Yamaha Awards Over $400,000 in Grants to Enhance Access to Public Lands and Waters

MARIETTA, Ga., March 31, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, reinforces its commitment to outdoor recreation and conservation by awarding more than $400,000 in grants in the second half of 2024 through its Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI). For the first time, Yamaha OAI has partnered with Yamaha Rightwaters to extend its impact beyond land-based projects to include sustainable access to public waters.
"The collaboration between Yamaha's Outdoor Access Initiative and Yamaha Rightwaters represents an exciting evolution in our conservation efforts," said Steve Nessl, Yamaha Motorsports Marketing Manager. "By bridging our work across land and water, we can support more comprehensive projects, maximize resources and continue leading the way in responsible outdoor recreation."
In the latter half of 2024, Yamaha provided 20 grants for diverse projects, including trail maintenance, bridge construction, environmental education and wildlife protection. The first joint efforts between Yamaha OAI and Rightwaters include:
Memorial Foundation of Germanna Colonists (sponsored by Village Motorsports, Virginia): Grant funds and a golf car donation provided by Yamaha's Golf Car division will support the Siegen Forest trail system and public boat launch improvements.
Alabama Coastal Foundation (sponsored by Hall's Motorsports Mobile, Alabama): Funding will aid the 'Share the Beach' sea turtle monitoring and protection program on Dauphin Island.
Saint Louis School (sponsored by Hawaii Rides, Hawaii): A donated UMAX by Yamaha's Golf Car division will enhance the Palolo Stream Restoration Project, supporting environmental education and land stewardship.
Sault Ste. Snowmobile Association (sponsored by Chippewa Motors, Michigan): A grant will assist with bridge and trail repairs in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

In addition to the quarterly grant program, Yamaha contributed $25,000 to Pass It On! Outdoor Mentors, raised during Yamaha's annual pre-SHOT Show event. This organization connects youth with mentors to introduce them to hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation.

How to Apply for Yamaha OAI GrantsYamaha OAI continues to accept grant applications on a quarterly basis to support critical access and conservation projects. For second quarter of this year, public land managers, riding clubs and stewardship organizations are encouraged to apply for funding before the June 30, 2025, deadline. "Really tough day" for Fabio Quartararo as Yamaha struggles at Aragon MotoGP
The low-grip Aragon track was a prime suspect to expose the deficiencies of Yamaha's YZR-M1 machine and unfortunately for Fabio Quartararo and the Japanese manufacturer the issue was in the spotlight. There was no shortage of sympathy for the luckless Frenchman whose Yamaha machine snapped and jumped seemingly on the exit of every corner around the track during Friday practice. Advertisement To add insult to injury, Quartararo's Yamaha was joint-slowest through the speed trap, almost 10 km/h (6 mph) slower than Brad Binder's KTM. The inability to put power down on the tarmac was undoubtedly a key factor in the speed difference. With frantic gesticulation while out on track, it was clear that Quartararo wasn't pleased. He left the garage as soon as the session was over, preferring to cool down before he dived into the debriefs. At least Quartararo could see the funny side when he spoke to the media, as he hops from one end of the grid to the other this weekend. 'We almost made the pole position on the other side [at the back of the grid],' joked the Frenchman initially. 'A really, really tough day especially with the soft tyre. We don't understand what really happened with electronics and stuff but not the best day and especially [since] we don't understand why. 'The problem is that you never know when to expect it and in our case, it is not the best when you are on the bike fully in angle and you never know if you're going to lose it on the edge or on the exit and I didn't make any lap. The four laps I did was all cutting and making mistakes so we will have to find a solution.' 'The set-up is good," said the 2021 MotoGP champion. "We have to just understand why when we change rubber it completely changes our bike, and our electronics become crazy.' Yamaha team director Massimo Meregalli was equally disappointed in the session understanding the problem suffered by his riders as Quartararo and Alex Rins finished the Friday in 18th and 15th respectively. 'They are suffering the same problem, it's the rear grip,' Meregalli said. 'They are losing the rear a lot. Every time they try, they lose the rear. So they have to try to understand how to at least reduce the slide and improve the performance. Honestly I did not hear any comment because Fabio left to go and get changed but I think it was very easy to understand.' Yamaha Rightwaters and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust Expand Partnership to Advance Critical Marine Research and Habitat Restoration
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yamaha Rightwaters™ deepened its commitment to marine conservation by renewing its partnership with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust ® (BTT) through a three-year agreement focused on protecting and restoring critical fisheries and habitats. The expanded relationship advances science-based initiatives, including mapping juvenile tarpon habitats, designing nursery habitats and restoring critical ecosystems in decline. Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Hangtown: Haiden Deegan wins
Haiden Deegan kept his perfect season alive with a sweep of the motos in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California. In 2024, Deegan swept only one round of the 11 that make up the Pro Motocross championship, but he won the title with consistently strong runs. Starting the 2025 season with four moto wins marks the first time in his career that Deegan swept rounds in back-to-back weeks. Deegan leads the Pro Motocross standings by 12 points over Jo Shimoda, and has a commanding lead of 47 points in the SuperMotocross standings that seeds the playoffs. That is nearly two full motos ahead of second-place Julien Beaumer. Shimoda stayed within striking distance of Deegan in the championship battle with second-place finishes in both motos of the opening round at Fox Raceway and this week in Hangtown. Conceding some speed and fitness to his rival, Shimoda knows where he needs improvement as the series heads into Round 3 at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, Colorado, this week. He finished 10th in Moto 1 and retired with engine problems in Southern California, but peaked in the heat of Northern Cali with results of third in each moto.
