Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has sadly died at the age of 76, just days after he took to the stage to perform in his final ever gig. The Black Sabbath star was married to Sharon Osbourne for more than four decades, but there was a time when he "calmly" tried to murder his wife while under the influence of drugs.
Ozzy found himself behind bars one morning in 1989 and was apparently unaware that he had attempted to throttle his spouse. While it wasn't the first time he had been behind bars, Ozzy had to ask a police officer what had happened, to which they replied: "You're charged with attempting to murder Mrs. Sharon Osbourne."

The couple opened up about the horrifying moment their family was almost irrevocably torn apart in a documentary titled The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne. Looking back to that dreadful evening, Sharon remembered tucking up her young children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack, before settling down with a book when a drug-crazed Ozzy entered the room.
According to The Sun on Sunday, she said: "I had no idea who was sat across from me on the sofa but it wasn't my husband. He goes to a stage where he gets that look in his eyes, the shutters were down and I just couldn't get through to him.
"And he just said, 'We've come to a decision that you've got to die'.
"He was calm - very calm - then suddenly he lunged across at me and just dived on me and started to choke me.
"He got me down on the ground on top of me and I was feeling for stuff on the table. I felt the panic button and I just pressed it and the next thing I know, the cops were there."
The shocking incident took place when the family had been living in Buckinghamshire, England. Sharon recalled how the thought of her three young children gave her the strength to survive and hold on until the police arrived.
Echoing her account, Ozzy admitted he was clueless as to why he ended up behind bars the following morning. He remarked: "It's not exactly one of my greatest achievements.
"All I remember is waking up in Amersham jail and I asked the cop, 'Why am I here?' And he says, 'You want me to read your charge?' So he read, 'John Michael Osbourne, you have been arrested for attempted murder'."
The husband and wife were able to move on from the ordeal, and Ozzy went into rehab on numerous occasions for his addictions.
The Osbourne family, including Sharon, their daughters Kelly and Aimee, their son Jack and Ozzy's son, Louis, revealed in a statement that the Black Sabbath legend had passed away on Tuesday morning. They said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." Ozzy, who was known to millions as The Prince of Darkness, had been battling ill-health in recent years, and played his final ever gig just weeks before his death.

ITV are planning for another five years of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and are reportedly in talks to film in the jungle until 2030. Bosses are said to be in negotiations with Australian authorities about securing the area of the jungle where the show is filmed. All going well, another five years would take the long-running ITV show up to its landmark 30th season. A source told The Sun: 'The production team are planning five years in advance, which is a long-term approach they haven't adapted before. 'But this is not a done deal with the local authorities and the negotiations have just started to secure the sight. 'They're not taking anything for granted but are hopeful all parties involved will be able to come to some kind of agreement.' Previously, only thee-year deals have been struck to secure the site in Murwillumbah - where I'm A Celebrity is filmed. If the show hopes to remain there until 2030, they will need the blessing of the local Tweed Shire Council. A spokesperson for the council confirmed ITV will need to seek permission to film on the site again and they don't give 'open-ended filming permissions to anyone'. The Daily Mail has contacted ITV for comment. Jimmy Bullard is reportedly the latest famous face set to take part in the upcoming All Stars version of the series. The 46-year-old former footballer is said to be returning to the jungle alongside a number of other former I'm A Celebrity contestants from previous years. The ex-Soccer AM host will be hoping to do better than his original stint in 2014, when he was the first campmate to be voted off. A source told The Sun on Sunday: 'Jimmy had a brilliant time in the original series he took part in and it really opened the door to his broadcasting career. 'He was voted off first last time and he felt he had a lot more to give. Now he's got the chance to get stuck in again, although he's a bit older so he is worried he might find it harder to rough it. 'His banter is still on top form though. Producers are hopeful he'll have a bromance with Harry Redknapp, who is also taking part.' As well as Jimmy and 2018 King of the Jungle Harry Redknapp, The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins - who lasted only three days in the jungle when she took part in the 2014 edition of the programme - and 2016's third-placed Adam Thomas are also set to take part. Also rumoured to be taking part in this year's All Star's series is Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, who won I'm A Celeb in 2016. She is reportedly keen to take part now that she is a mum to show her young son how brave she can be. Ant and Dec's return as hosts was confirmed in February, with filming due to take place in South Africa later this year. Unlike in the main series, participants are not battling to become king or queen of the jungle, but instead they will simply be crowned 'Legend'. A source said: 'That was one of the biggest entertainment shows of the year averaging 5.2million views across its consecutive weeknight run. Ozzy Osbourne's final months captured in two new documentaries as BBC and Paramount 'race to air unseen footage' following his death aged 76
Two documentaries charting the final years of Ozzy Osbourne are understood to be in a race to be aired following his death at the age of 76 following a battle with Parkinson's disease. The BBC and Paramount+ are said to be producing documentaries on the Black Sabbath star after filmmakers were given access to him for the final three years of his life. According to The Sun, both broadcasters are eager to be the first one to get their documentary released because interest will be high following Ozzy's passing. A source said: 'At this stage it's looking like the BBC might just pip Paramount+ to the post. 'But both organisations are keen to be the first to get them out there because they understand just how hugely popular Ozzy was and how well received these shows will be. 'Of course, there's an element of competition there, but their main priorities are producing two shows that are respectful and that the Osbourne family approve of.' MailOnline has contacted the BBC and Paramount+ for comment. Paramount+ announced their Ozzy documentary Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now earlier this year. The company said it will be 'a deeply personal portrait of the rock legend's harsh new realities and his battle to take the stage for one final performance.' The final performance the film will document was Black Sabbath's Back to the Beginning show in Birmingham on July 5 - just 17 days before the singer's death. The BBC, meanwhile, are said to be putting the final touches on their documentary - originally called Home To Roost - and will follow the Osbourne's return to live in England after years in LA. Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson's during this time but filmmakers were permitted to carry on with the documentary. A third documentary on Ozzy is said to be in the works from Sony but that is not expected to be released until next year. According to his death certificate, the singer died from an 'acute myocardial infarction' and 'out of hospital cardiac arrest'. Ozzy was laid to rest on the grounds of his own mansion in Buckinghamshire last week during a private funeral attended by his family and a host of rock royalty. His widow Sharon, 72, and their children were joined by stars including Marilyn Manson and Ozzy's lead guitarist Zakk Wylde during the event at the family's 250-acre estate near Gerrards Cross. The concert - three weeks before his death - saw him reunite with his original Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time since 2005. More than 42,000 fans packed into the venue for the Back To The Beginning show, during which he told the crowd in his final speech: 'You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart.'

Strictly Come Dancing favourite will NOT have a celebrity partner this year as they are tempted away by new gig
Gorka Marquez has pulled out of being partnered with a celebrity on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The professional dancer, 34, will be missing from the BBC show for three weeks this year to work as a judge on the Spanish version Bailando Con Las Estrellas. His judging commitments means he can't have a professional partner on the new series and will be instead part of the ensemble dancers. According to The Sun, Gorka will appear as part of the ensemble for the first seven weeks and then will be gone for a month before returning in week 11. A source said: 'Strictly bosses were desperate to keep Gorka so have made it work around his schedule to make sure he's as involved as possible because he's such a fan favourite.' Gorka took to Instagram to confirm he would be a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly. He wrote: 'I am happy to announce that I will be back for season two of BAILANDO CON LAS ESTRELLAS as a judge from September. 'Due to the filming dates this means that I won't be competing with a partner this year in Strictly but I will be a part of lots of the group numbers and will be back for final weeks of the Show to support the rest of my fellow pros and their celebrities in what is going to be an AMAZING SERIES. She has performed as a guest Professional Dancer and in the dance troupe on the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars, and has been part of the series' accompanying US tour for the past three years. As well as appearing on America's Got Talent, World of Dance, and on national tours across the States, Alexis has also joined Dancing With The Stars judge Derek Hough for three tours, in addition to his Las Vegas residency. Prior to the announcement, Alexis hinted that she could be joining the Strictly pros in the new lineup, as she shared a video ahead of her flight to the UK over the weekend. The fiery redhead has been married to dentist Jake Burton for six years, and regularly shares sweet snaps with her spouse on Instagram. Speaking about joining the show, Alexis said: 'I've admired Strictly for years, so joining this incredible family is such an honour. 'I can't wait to step into the ballroom, pour my heart into every moment, and share my love of dance with the UK.' Australian-born Julian has been dancing since the age of 10, specialising in Ballroom and Latin American, and going onto represent Australia on the international stage. He appeared as a Professional Dancer on three seasons of Australia's Dancing With The Stars, has toured the globe with hit dance show Burn The Floor, and also competed on So You Think You Can Dance in Australia. Julian has a degree in Exercise Physiology from UNSW Sydney and, alongside his dance career, has worked as a Personal Trainer and Exercise Physiologist. Back in December, Julian announced his engagement to his girlfriend Sofia, posting a sweet video of their beachside proposal on Instagram. He said: 'Joining the cast of Strictly really is a dream come true. I've watched it for years, especially cheering on all the amazing dancers I know and work with who've been part of it. I can't wait to get stuck in, have some fun, and be part of something special! '
