Travis Hunter adds another major Big 12 award as NFL training camp begins
After being nominated for the Big 12 Conference's Athlete of the Year award, the conference awarded Hunter the award on Thursday morning.
The award comes as no surprise, considering Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy and several other national honors, including the Biletnikoff Award (best receiver), Bednarik Award (best defensive player) and the Walter Camp Award (best player).
In the Big 12, Hunter was also named the Defensive Player of the Year and the Big 12 Player of the Year.
Hunter's stats speak for themselves. On offense, he racked up 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 16 total touchdowns. Defensively, Hunter covered the opposing team's top receiver while recording 36 total tackles, four interceptions and 11 pass breakups.
The former Colorado star now enters his first NFL training camp, where he is attempting to prove once again that he can play at an elite level at cornerback and wide receiver.

Prayers Pouring In For Deion Sanders Heading Into Monday
Prayers Pouring In For Deion Sanders Heading Into Monday originally appeared on The Spun. Prayers are pouring in for Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders heading into Monday. Coach Prime, heading into Year 3 of his tenure with the Colorado Buffaloes, is facing some health issues. Coach Prime, who almost lost his leg due to an infection, has undergone several surgeries over the years. He's had to have toes amputated, as well. On Monday, Coach Prime is scheduled to hold a press conference, with his medical team joining him. It's unclear why his medical team is joining him, though it's safe to assume that there will be some kind of health announcement made on Monday. Prayers are pouring in for Coach Prime heading into Monday afternoon's press conference. Sanders and his medical team will be holding a press conference on Monday. The event is expected to 'provide general and team updates.' "Colorado says Deion Sanders will hold his first fall camp press conference on Monday, and the event will include Sanders' medical team," The Athletic's Chris Vannini shared on X. Coach Prime has brushed off questions about his medical status in the past. "I'm already back," the 57-year-old told ESPN on July 9, at Big 12 Media Days. "I'm here today. I'm handling my responsibilities. So, I look forward to it. I can't wait. You've got to understand, some of the young (players) I haven't even met yet. I'm so excited about that." Sanders had previously said in a video shared by his son, Deion Jr., that he hasn't fully recovered from whatever medical issues he has been dealing with. 'You know I'm still going through something. . . . I ain't all the way recovered," Deion Sanders said. Our thoughts are with Coach Prime and his friends and family members as he deals with his ongoing health issues. We hope that it's nothing too serious.
