"Really tough day" for Fabio Quartararo as Yamaha struggles at Aragon MotoGP

The low-grip Aragon track was a prime suspect to expose the deficiencies of Yamaha's YZR-M1 machine and unfortunately for Fabio Quartararo and the Japanese manufacturer the issue was in the spotlight. There was no shortage of sympathy for the luckless Frenchman whose Yamaha machine snapped and jumped seemingly on the exit of every corner around the track during Friday practice. Advertisement To add insult to injury, Quartararo's Yamaha was joint-slowest through the speed trap, almost 10 km/h (6 mph) slower than Brad Binder's KTM. The inability to put power down on the tarmac was undoubtedly a key factor in the speed difference. With frantic gesticulation while out on track, it was clear that Quartararo wasn't pleased. He left the garage as soon as the session was over, preferring to cool down before he dived into the debriefs. At least Quartararo could see the funny side when he spoke to the media, as he hops from one end of the grid to the other this weekend. 'We almost made the pole position on the other side [at the back of the grid],' joked the Frenchman initially. 'A really, really tough day especially with the soft tyre. We don't understand what really happened with electronics and stuff but not the best day and especially [since] we don't understand why. 'The problem is that you never know when to expect it and in our case, it is not the best when you are on the bike fully in angle and you never know if you're going to lose it on the edge or on the exit and I didn't make any lap. The four laps I did was all cutting and making mistakes so we will have to find a solution.' 'The set-up is good," said the 2021 MotoGP champion. "We have to just understand why when we change rubber it completely changes our bike, and our electronics become crazy.' Yamaha team director Massimo Meregalli was equally disappointed in the session understanding the problem suffered by his riders as Quartararo and Alex Rins finished the Friday in 18th and 15th respectively. 'They are suffering the same problem, it's the rear grip,' Meregalli said. 'They are losing the rear a lot. Every time they try, they lose the rear. So they have to try to understand how to at least reduce the slide and improve the performance. Honestly I did not hear any comment because Fabio left to go and get changed but I think it was very easy to understand.' There's a lot of work for the Yamaha team tonight to go over the data to see why the soft tyre is causing so many problems. Quartararo will be praying they find a golden fix for the bike's woes. Yamaha Rightwaters and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust Expand Partnership to Advance Critical Marine Research and Habitat Restoration

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yamaha Rightwaters™ deepened its commitment to marine conservation by renewing its partnership with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust ® (BTT) through a three-year agreement focused on protecting and restoring critical fisheries and habitats. The expanded relationship advances science-based initiatives, including mapping juvenile tarpon habitats, designing nursery habitats and restoring critical ecosystems in decline. Yamaha Rightwaters continues as the "Official Outboard of the Trust" and has the opportunity to name one of the organization's ongoing habitat restoration programs this year. In addition, the renewed agreement recognizes Yamaha Rightwaters as a Platinum Partner. Yamaha will provide outboards for the three boats featured in BTT's 2025 Florida Boat Sweepstakes, which supports BTT's critical work to improve water quality in Florida and ensure healthy habitats and effective fisheries management. "Partnering with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust allows us to take direct action to protect marine ecosystems and support the future of recreational fishing," said Joshua Grier, sustainability program manager, Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit. "By investing in scientific research and habitat restoration, we help ensure healthy marine environments and our industry can thrive together." BTT's Tarpon Acoustic Tagging Project, also supported by Yamaha Rightwaters, tagged 200 migratory fish. The data collected helps pinpoint key areas for conservation and habitat restoration, guiding future projects and resource allocation. BTT also reached its five-year goal to plant 100,000 mangroves in the Northern Bahamas to help restore the coastal ecosystem and strengthen marine biodiversity. In addition, support from Yamaha Rightwaters helped expand BTT's educational outreach in Belize, which engaged 5,000 students and 400 teachers in 2024. These programs teach participants about environmental stewardship and the importance of research in sustaining healthy fisheries and marine habitats. "Yamaha Rightwaters is a leader in the restoration and stewardship of our marine environment," said Jim McDuffie, President and CEO of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust. 'We value Yamaha's partnership and appreciate their generous support, which powers our science-based mission to restore critical habitats and engage communities in protecting flats fisheries essential to coastal economies and ecosystems.' Yamaha Rightwaters became an official BTT supporter in 2022, providing an outboard for the organization's bonefish spawning research vessel in the Florida Keys. In spring 2023, BTT researchers confirmed a bonefish spawning site in the Florida Keys, a key discovery for species recovery. Bonefish & Tarpon Trust's mission is to conserve bonefish, tarpon and permit—the species, their habitats and the larger fisheries they comprise. BTT pursues this mission through science-based conservation, education and advocacy across Florida, the Bahamas, Belize and Mexico, as well as coastal states from Texas to Virginia. Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Hangtown: Haiden Deegan wins

Haiden Deegan kept his perfect season alive with a sweep of the motos in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California. In 2024, Deegan swept only one round of the 11 that make up the Pro Motocross championship, but he won the title with consistently strong runs. Starting the 2025 season with four moto wins marks the first time in his career that Deegan swept rounds in back-to-back weeks. Deegan leads the Pro Motocross standings by 12 points over Jo Shimoda, and has a commanding lead of 47 points in the SuperMotocross standings that seeds the playoffs. That is nearly two full motos ahead of second-place Julien Beaumer. Shimoda stayed within striking distance of Deegan in the championship battle with second-place finishes in both motos of the opening round at Fox Raceway and this week in Hangtown. Conceding some speed and fitness to his rival, Shimoda knows where he needs improvement as the series heads into Round 3 at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, Colorado, this week. Advertisement Levi Kitchen overcame a dismal start to his Pro Motocross campaign after finishing the Fox Raceway Nationals with minimal points. He finished 10th in Moto 1 and retired with engine problems in Southern California, but peaked in the heat of Northern Cali with results of third in each moto. Beaumer started strong in Hangtown's Moto 1 before fading to eighth in the final rundown. He performed much better in the second race, finishing fourth and scoring fourth overall due to a tiebreaker. Earning the same number of points, 32, as Beaumer, Garrett Marchbanks finished one position better in Moto 1 with a seventh and one position worse in Moto 2 with a fifth, proving it is truly how one finishes in Pro Motocross that counts. Advertisement The 2025 Supercross East champion Tom Vialle crashed out of Moto 1 and, still feeling the effects of the accident, finished eighth in Moto 2 to score 14 points, resulting in an overall 17th-place finish.
