DJ Snake set for record-breaking concerts in France ahead of third album release
DJ Snake will make history on May 10 by performing back-to-back shows at two of France's biggest venues: the 80,000-seat Stade de France and the 20,000-seat Accor Arena.
The unprecedented event comes as the French-Algerian artist prepares to release his third studio album, six years after Carte Blanche.
The first event, titled The Final Show, sold out within three minutes, leading DJ Snake to book the Accor Arena for a follow-up performance the same night. Both shows highlight his global appeal, with 13 billion streams on Spotify and multiple hits like 'Lean On' and 'Let Me Love You.'
Speaking to Billboard France, DJ Snake emphasised his deep connection to Paris and his journey from local DJ to global icon. He described the concerts as a 'cultural victory' and a tribute to his roots, blending Arabic, African, and French musical influences.
Following the album release, DJ Snake plans to launch a new label to support emerging artists and also release a side project EP under his alias, The Outlaw. The EP is expected to reflect a more underground, creatively free style.
DJ Snake also acknowledged the shifting landscape of electronic music, citing rapid consumption via platforms like TikTok, and reaffirmed his commitment to creative independence and authenticity.
The two sold-out concerts mark a major milestone in his career and signal the start of a new chapter for one of France's most successful electronic music artists.

Taylor Swift's ‘Reputation' sees record-breaking streaming surge eight years after release
Taylor Swift's 2017 album Reputation has experienced a significant resurgence on Spotify, amassing 9.9 million streams in a single day—the highest since its release eight years ago. This surge follows Swift's recent acquisition of her master recordings from Shamrock Capital, granting her full ownership of her early music catalog, including Reputation. Previously, Swift had embarked on re-recording her early albums as "Taylor's Versions" to regain control over her music. However, with the purchase of her original masters, the necessity for these re-recordings has diminished. While Reputation (Taylor's Version) remains unreleased, the original album's newfound accessibility has led to renewed interest among listeners. Swift's influence in the music industry remains formidable. Her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department set streaming records, and she was named Spotify's most-streamed global artist for the second consecutive year. This continuous success ensures that both her new releases and original works, like Reputation, remain prominent in the public eye.

Banksy in Marseille
The anonymous artist has sold his artworks for millions of pounds since 2000s. PHOTO: File A new mural depicting a lighthouse by world-famous street artist Banksy has appeared on a wall in the southern French city of Marseille, with AFP confirming its location on Friday. The anonymous artist known as Banksy revealed the new work on Instagram on Thursday but its location had not been disclosed. The words "I want to be what you saw in me" are stencilled in English across the black lighthouse set against a beige stucco wall. The mural is on a quiet street near the Catalans beach not far from the city centre, according to an AFP correspondent. The lighthouse's painted shadow connects to one of the street bollards lining the sidewalk. Banksy — whose identity has not been publicly revealed — has crossed the globe for decades painting clandestine murals in public spaces, including in the occupied West Bank, London and Los Angeles. "It's fascinating that Banksy chose a city like Marseille, which has so much art, foreigners and life," said Esteban Roldan, a 42-year-old carpenter who came to see the artwork. "This is huge, Banksy in Marseille," added another local, Virginie Foucault. She said she was having lunch nearby. "I thought to myself, 'I'm not going to find it in Les Catalans,' and then, by chance — I never go there — there it is. We love it, we love it!" Banksy is best known for hard-hitting murals, often using a distinctive stencilling style, that frequently pop up on buildings and walls. In recent years, he has kept the attention of the contemporary art world with his social commentaries and causes — migrants, opposition to Brexit, denunciation of Islamist radicals - while still stirring the excitement of the moneyed art markets. The artist boasts an A-list client lineup and has sold his works for tens of millions of pounds at auction since the early 2000s. afp

‘One in a billion': French stuntwoman putting fizz into Hollywood
EPERNAY: When Sarah Lezito began messing around with motorbikes at 13 she never dreamed that one day she would become the stunt double of some of Hollywood's biggest stars. The French winemaker's daughter has stood in for Scarlett Johansson – twice – on 'Avengers 2' and 'Black Widow' and appeared in a dozen films including 'The Batman'. The 32-year-old is one of a very rare breed of motorcycle stuntwomen, with a massive social media following that helped bring her from the vineyards of France's Champagne region to Hollywood. AFP caught up with her on her own personal training track amid the otherwise tranquil vineyards near Epernay, the Champagne capital in northeast France. Barely astride her red chrome Kawasaki, she was off down the track performing stunts with disconcerting dexterity, her long brown hair trailing out of her helmet in the wind. 'This is kind of my temple,' she said after performing a series of gravity-defying tricks including standing with both feet on top of her 200-kilo (440-pound) machine and then flipping herself onto the handlebars. 'People think I'm working, but it mostly allows me to release all the pressure,' said Lezito, whose lucky charm – a plastic beaded bracelet – is wrapped around the throttle of her bike. 'Doing wheelies in a field' The woman now popularly known as the 'world stunt champion' (although there is no recognised world championship) began her acrobatics career young on the family holding near Epernay. 'I fell into stunts by watching videos,' she told AFP. 'No one in my family was in the motor sports world. My father only had an agricultural quad, not at all made for sports, but I started trying to do wheelies with it in a field.' Then she began posting her stunt videos on YouTube. But she seemed destined to follow her family into wine and viticulture until she posted a video of a medley of tricks one day in March 2013 called 'One out of Billion Girls'. 'It was thanks to this video that they noticed me,' she said. The 'they' being the team from the Hollywood blockbuster 'Avengers 2'. A few months later, she abandoned her winemaking studies to fly to South Korea to perform Johansson's stunts in the movie. Dior shows Maria Grazia Chiuri's cruise collection in Rome Because she 'adapted quickly' to stunt work, Lezito decided to go professional, appearing in several major movies, including 'Inferno', 'Millennium' and 'The Batman' with Zoe Kravitz. 'I met all the actresses I've doubled for,' she said. 30 million followers She has had her moments on some of the movies, although she insists she has never felt fear on those she does 'at home' for social media. 'I had to ride through flames for 'Bad Girl', a film which was never released. On paper, it was very simple, but I didn't have a helmet,' she recalled. And in the summer of 2023 while filming David Fincher's 'The Killer' in Paris, starring Michael Fassbender, Lezito had a severe fall. 'I flew off the motorcycle, I wasn't going very fast but fast enough to land on my head and the helmet cracked.' She ended up in the emergency room with a head injury. It 'made her think', she told AFP, and she 'decided to take a break' and put her Hollywood career on hold. Lezito now devotes herself to her social media channels, posting videos of her stunts to her more than 30 million followers – including 9.5 million on Instagram, some two million more than MotoGP star Marc Marquez. Her garage doubles as a studio, with her YouTube trophies and gifts from her fans displayed on the walls. But it is also where she gets her hands dirty repairing her fleet of roughly 10 motorcycles. 'As long as I enjoy sitting on the motorcycle, I'll keep doing this,' she said.
