Dominic Fike Trolled Sabrina Carpenter at Lollapalooza With ‘The Hate U Give' Clip
Ahead of her record-breaking performance, Dominic played a video of the multihyphenate from The Hate U Give. In the scene, her character, Hailey, makes a racially insensitive statement toward Amandla Stenberg's character, Starr.
'Starr, just pretend the ball is fried chicken,' she said in the clip, where tension heightened during a basketball game. In character, she walked back on her comment, saying, 'It's game talk.'
Fans in the crowd erupted in cheers as soon as the 'Manchild' hitmaker's face came on screen, and following the quick clip came another video of Dominic. He jokingly said, 'I'm in the fucking game, bro, it's a game,' to clarify that he was running a bit.
However, the comments section of a fan-posted video drew mixed reactions. 'Now she needs to play a clip from Euphoria lol,' one fan wrote, referring to his stint on the second season of the HBO series. Another added, 'Sabrina's fans crying in comments like it wasn't funny.'
The Sabrina fans in question chimed in, saying, 'She's acting… in a movie... who does he think cares?' and 'Now why would he do this?'
During The Hate U Give's theatrical release in 2018, Sabrina revealed what drew her to the project, which is based on Angie Thomas's novel of the same name. At the time, she told Hero magazine, 'I wanted to be a part of it in any way that I could, and I do know that it's such an important film for so many people.'
As for her role as Hailey, Sabrina knew it would spark some controversy, adding, 'For my character specifically, the reason that this character exists – who is ignorant and doesn't recognise her privilege – she exists because there are people in the world like her. That's one of the reasons we really hope that people watch it.'
During her interview for Cosmopolitan's 'The Breakdown' video series, Sabrina doubled down on that sentiment. 'I unfortunately played everyone's least favorite character,' she said, adding, 'It's one of the most incredible films I've ever gotten the chance to work on, so that was really special.'
The artists—who each have songs titled 'Mona Lisa'—have yet to comment on the situation, if at all. After Dominic performed tracks like 'Babydoll' and debuted a new song, 'All Hands on Deck,' Sabrina closed out Lolla with an iconic headlining set featuring Chicago natives, Earth, Wind and Fire.

'House of the Dragon' season 3 will be 'goddamn huge,' showrunner teases
We're used to Westeros going big, but "House of the Dragon" season 3 will be "massive," per a new production update from series creator Ryan Condal. When the "Game of Thrones" prequel series returns on HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2026, viewers will be thrown in the middle of a massive civil war between two opposing factions inside House Targaryen: Team Black (the contingent that supports Rhaenyra Targaryen as heir to the crown) versus Team Green (those that back her half-brother Aegon II Targaryen's claim to the Iron Throne). With on-location filming officially wrapped in Wales (the production will now move to in-studio sets in the U.K.), Condal gave an anticipated update on season 3 during a July 2025 episode of his podcast "The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of" with co-host David Mandel. "We're right in the middle of production. We've wrapped Wales, we're moving on to some huge things now that we've got going at the studio and then other locations that we're working on, so we've moved into that part of the schedule," Condal shared. "It gets pretty nuts here through July and August. So I will be rushing off to set tomorrow to do the beginning of some insane things that we're doing this month." He continued, "But yeah, we're right in the middle in the thick of it, and it's going great. I mean, the season is just goddamn huge. "Every day I walk around there and look at the things that we're building and the things that we're doing and the number of costumes and extras and all that ... I knew it was bigger than season 2, but I don't think I realized quite how much." Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The new episodes boasting a grander scale shouldn't come as a surprise to "House of the Dragon" fans, what with the impending succession war between Targaryen heirs Aegon and Rhaenyra all but guaranteeing plenty of big battle scenes and expensive CGI dragons. Condal also recently revealed to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the third season will see an experimental episode that will be more "conceptual" and "character-driven" installment than "HOTD" fans have seen from the HBO fantasy series so far. 'We got to have a little fun this season, and there's a conceptual episode that I'm really excited about that [Sara Hess] wrote, and that's all I'm gonna say about it," Condal revealed. "It isn't in the traditional vernacular of what we have laid out. It's very character-driven, I think it's really great and I'm really excited to see it rendered.' Ditto! Roku unveils $2.99 ad-free subscription streaming service
Roku on Tuesday announced a new ad-free streaming service for $2.99 a month, the cheapest price point in the U.S. by a major company. The new streaming service, called Howdy, has a library of thousands of titles and nearly 10,000 hours of entertainment from companies such as Lionsgate and Warner Bros. Discovery. Titles include action movie 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' sports drama film 'The Blind Side' and drama series 'Weeds.' 'Priced at less than a cup of coffee, Howdy is ad-free and designed to complement, not compete with, premium services,' said Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood in a statement. The push comes at a time when many streaming services are raising their prices as they face investor pressure to become more profitable and the cost of production has increased. But San Jose-based Roku — known for its software and connected TV devices that serve as a hub for consumers to select from various streaming options on their TV sets — sees an opportunity to capitalize on the growing demand for low-cost streaming options and generate more revenue on its platform. Roku has had success with its own free ad-supported streaming service, the Roku Channel and has a more diversified business model than other streaming platforms. The company makes money by selling devices and advertising and gets a cut of subscriptions or programs sold through its service. The business also makes branded TVs and smart home products. The company has also sought to expand its content library, acquiring Denver-based subscription streaming service Frndly TV for $185 million earlier this year. 'Howdy is by far the lowest priced ad-free service offered by a major company in the U.S.,' said Brahm Eiley, president at Victoria, B.C.-based the Convergence Research Group in an email. 'In the U.S., Roku has been very successful in attracting viewers for free content with advertising so it's not surprising that Roku is trying some different approaches to the market.' 'With engagement of over 125 million people a day, Roku is the perfect partner to launch a more accessible complement to the higher-priced SVODs,' said Jim Packer, Lionsgate's president of worldwide television distribution in a statement. 'This service has the ability to scale quickly while providing us with a new way to monetize our content, and we're proud to be part of this new streaming experience.' Roku stock declined about 2% on Tuesday morning to $84.24 a share. Like other media companies, Roku has downsized in recent years. In September 2023, the company laid off 10% of its staff, its third round of staff reductions within a year, citing a weak ad market. While Roku's platform business has been robust, its device sales have declined. Roku posted a net loss of $33.95 million in the second quarter on revenue of $1.1 billion, which was up 15% over the same period a year ago.
