Green Bay students build homes through school construction program
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Students in the Green Bay Area Public School District's Bridges Construction and Renovation Program are making progress on two home construction projects.
Throughout the school year, students from Green Bay East, Preble, and West high schools gained hands-on experience in carpentry, masonry, home wiring, and plumbing.

'As a public school district, we're tasked with educating students so that they can leave high school as productive citizens that are able to positively contribute to our society,' a district official said. 'I think what you are going to discover is that this group of young men and women definitely rise to that level.'
The program aims to equip students with practical skills and real-world experience in the trades.

St. Joseph Backpack Food Assistance Program distributed nearly 43K meals to students
(WFRV) – The St. Joseph Backpack Food Assistance Program distributed nearly 43,000 meals to students in eight school districts for the 2024-2025 school year. Each meal contained eight ready-to-eat healthy meal items that students would take home with them over the weekend. The participating schools said that students felt less stressed when heading home. Registration open, date announced for 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field 'That program is for children from kindergarten through high school and so the teachers in each school determined what the best way to get that to the kids was but generally at the end of the week they would get that bag to take home and have something to eat,' said Monica Claire, St. Joseph Food Program Executive Director.
