Africa in 2024, winning the Tunisian title with Esperance and taking them to the CAF Champions League final, which they lost to Al Ahly of Egypt. Sundowns, Ahly, Esperance and Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca, who have won 20 continental Champions League titles between them, are the African representatives at the revamped 32-team Club World Cup from June 14. Sacked by Esperance last year following indifferent domestic form, the Portuguese was hired by Sundowns after they axed local coach Manqoba Mngqithi having lost to minnows Magesi in a knockout competition final. Advertisement - 'Our Lionel Messi' - Cardoso took Sundowns to the league title, but a surprise FA Cup semi-final loss to Kaizer Chiefs dashed hopes of a South African double. An even bigger disappointment came in the Champions League, where Sundowns eliminated Esperance and Ahly only to lose the final to Pyramids, an Egyptian club competing for only the second time. "The belief that African clubs lack organisation, especially when defending, is untrue," insists Cardoso. But it was a series of defensive blunders against Pyramids in Pretoria and Cairo that cost Sundowns a chance to win the Champions League a second time after their 2016 triumph. Advertisement Slack marking allowed Pyramids to snatch an added-time equaliser in South Africa, and a weak clearance and more poor marking led to the goals that gave the Egyptians a 2-1 second-leg victory. Cardoso has chosen a squad including 20 South Africans, two Brazilians, a Chilean, a Ugandan, a Zimbabwean and a Namibian. Reserve goalkeeper Denis Onyango from Uganda is the oldest at 40 and South African winger Kutlwano Letlhaku the youngest at 19. First choice shot stopper Ronwen Williams saved four penalties in a 2024 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final shootout against Cape Verde. Khuliso Mudau is a polished full-back, Teboho Mokoena an aggressive midfielder with a powerful shot and Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro won the South African league's Golden Boot last season with 16 goals. Advertisement But a lot of South African attention at the Club World Cup will centre on a midfielder who did not feature in the Champions League title decider, 35-year-old Themba Zwane. Former Sundowns star Joel Masilela was furious at the exclusion of Zwane. "He is our Lionel Messi and should have started or come off the bench," Masilela said. "Cardoso cost us a Champions League title." dl/iwd/pb

Valkyrie bring in French international Sarah Menaa to bolster ranks

YORK Valkyrie have added French international Sarah Menaa to their ranks. Menaa joins the Valkyrie for the remainder of the 2025 season, having made the switch from Catalans Goddesses. The 21-year-old has been a part of the Catalans team that won the French Championships on three different occasions, whilst also being capped four times for the France national team. Advertisement Menaa is able to operate at either prop or in the second-row, and has been described as both a strong attacker and defender, arriving into York with a reputation of being a highly-skilled player. Menaa commented after her move to the Valkyrie was announced: 'I'm really excited to come to York and to have the opportunity to play in the Super League. 'It's a huge challenge for me, and I'll give everything I have to help the Valkyries go all the way!" Valkyrie's Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield added: 'Sarah is a hard hitting middle who has good ball handling skills, as well as enjoying the contact aspect of the game. Advertisement 'She has a wealth of experience playing rugby league for Catalans and for the French national team, and I think she will thrive in our environment. 'In the past we have had training camps in Perpignan where Sarah has trained with us and shown she has the talent to be competitive in our league. 'Competition for shirts is what we need going into this next stage of the season, and we look forward to seeing what she can do in Valk colours.' Menaa could make her debut for York in Saturday's game at Leigh Leopards' Golborne Parkside (2pm), with her arrival coming at a good time for the Valkyrie, who announced on social media last night that first-team options Kelsey Gentles and Jess Sharp have left the club. Advertisement Sharp has since been announced as a Leeds Rhinos player, having won York's Young Player of the Year for the 2024 season. Gentles' exit comes as a surprise after initially joining the club in 2021, having also scored a try in the last season's Women's Super League Grand Final for the Valkyrie.

The FIFA Club World Cup begins this week as the expanded tournament takes to the United States this summer. FIFA's relaunch of the competition offers intrigue and there's plenty of talent on show. Ahead of the first fixture this weekend, we've picked out five exciting young talents to watch. Club World Cup: Five exciting young talents to watch Estevao Willian – Palmeiras Estevao Willian will head to Europe after the tournament having agreed to sign for Chelsea last year. The 18-year-old is regarded as one of South America's biggest talents and will hope to wave farewell to Palmeiras with a strong summer. Advertisement At just 16, he helped the Brazilian side to a Serie A league title in 2023 and was named the best player in the league in 2024. Excitement levels around Estevao are understandably high and he is targeting a breakout tournament on the world stage. Rodrigo Mora – Porto Rodrigo Mora's step up into the senior side at Porto has been a seamless transition. The teenager was the top scorer in the UEFA Youth League in 2023/24, before leading last summer's u-17 European Championship for goals. Handed his first-team chance, Mora took it with both hands. Advertisement The attacking midfielder scored 10 goals and created four more in the Primeira Liga, despite starting just 16 times for Porto. Plenty of eyes will be on the 18-year-old this summer. He looks likely to bank one of Europe's best selling clubs a windfall in the near future. Wesley – Flamengo Wesley continues to be touted with a move to Europe and a strong Club World Cup could consolidate interest in the defender. A traditional Brazilian full-back with a desire to join the attack, the 21-year-old has racked up 130 senior appearances for Flamengo and made his senior debut for Brazil earlier this year. In 2024, he was named in the Team of the Year for both the Brasileirão and Copa do Brasil. Franco Mastantuono – River Plate Real Madrid have won a transfer tug-of-war with Paris Saint-Germain to land Franco Mastantuno, another South American starlet set for Europe after the tournament. Advertisement The 17-year-old broke into the River Plate team last year and has continued to thrive for the Buenos Aires giants. This season, he's scored seven times in 20 appearances, including a fantastic free-kick in the Superclásico against Boca Juniors. He became the youngest River player ever to score in the fixture and will soon link up with a superstar cast of talent in Madrid. Kenan Yildiz – Juventus Kenan Yildiz came of age in a Juventus shirt last season with the playmaker a positive in an up-and-down campaign for the Turin side.
